  1. Hi Ryan's dad. At this point I'm eager to assemble anything that she can do the 94.7 on. I'm going to drag her out to Suikberbosrand as soon as she gets fit enough I should probably have typed it more clearly that the track bike tinkering/road bike would be built for myself and a simple road bike for my sis.
  2. Pay attention when you read something. Look at my bold sentence above. I'm asking to buy a cheap frame because of my finances.
  3. I'll start off with a serious request... please keep in mind though that the most bicycle related diy i've done was to take off all my mtb components, regreasing all the bearings and some seals and swopped out a cassette. I'd like to experiment with building a workable track bike, or even a road bike with a new 105 groupset. If anyone have cheap (because experimenting and also finances) but fair frames/wheels for either of these, I'd be pleased to have a look! edit: forgot to add I'm +- 186cm, so probably a large. Also wouldn't mind building a bike for my sister who is about uh, 170cm or something.
  4. sending pm
  5. you stole my +1 post count by doing it first. You earned it. On an entirely different note: does anyone commute from the South between Germiston to Kliprivier Nature Reserve area and North towards Randburg/Rosebank? So from the South past the M2 and up North towards the centre of the highway ring?
  6. eh, was worth a shot, thanks though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  7. i'd say shocking... but i've experienced the same with delivery bikes both on the bike and in the car (coincidentally not on the motorbike (yet?)). Just out of curiosity, were these personal use scooters like jonways or delivery bikes? Maybe this video might prove useful next time you encounter the scooter warrior /watch?v=moURZhtDaJk
  8. link not found Johan, would you please update. I'm asking this in the office while wearing light grey socks with bananas on them
  9. looks interesting... just very vague with the information. What constitutes students? Are there age limits? What does the actual track look like and how many laps of how much for the student run, assuming its also laps? Kind of think sending an email to Juanita but at the same time she'll be getting 50 queries asking the same question
  10. how is that retarded? london is littered with cycling lanes yet youtube is riddled with cyclists riding in the far right passing lane. edit: how did i get sucked into this necro'd thread?
  11. I've done both a few times, experienced similar responses and now just leave them to neuk voort 404 error, would you kindly confirm if it is still available?
  12. my 2008 sworks epic has been called very light, but i suspect the 2017 version would be significantly lighter still
  13. Thanks a lot for the advice and explanation - its really helpful, which is the next best thing to a diy video
  14. Hi Spoke, thanks for checking! Where is this or through who? I am definitely interested.
  15. I believe they did it in-house. Thank you, I will contact Anton. The previous service was around R1700 - any ballpark figures if he charges more or the same?
  16. Hi All, About a year ago I had a LBS do a complete rebuild and shock service on my bike. It wasn't a month before I started noticing reduced performance from the front shock and a few more months from the rear shock. I think the LBS messed up something or didn't replace all the seals as I requested, because prior to having my shocks serviced they never gave any trouble and only wanted the service since I bought the bike 2nd hand and wanted to make sure nothing is going to break on me. My problem is that as a student I cannot afford another full shock service, so I am trying to learn from online sources how to service a front air shock rockshox world cup and a rear air fox float R with brain. Has anyone on this forum self serviced their air shocks similar to these? Is it difficult or risky or tedious? Is self servicing costly and perhaps not worth the time and trouble? Any constructive feedback would be appreciated!
  17. both me and my mother had the flu, we both came right by the time we hit half a week after starting antibiotics. she had a 7 day course and i had a 3 day course that works for 7 days. Antibiotics worked wonders for us
  18. Now, maybe a deal with telkom, for every win you guys get, they fix 10 suburbs of infrastructure
  19. 2014's 94.7 mtb race went through the ground. I passed a kid in the pool in front of me and heard the inmates yelling vulgar comments at him. They may be behind fences but it doesn't sound like a safe nor healthy place.
  20. Just wondering, is this where or the Specialized haters hang out? Or am I looking for the Cannondale/Momsen thread?
  21. why would more people start cycling if they see how dangerously taxis shoot into the new "joburg cycling lanes" - people see bicycles, then they see how the cyclists are nearly killed cars, then they wet themselves, then they plonk down in front of useless dstv. Personally, I think cycling will pick up drastically by merely prosecuting reckless drivers and taxis.
  22. this is sick. Should be made compulsory for new cars as there are too many cars hitting cyclists.
  23. Ja, hulle is onder die top slimste m.a.w. onder Dobermans
  24. pffff, clicked on this fred expecting a discussion on the Formula F1 hydraulic brakes
