  1. So, are you calling Lance a GIRL?
  2. I went for the Reba RSL dual air 120mm travel. My Zula went from 12.3kg with a Fox Talus to 11.85kg with the Reba. Aftersome adjustments on the fly whilst riding Jonkershoek at night up and down Canary I started to enjoy the fork. Noteto self -do not do a night ride with some seriously fast downhill single trackdudes at night with a new fork. It leaves you either trying to kill yourselfour rather accept defeat and just ride at your own pace whilst your mates waitfor you. Climbing up canary I found that the fork was absorbing to much and not rolling over an obstacle. So I switched to lock out problem solved. I still need to tune the fork pressure for my riding style and then as they say in the Classics "Bring it On".
  3. So I needed a new fork for my Zula. I had to choose between the Reba RLT and the Sid 120mm Dual Air systems. So I did the normal thing and looked at CWC and they had no stock even though there website says they have. I looked on buycycle and chain reaction. Was not to keen on them as I am doing the wine to whales two day tour this weekend and needed the shock pronto. I phoned We Bike for a price which they gave to me. Same as Epic I then phoned Epic Bikes in Wynberg which is less than 200m away from my office. I was told that they can get me a shock the next day and make a plan to fit it for me. Aylex gave me a discount as well as no charge to fit and set up. They were only 10% more expensive than buycylce and chain reaction. Now the service you get at Epic is what counts the most. They may not always be the cheapest but its not always about the price. In the end I now have my new fork fitted one day after placing the order so I can now ride Jonkershoek tonight. Thanks Epic Bikes, you guys rock
  4. Spray some "doom" or any kind of insect killing spray on it. Leave it for anout 1 minute. This awlays does the trick on store labels / stickers. Not sure of the effect on the carbon???? Use it or loose it!
  5. for the 26ers for the 29ers
  6. To answer re organic or sintered. With my Hope X2's I first rode with organic then went with sintered in the Cape winter, continued with the sintered into summer. During my summer rides I found that the sintered pads were crappy, but in winter they were the bomb. So to make it simple: Wet / Winter = sintered Dry / Summer = organic I rode with the generic CRC pads for hope but found the original Hope pads were a better fit. Hope this helps
  7. I would say the 2,1 is the way to go. If you are going to be doing some wet weather MTBing then rather go with a Kenda Nevergal. As it is the Sh!tz in the wet. Last thing you want is the front tire slipping out on you. The Conti mountain king is also a good option here, but the 2.1 is rather narrow.
  8. I have Hope tech X2. No more to be said. Oh well a little teaser then: I have used them for the past 18 months. Never had to bleed them and they still work brilliantly like the day I bought them. I have used generic pads but the original hope pads seem to last longer. The hope brake sets are a bit pricey but well worth every penny. Oh and the hope system is super sexy to look at. Hope, hope, hope ,hope - you get the message.
  9. Ride a tandem and make the wife do all the work, whilest you give all the instructions. Thats if you are talking about riding a bike
  10. Nice bike but what impresses me is the magical qualities that your bike displays by standing vertical all by its self or could it be viagra in your water bottle.
  11. I Phoned them yesterday to complain and the lady I spoke to at grandstand events management was not aware of the issues. I told her to look at this forum to see the issues. She further told me that they outsourced the event logistics to another org as this seems to have been the problem
  12. Garmin are taking legal action against Bryton as there is no difference. They have a court order halting sales in Germany.
  13. As to how much climbing, its allot from the bottom of Conters to the top and then down the green corridor to M-dal. The routes all link up its just depends on the amount of climbing you want to do. You can do hillcrest then go down Kliprug into Conters and back up Conters to the green coridor split crossing of the fence. You can also climb back up kliprug and then complete hillcrest and then climb to the green corridor again. This option may be longer, but I think it is easier. If you live in Durbanville and you are a MTBer then you climb and climb but are also rewarded with the fab downhills and single track that the club has sweated to build for us.
  14. [ One thing that pissed me off... quite a lot! I came in at about 12:10. Cut-off was 12:30. When I got in there was nobody taking my time. There was nothing to drink, everybody already packed up. And I got no medal. WTF?? I finished the 50-55km race ahead of my wife and cheered her hugely at the end as there was no one else there. We both had a really good ride and enjoyed the route hugely. What also pissed us off was the fact that when she finished with a riding time of 4h30 there was no one to give her a medal or a juice. She finished ahead of the cut off and thus deserves a finishers medal. Its not the value of the trinket but the fact that she finished on time and thus has a right to to it. It the f-ing lazy events staff who could not be bothered to do there job and stand there and congratulate the finishers. Tried to phone grandstand events management to voice my displeasure this am and all you get is an answering machine, with a message about the Cape- Epic???????? Does any one know if the event was manually timed this year as I saw no one?
  15. Who was the lucky bugger who was in the middle. Those cleavages are enough to warm a mans heart.
  16. I Ride a Zula with American classic wheels and its a potent combo. The Zula is bullet proof. Have not heard of a cracked Zula yet!!

    cramps

This is a real crappy answer  Is the simple answer rather not to spend more time in the saddle or ride at a slower pace as not to tire the muscle to early on. When you cramp, should you stop or just reduce your pace and ride through it?
  18. Hi Guys I am looking for the route map, or GPS / Google earth Map of the Sunday 52km ride. At some points in the ride I had no idea were I was in relation to the start finish venue. If any body could post it I would be thankful. I found the ride way easier than expected. The only irritation was the bottle neck at the first single track. Some more route planning required for next year??????
  19. Burnt Tjops that is
  20. They are made here in Jo-berg. But both brands are owned by international companies. Oh and buy the way it is ilegal to export them for profit.
  21. On the flip side Try and buy a Baracuda, Kreepy Krauly pool cleaner overseas and then compare the local prices. In good old SA we are about four times, yes that four times cheeper. So in some yet rare cases it is alot cheeper in SA.
  22. I also have the same set up as above and they are great. I have been using them for the past 2 years and have never had to bleed them as they are bullet proof. Hope rock and they are super sexy too.
  23. Sweet
  24. Cool ride, welcome to the family.
