  1. I've contemplated getting a Asus ROG Ally, and a docking station to connect it to my monitor, that I can use to run IV/TrainerRoad/Zwift/Rouvy/MyWoosh/whatever, plus I can use it to game occasionally. It would be faster, GPU wise, than the current full-sized PC taking up half the table, and portable. A new Android tablet with enough power to run these apps at the same speed, would cost the same or more anyway.
  2. Quick update - Youtube Music keeps playing.... except when it seems the tablet runs out of memory and either Youtube Music or IV itself crashes/is closed. Since MyWoosh is quite intensive, maybe the same is happening with it as well.
  3. I don't actually use it on my tablet to ride, but I can probably try to spectate a race on the tablet while playing something on Youtube Music
  4. For those that missed it, the iV Grand Tour was a blast! https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1qG1a1ly8G-LEKI1tHYTs6Om2KLLfTEetV23-92SFkA4/mobilebasic Some stats from the above document: * 351 unique riders finished at least one stage. * 118 riders completed all 6 stages * 700 hours 14 minutes of cumulative effort * Fastest overall GC time: 3h02m09s (also fastest u/23) * 1st ladies GC: 3h34m15s * 1st 60+3h10m43s * Lantern Rouge (that completed 6 stages): 5h32m46s * 1st team GC: 9h18m47

    TransBaviaans 2025

Well, f-it, expensive but entered. My dad is 68 and still relatively healthy, no time like the present. He did the Karoo to Coast in a bit more than 5h15 despite Dr orders for regular stops, so definitely capable.

    TransBaviaans 2025

Hmm, would be good to know for sure - I was hoping to convince my dad to do the Repeat with me next year.
  7. 89 riders already signed up so far for the IV Grand Tour prologue at 19h00, and a hundred already for stage 2 at 19h30!
  8. Last night's Monday Mixer/Heroica race was a bit hectic. The route was short, only about 24km, but the pace was at a completely different level than the previous weeks. A few of the teams brought their best riders, and they attacked each other relentlessly, leaving the rest simply hanging on for as long as we could with no hope of some recovery anywhere. All the riders in the top 10 had a NP of at least 350W. Even if my legs weren't a bit tired from the weekend's Karoo to Coast, there is no way I could have kept up with the front group over the last two climbs. I lost 7 seconds up to the velodrome, and eventually finished in the second group just less than a minute back from the winner. 77 human riders started, and 70 finished. But single pen, normally it gets split into 3 or 4 with bots.
  9. The corrugations were not bad at all, the roads must have been graded relatively recently. The sections through the forests were a bit uneven though, by this point my sense of humor also took a temporary dip after some bad cramps 🤦 And Ou Wapad has definitely been improved, according the riders who have done it before it was far better this year. Would be even better if people could keep left, pass right, but oh well. The event is quite well organised. Pity the numbers are down so much - there was plenty of space left for tents on the showgrounds, and plenty of space in the Church hall. The covid years and last year's cancellation taking its toll I guess
  10. I don't remember a lot of mud, but that could be because my brain is still shaking from the rocky downhills
  11. Did my first one today. The decents were rough on my hard-tail. No thanks to doing it on a gravel bike
  12. Have a look at some of the races - there is the Heroica series that started this week (stage 1 is available multiple times a day until this Sunday), then every few days: https://ecycling-classifications.com/s/heroica-3 And also next week from Wednesday, the Grand Tour available at multiple times throughout each day. The 7pm-8pm GMT+2 timeslot is currently the one with the most riders. A bit late, but I've really been enjoying the Monday Mixer races.
  13. Updated weather Still starts very cold, but getting warmer than previously predicted. The long sleeve jacket could be too much, might use arm warmers and contego gilet rather
  14. At least two, one being Versus merino. Alternatively 1 pair, thick merino hiking socks. And probably toe covers or similar. My feet do not like winter at all. Edit: Mind you, what the h*** is going on with the weather?! Snow in mid-September?!
  15. I reckon I am going to do normal bib shorts with knee warmers, undershirt + short-sleeved shirt + Ciovita Contego long-sleeved jacket. And all the socks. Same as Transbaviaans, I will use my hydration pack minus bladder as a just-in case, with wind jacket and such. Then if the Contego gets too warm I can switch to the lighter wind jacket, or add the wind jacket if I'm turning blue despite the Contego.
  16. I wonder how many riders will be in each starting group. 2022 had almost 2200 people split into groups A - G, ranging from just less than 300 to nearly 400 riders each. This year there are 5 start groups (plus tandems), so either bigger groups or less riders? Who else is starting 7h30? Looks like it is going to be about 7 degrees when we start, and at best 13 when most of A has finished 🥶
  17. Early days, but the wind direction looks like "fun"
  18. Does anyone here have a GPX file of the route? I want to put it through the Epic Ride Weather app, to see what we are in for.
  19. I have not tried it at all - hoping to hit the right key in a race while barely keeping up, recipe for failure. Maybe with Zwift Play style controllers.
  20. In the Trainer Settings menu, at Workout Resistance Mode, is it on ERG or one of the other settings? In the other settings, the Virtual Gearing settings could have an impact. Also test with the Compatibility Mode on or off. I don't think the estimated FTP is used for much, maybe it is considered in the performance verification or race pen selection. Mine is about 8w lower than what TrainerRoad estimates it at, but I have not used IV for workouts yet.
  21. If your weekend MTB rides are pretty technical, then perhaps; not really that road riding is making you slow, just missing the specificity. If your MTB rides are not technical, and it it just the legs doing the talking, then it shouldn't be making you slower if you are riding at the same effort level.
  22. Specifically, those use the older Look Delta cleats, which I don't think are compatible with the newer Look Keo cleats. A few other companies made cleats compatible with them, like Ryder or Exus as mentioned above. But they seem a bit scarce these days. https://www.decathlon.co.za/p/242-89973-delta-compatible-cleats.html?srsltid=AfmBOoq-ouYcuXuj-Eb0fZbgFY15nLBoguia1QcJbQ0y7y3wg61Ov6EA
  23. Nah. At best they'll be "co-leaders", which means Remco will go for a 50km solo break. Compared to if Remco is the sole leader, in which case he will go for a 50km solo break.
  24. A group of event organisers are creating a 5-day 6 stage event. Starting on 25 September, to 29 September, with Stage 1 (the Prologue) and Stage 2 both on the 25th. Each stage has multiple time-slots, every 2 to 3 hours. For more information: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v8XwByXs35M0eaOIXdkrh98HLtZkLOzyo_uOs1fmXzI/edit?usp=sharing
  25. Sorry, I meant that the ALR models were not mentioned elsewhere in the article
