  1. I sent the mail to this email: bloem@pedalpower.org.za
  2. Wasn't it Team Zwatt or something like that? Where there is a low once-off fee, and then a subscription amount?
  3. I received a reply, we were correct regarding Montgomery into Stals. She also attached a .kmz file, I've converted it to a gpx, should be attached Mangaung Cycle Tour 106 km.gpx
  4. Agreed! I think it is more likely that they'll use De Bruyn St there, instead of going off into Ryno Kriel. Hopefully they reply with answers to my questions, or even better provide a GPX file. Until then, this shouldn't be TOO far off: https://www.endomondo.com/routes/792849641 (disclaimer: no responsibility taken if this gets you lost ) Edit: Whoops! Turned into a one-way lane at Van Schalkwyk st, fixed
  5. I've mailed them. It is possible... Gardenia to Aalwyn, Montgomery underneath the bridge, and left and left again into Stals so we can cross the bridge. After staring at the map for a few minutes, I realised I had completely misunderstood the start/finish as well. Seems like we enter/exit the Tempe grounds via Papa Brits street.
  6. I haven't seen any info on the MTB route(s) yet. The road route is available here: http://www.cycleevents.co.za/road-events/ppa-mangaung-cycle-tour-2016/ I'm not clear on the bit between Walter Sisulu Rd and Benade Dr, the rest is either similar to last year or familiar if you've ever ridden in Bloem.
  7. I suspect it is not available in certain regions? On the Play store, if I search for it, or go to their artist page I don't see it, but a direct to the album shows it is there
  8. One of my current favourites
  9. I don't think it is too much for what we get, yet. But I do think the difference between the entry for the Argus and other races like the Amashova or next year's Herald is rather significant. Given that we have to travel down to CPT, accommodation and food, the entry fee is still one of the less expensive parts of the trip though, so I will keep doing it as long as I am able.
  10. Yes! My dad's in too. Will be his 20th, my 21st
  11. Another year, another new route. Keeps us on our toes at least... Based on this route map, the start/finish is in Reynecke avenue? I'll see if I have time to create the route on Endomondo, to test the distance. Just glad the race is still on.
  12. And my dad's application is in as well I know we've got a number of days, but surely they realise most people will try to apply on the first day (those who don't want to forget), or the last day (those who remember on the last day)
  13. Its all about fun.... just at different speeds To be honest, I just want to get to the finish in one piece. A good time is a bonus - I've got a few sub threes, one more isn't worth taking risks.
  14. I'd love to do this next year, as it will be my 21st one next year. It does mean that a sub-3 first lap is pretty much not negotiable though, to be able to get back to the start in time.... no pressure. And an additional 4 hours of stress for my wife.
  15. Managed to get to Gold, thanks to points I earned before the Strava change, plus checkups and such. I hope they can figure something out for users of other GPS devices before the end of the year - unless I can get the data from my Bryton synced somehow, I doubt very much that we will maintain Gold level.
  16. Sigh, and of course I'd not see that! Next year then
  17. Perhaps they could consider adding another category next year - riders who are interested in riding the event, but are not part of an existing team etc. to APPLY to enter, and (should enough riders in a similar position enter) they can be grouped together based on RaceTec or PPA or whatever seeding? Unlikely I know, especially if the event grows as popular as the DC.
  18. I've been looking at getting myself trail running shoes, as I've twisted my right ankle relatively regularly with my normal running shoes in the last few months, and I figured they should provide better support. I only do a little bit of road running, some light gravel, about 5km usually. But the salesman at one shop mentioned that some of the trail running shoes have softer soles that would wear down quite quickly for how I intended to use them. Is this true? The salesman at one shop mentioned that the New Balance 610 was a good "all-terrain" type. At a different shop I was shown the Solomon Wings XT 3 (which have some pronation control feature). Are those good options? Others I should look at? Or should I not be looking at trail running shoes?
  19. I see Campagnolo is testing disc brakes with the WorldTour teams: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/campagnolo-disc-brakes-214961 The calipers look quite neat. Not too sure about the ergo shape though...
  20. Definitely worth a trip, its a beautiful area. My wife and I love staying at the Glen Reenen rest camp in Golden Gate. Would also love to do this ride, but unfortunately my riding buddies consist of me, myself and I 99% of the time.
  21. Unfortunately we have neither a Kauai nor Vida cafe anymore, so I haven't bothered with the rewards. Closest Kauai is in Welkom, and Vida in Pretoria or Durban. Slightly out of the way
  22. Hmm, looks like I've maxed my workout points anyway. Time to strap the HRM to wifey.
  23. Its only about 300m or so, but its a bastard... And it comes right on the heels of Lichens pass
  24. Hmm, so I won't be able to earn points with my Bryton anymore? I don't think that Vitality benefits me nearly enough to justify spending R5000 on an equivalent Garmin, when the Bryton my wife gave me for Xmas a few years ago still works perfectly...
