  1. Are you using the Android version, or ipad/iphone? I'm having issues with the Android version since the last update, HR connects but says No Signal
  2. I'll test again on Rouvy next week when I home again. Though my Vortex Smart only goes to 6%, maybe that's why I have not really felt this
  3. Enjoying this one currently:
  4. So I see Rouvy has announced a "Augmented Reality" addition to their platform: https://rouvy.com/en/augmented-reality Currently in private beta, but certainly looks interesting. If it works with races, it will make a nice change from chasing dots on a map I think they are sending invites for people using the Windows platform first. It will be interesting to see how well the 3D combines with the route videos, hopefully they don't take too long before sending out invites for Android or iOS users as well.
  5. Motorists should be following the rules. Cyclists should be following the rules. Pedestrians should be following the rules. And each group should be doing it regardless of what the other group does. Threatening each other (heck, even our own groups) with things like a PK, showing nasty signs, etc. is, to put it quite mildly, ineffective at curbing the problem. All you have now is someone who is not following the rules, while feeling angry and self-righteous, and who'll be telling all willing to listen about the stupid motorist/cyclist who wronged them, thereby spreading the bias.
  6. Team picked in a hurry this morning. I hope I can get past stage two this year without losing a quarter of my picked riders...
  7. Right now ANT+ is not supported on the Android version, unfortunately. But it is specifically listed in their current "Known Issues", so I assume it is one of the many things that is still being worked on. I assume most of the issues will only be fixed after Eurobike, to be honest. They've probably tested it with specific trainers and tablets that will be used at the show. Fair enough. I'm in no rush.
  8. So I installed the Android beta on my tablet (Teclast T8), and it actually runs well enough. Not perfectly smooth, but it is definitely playable. Issues so far are that it didn't control the resistance of my Vortex Smart at all. And it looks like there might currently be a limitation on the number concurrent of Bluetooth connections. For comparison, directly after my ride on Zwift I tested Rouvy with everything connected via BT (normally I use ANT+), and all my sensors plus the trainer connected without a problem and resistance of the trainer was being controlled. I probably won't consider subscribing until at least the trainer resistance issue has been fixed.
  9. I use ANT+ with my China import Teclast T8 tablet (using Rouvy or the Tacx (cr)app) - I just use one of those Garmin ANT+ adapters with a OTG adapter. No doubt. "Why won't your useless app work on my R1000 Sansui Hi-fi corp special tablet?!?! 1-Star rating for you!" At the same time though, there are a lot of Android phones and tablets these days that are not top-of-the-range, that can play PUBG, Mortal Kombat, etc. at decent framerates. I know synthetic benchmarks don't tell the whole story, but for example the Qualcomm 660 in the Nokia 7 Plus is faster than quite a few of the Apple devices that play Zwift just fine. Hopefully the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 comes to SA. It will probably cost similar to the cheapest Ipad 6th Gen (which Telkom has a fairly nice deal on the 128GB version!), sure, but at least I don't have to wave goodbye to everything I already own on the Google Play store.
  10. Sounds like the design needs some refinement or DIY. I'll message you for the images etc. I also want to see if I can get some extra normal bar/stem mounts for the Lezyne. I need an extra for the MTB anyway, and I wouldn't be too surprised if I could tie or glue one to this cheap out-front mount. But I do want to try the 3D printed idea as well, should be the neatest option (plus it is simply cool:) )
  11. The Rec-mounts actually have a Lezyne adapter/mount, but if I remember correctly the shipping, to SA at least, fell in the "Hahaha, yeah, no" category (ie. more than the mount itself). The mount I have looks similar to this one. I just need to check the dimensions of the included adapters. Hopefully one of the printed options will work.
  12. If you do get it, let me know how it works for you. I got an out-front combo mount yesterday, with only Garmin or Wahoo adapters of course, but they look like they could be copies of k-edge adapters.
  13. I've seen 3d print adapters available, for example: https://www.shapeways.com/marketplace?type=product&q=Lezyne Or: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2832437 I have not tested any of these, I want to see if I can get the one from the second link printed.
  14. A whole bunch of sports stuff on sale on Takealot today, including some of the Wahoo HR straps and the Bolt gps.
  15. And entered. Should be an interesting and different challenge
  16. Well, we used ours at the M&B here once, and it was such a hassle getting a takeaway coffee that we never bothered again. Maybe enough people didn't enjoy awkwardly standing around among the tables waiting for their coffee, and rather went to Vida or Kauai
  17. A new update was released on Wednesday/Thursday. Version - 6.75 (previous was 6.57). The release notes don't seem to list anything that wasn't in the previous version. Hopefully it fixes a bunch of things, as I'm getting a bit tired of re-connecting my sensors mid-ride.
  18. Looking at the Device Booster mail I received from Sportsman's Warehouse a few days ago, there are not many cycling GPS computers that qualify? I see only the Polar M460 and V650. No Garmin Edge's or Wahoo's
  19. A comparison between the two would be interesting, once you've had some time with both, in terms of the structured workouts. In terms of the routes, I just like doing the long climbs. Even though my trainer cannot simulate the steep gradients properly, climbing for an hour is something that is rather hard to do in Bloem...
  20. With Rouvy (previously VirtualTraining) you can ride real routes, yes. With video of the route, where available. You can also create your own routes manually, or (if I remember correctly) by importing a gpx or similar file of a route. If you have the equipment, you can add video to your created routes too. Plus virtual racing on routes, structured workouts (which again you can create your own). Unlike Zwift though, with the racing you are just chasing other dots on the map, but it is still $%&!@ hard. I've subscribed to the Premium level, so my wife can also use it. Edit: Also, at least for me the Rouvy android app crashes a LOT less than the pathetic Tacx free app.
  21. A question, not related directly to Zwift (mostly because it's not available on Android): I have a Tacx Vortex Smart, which I use with my road bike. Now, wifey (who prefers walking/running) hurt her knee a bit with something, and I've put her MTB on the trainer with a cheap slick tyre. Her MTB is a 26-inch though, so to change between her and my bike on the trainer involves pretty much disassembling the trainer. To avoid this, would a cheap 29-inch MTB rear wheel with a trainer tyre be close enough to a road wheel that I could just leave the trainer on one setting?
  22. Greeeaaat...... My Fusion 5 set should arrive any day now, but this statement does not give me happy thoughts The GP4000SIIs I put on for the Argus were not too bad, but the Vittorias prior to that took me two days (I had to take a break, otherwise my brand-new-at-the-time wheels would have gone for flying lessons.)
  23. Not this year, actually, it was mentioned in the cycle tour magazine.
  24. It's fine I enjoyed my extra ride that I wouldn't have done otherwise, and I intend on doing it every year from now on. From the drop in entries, I think a lot of other people were far more worried about the possibility of another cancellation than me. But for the sake of the theme, let's go with the Rabada one - I assume he did something bad/good/funny/extreme. (I have not watched cricket, nor rugby, in about three years, lost interest)
