  1. I've been drooling over this one since last year, but 167km in my own company sounds like pushing it haha. Does anyone know if this event will qualify for the team vitality entry discount?
  2. jis, <insert excuse me what the heck meme> Is this all after you paid? Asking because that only makes what sounds already unethical, awful and dishonest a lot worse.
  3. I was contacted on instagram of all palces by some clown using that email. Blocked and reported them the moment the profile pic, name and email showed disparity. I don't have any instagram links referencing Bikehub, so I assume they simply operate on all platforms.
  4. To answer my own question from last week: They calculate cancellation based on the vitality gym rate i.e. the R900-something membership -75% flat rate discount, which in my case was R237,50 per month. So if I cancelled 8 months early, it will be [(R237.50 x 8 months) x0.4% cancellation fee]. The numbers in the phone call was wrong and lower than what I was told in person, but still competent and worthwhile on vitality. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future who may have the same query.
  5. Jis... just makes it clearer that I need to see them, like mr Mayhem suggests, and get some numbers on paper. I'll go tonight and if it makes sense, report here in case anyone else was wondering.
  6. I'm trying to get all the facts for the vitality gym booster, but like most companies, VA wants to deal via the telephone, so in spite of the phone call, I have no idea what was said over the fuzzy line and getting the info emailed is too much to ask. Can some of you please advise? I want to join a VA branch, just 1 because only singular branches qualify for vitality discounts from the pdf I read. The thing is, the shortest contract they offer is for 1 year and I won't be in this country for another year. Say I up and left in March, that means there will be 9 months left on the contract and thus 9 months worth of cancellation penalties? It sounds like the cancellation penalty is also subject to your qualifying vitality discount, right? So if the gym was R300 pm, that would be R1890 penalty after discount? Over the phone I heard something closer to R380 cancellation on a 8 month penalty, which didn't sound right.
  7. I understood that mon-goose was talking about an actual event when saying "event" and then later saying it is shown on a results page, which also sounds like a race/event and not personal exercising.
  8. I'm guessing that if you just pause the device you record with in between, it'll be uploaded as a single swim.
  9. No no, the exact opposite direction, going towards marks park/emmarentia park. Hope I understood correct.
  10. I was also recently advised that from the William Nicol pnp section towards marks park is safe enough, but not the other direction. Honestly, I haven't tried it yet due to time, but my point is CBlake gives a good suggestion.
  11. What Captain said in post 8412 following yours and also they don't have any such records for brand new vitality members. Only HR record Discovery maybe has of me is from the wellness day last year. Besides, the questionnaire was roughly 5 questions, of which 1 was whether you completed any event of x running or 100km+ of cycling and another was whether you are on doctors orders not to exercise or something along those lines. Writing code to check hr history would be more expensive than this brief questionnaire. Perhaps not as dependable or safe, but cheaper.
  12. They make it sound like that, but after answering the questionnaire truthfully, it was activated for me as well.
  13. From past experience within the last 5 years, Anker doesn't ship to south africa whatsoever - had an acquaintance bring an anker product over from usa and its still going strong, great quality so far, so worth the trouble!
  14. Can anyone confirm how the vitality health assessment (with or without hiv extra cost+points test) and fitness assessment payment works for discovery medical aid members that only have hospital plans? Last year there was a wellness day at work, discovery covered it without taking funds from day-to-day-savings, but I was on a saver plan. This year it was changed off of a saver plan, so just wondering if discovery would still cover the R200-something for the health assessment at a vitality wellness day? Additionally, would the hiv-addon and fitness assessment be out of pocket or covered as well? I would appreciate any insight!
  15. Sorry, I was wrong! I forgot I had photos of the show on my phone and they are dated 19 August 2018, which was the Sunday, so presumably it'll run from 17 to 18 August 2019, give or take perhaps.
  16. It was fairly late last year, very close to the AAD Expo. I'm guessing around October.
  17. Almost exactly, but I should've clarified that the keep left applies to coming back as well. My first time there I almost went down the starting climb, but recognised the road in time and turned around knowing I'm going the wrong way. Like Hoekvlag mentions, just before reaching the same gruesome starting climb, there is a split where you keep left again, so you actually reach the start point from the behind, making a closed loop. It is a lovely and gruesome ride, remember to lig voete for those poffies!
  18. Yes, just keep left after going up the never ending start climb.
  19. I read about it yesterday but dont recall too many details. There is an explanation along the lines of the remaining balance being divided into the months/weeks to determine the cash back. Not sure if you know and also not sure if I have it right either, but sounds like that 25% cash back can never be over R4000. Secondary confirmation would be good
  20. Fenix 5s https://www.onedayonly.co.za/garmin-fenix-5s1.html a camelback in 3l https://www.onedayonly.co.za/skyline-10-lr-3l-hydration-pack-7.html The price for the fenix 5s is good, but with CES 2019 around the corner, maybe worth holding out for that...
  21. Thank you very much for sharing Fast-er I submitted an order for reds and added several much needed brake pads.
  22. Ah, I remember you Nicolai. I'll send a pm, thank you!
  23. Christmas is approaching fast and I have a family member I want to make a crafted item for. I'm looking for any intact rim, but that is a throwaway please. if the rim is dented, slightly bent, scratched a lot, that is all fine. It doesn't need spokes or hubs and if it has, they're coming out. If anyone around JHB has one available, kindly let me know please.
  24. I think it sounds further than it is - 27.5km shortest highway route by car, but the traffic is silly. I'm trying to find a route that goes East into Germiston and then North (somewhere safe?!) to reach Bedfordview and from there on it should be smooth sailing - google maps said it will be under 40km. Just getting past the South of Jhb Central is a big safety and logistics problem!
