  1. Sent months after the event, PDF via email.
  2. I feel the same. There are rules, yes, but not many people pitched at the start with the intention of riding longer than 7 hours (if they know about that time limit), I'd imagine. Anyone who pitched at the start with an e-bike was surely either TRYING to not read any of the emails etc., or had decided to deliberately ignore the rule.
  3. I do hope this does not discourage you or your son from trying again. But, the 7 hour cut-off for an official result is according to their rules: "2.11. Riders are required to complete the Cycle Tour course within 7 (seven) hours to be awarded a result and finishing certificate unless the race organisers determine otherwise." The "unless the race organisers determine otherwise" - not sure how one would go about motivating it to them - with the wind and rain later riders faces it MIGHT be possible, but probably a long shot. Well done to you both on finishing despite the wind and rain though!
  4. Guy from Bloem, he's strong. Looks like he simply rode away from them on Smitswinkel, looking at Strava Flybys
  5. My dad in 2C saw a solo guy on a tandem, clothes in tatters. I only saw the one crash, but far too many concertina-effect near-misses.
  6. It sounded like a tyre blowout! I saw the wheel lying around, was wondering how hard to have to fall for the wheel to come out. Someone on the left had a pretty nasty OTB in the aftermath.
  7. I agree that the new expo venue is more efficient... but I can't help but feel the old venue felt more exciting. Not sure why, perhaps it is simply nostalgia from the first few times we came to the Argus as a school group. My wallet is happy though! Not because there wasn't anything nice - I very nearly bought a new Zephyr (but I wanted a white one). Quick poll: how many people actually bought a handheld massager or gel heat pack thing? There were more of those than bikes this year.
  8. An additional thing to check with some of the devices, is the power management settings, which can play havoc with some tracking apps. For example, the Discovery Insure app, and the Lezyne GPS app, refused to stay connected to my Nokia 6.1, until I found instructions on how to get around the power management settings. https://dontkillmyapp.com/ I don't think Huawei is as bad as Nokia, but might be useful should you run into problems.
  9. I'll be wearing a brand-new club 21 shirt, gray/black/white Merida bike, and (unless I find a really good special at the expo) Kask Protone that clashes with everything else I own. See you there! We'll go on Friday as usual. Which worked great last year, it gives them time to sort out the usual bugs in the system.
  10. I'm in & this year, so only two minutes to make up. Not sure how I'll go, if I can't stick with the group up Edinburgh, I'll be hoping for the tandems to come past
  11. Wave when you catch us on the Blue Route (if you have time).
  12. Probably works out cheaper than Alpecin\Platur\etc. too!
  13. A voucher at either Takealot or Bikealot?
  14. I hope to do the same as last year - have a ride with a buddy on Friday morning; that way even if they do cancel due to wind/protestors, our trip down is not a waste. On that note, any suggestions for a nice 100km-ish route from Cape Gate area for Sunday, should the event be cancelled? I really hope it doesn't get cancelled though, especially as it is my dad's 21st. As long as we get to start, not worried about the time. As for the second lap thing, I'd love to do it some day. But not if it means my family needs to sit around in the sun for another four hours; if we stayed close to the finish sure. The cost is a fraction of our entire trip.
  15. In addition, it happens that it doesn't pick up riders at some of the mats along the route, then people get worried and start panicking etc. But, it is better than nothing, and between it and my Lezyne's live tracking, wifey should have a less stressful year this time

  17. So for those who have one of these, I see the stable app has FINALLY been updated (previous non-beta release was October last year, if I remember correctly), which fixes a lot of things, and adds quite a few features - including offline mapping, where you can download the map for a select-able area, and then use the routes for that area without an internet connection.
  18. The number of routes with AR fully integrated is limited currently. I think there are 14, of which only 5 are not just one big climb. On the one I tried, the 3D stuff is pretty neat, though the animation of the avatars was a bit rough (especially when they get out of the saddle). I'd like to see a race on one of the AR routes, with enough participants to really show what it would be like. If I'm just riding a route on my own, I don't think the AR would make a big difference in my life to be honest. On other routes, the interface did change a bit, and if someone else should be riding the same route as you, you'll be shown how far they are ahead/behind you.
  19. Oh nuts.... just got mine. &, starting at 6h23. Excuse me, I need to go subscribe to the hardest two-week training plan I can find, ASAP.
  20. Well this is interesting: Huawei partners with Discovery Vitality
  21. World switching is now available on Android as well, PLUS it also fixes the black screen issue many phones and tablets were getting. This is turning out to be a good week for updates - now if the next update for the companion app can add landscape mode, it would be brilliant.
  22. Yeah, I got caught in the Tour de Zwift trap. Two stages left, then I don't think I'll take on anything so long term again, unless it is a training plan during winter. I skipped a quite a few outdoor rides to take part in, or recover from, these stages, and for some virtual clothing...
  23. It isn't available yet on Android beta either, so I guess the mobile versions are a bit behind. Hopefully soon, and hopefully it also fixes some of the many other issues as well.
  24. Saw it as well this morning. Deliberately chose London just because I could, only around 70 people on it at the time. Though to be honest, I'd probably use Watopia the most, going forward, unless it is a group ride or race somewhere else.
