  1. Going to be a bit negative. Was initially skeptical when a family member told me she holds shares in Leatt. Took it as a ja boet story. Few months later she shows me the original share certificate issued to her husband. Farmers in the Boesmanland, having shares in a cycling company, would not have believed in a 100 years... Was very keen to assist her to transfer the shares to her name as per the will, but was quickly disillusioned. Try and get a hold of some one to assist with a share transfer from the estate. The share dilution back in 2012 was not great for initial investors, 25 / 1. Shares trading in US OTC, seems like the OTC is a gamble in the US. My comments to her was to hold on to the shares.
  2. Nice bling front tri spoke or spinergy front wheel, just because you have to look fast going still.
  3. Was able to due 3 early morning runs. Got lost the first day, my fault, no sense of direction and a 10km became a 16km. The rain cancelled out the other days. Over the weekend the roads were quite, only cyclist on my way back. Tuesday, busy with many runners. Did not feel unsafe, but did not enjoy the runs due to the unknown surrounds. Keep safe and enjoy your cycling!
  4. Coming down to Cape Town for few days. No bike unfortunately, but will be bringing my tekkies. Been a slog the last three months so I do not want to miss my early morning runs. Is it safe to run alone at around 5am in the Rondebosch area? I know this is going to be the topic of our discussion on the 9 hour drive... and would like to call on the Hub wisdom as a matter of fact!
  5. Did Charlene made it?
  6. Had the same problem. Send my Fenix to Garmin, report back was new unit at discounted price. Not a great deal to be honest, only have 90 warranty. Discounted price was R1k below best price I could find for Fenix 6 Sapphire. Then Garmin managed to send to wrong unit Fenix 6 Pro, two week to sort this out. Very disappointed, old watch worked better, this new unit loose connetivity to my phone and is treates the same as the old unit.
  7. https://cyclingtips.com/2021/07/a-tropical-storm-is-coming-for-the-olympic-mtb-and-time-trial-events/ seriously tempted to stay in tomorrow morning for the triathlon and mtb.
  8. De Bod not very happy at the back.
  9. Age perhaps finally catching up.
  10. Was it not a rum and raisin PVM.
  11. This has been on my mind recently and wanted to ask a few times for input from John. Many sports, no fixed training schedule, let them play and find out what they like, that was the default answer. Seeing this new younger age athletes (cycling, swimming) not sure this is still the case. These athletes must have had structured training and volume for years to perform like they do. This interest me, supporting a few disadvantage children runners and just seeing what a change in diet can do to their performance. This is going to sound strange, bear with me: I have asked a biokinetics if it is possible to take one of these children and turn them into world class athletes by structured training from a very young age, and he was not convinced it is possible.
  12. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/round-up-15-olympic-edition-bikes.html Between the Trek and the Liv. Like the Trek very much, a play on my dream paint job, Kalahari Sunrise.
  13. Awesome Patch! Great sport. Thank you! Thanks from the Upington Animal Welfare Society for the "ruim" donation of food and blankets. The donation of food came just at the right time.
  14. Yesterday on Pinkbike, bloke from Cannondale challenging Dangerholm to a kids bike build-off. Have to say the lefty dale kids bike look great as is.
  15. John bit off topic and if you can`t answer, understand 100%. Personally chuffed with the performance of Louis this year. Few years back mentioned a move to Trek or Cofidis that did no go down great. a Trek move still intrigues me, the question: Can Louis change is tactic and style of rider to become like Bauke Mollema or Kenny Ellisonde? Is teams looking for this or is a top 15 Tour result enough to stay relevant in Europe? This year his riding improved one or two days his bunch positioning cost him places or burned matches to close gaps. Would like to see Louis in more one day races, Il Lombaria!
  16. No word on the triathlon front. Henri is a medal hope. Not sure about Richards health, on good health outside chance.
  17. Thanks John.
  18. Any news on Louis? Think he only had a 1 year contract.
  19. Looking forward to the custom bikes! Hopefully a few rising of the sun themes.
  20. Lionel had a very good day. Shown swim improvement, set new PB, nothing to be a shame off. He has a massive social media following with his underdog status, mental strenght and crazy anticks.
  21. Day 3 in the Pyrenees. Been to a citrus farm this morning and see I have missed a bit... With our trip to the Pyrenees back in 2012 we did Luz Ardiden first and onto Tourmalet, as part of a 6000m ascent for the day. As a weekend warrior, I was not able to complete the stage and got off the bike after 11:30 min, managing a 18km average and 5200m ascent. Luz Ardiden will make my top 3 Col`s in the Pyrenees, beautiful climb with lots of switchbacks, you can see the top after the forest part. Luz Saint Sauvaur as town is also recomendable. Tourmalet was overrated personally, think DC, lots of cyclist, back up vehicles... Can recommend a trip to the Pyrenees, no cyclist of cycling enthusiast will be disappointed. Enjoy today`s stage.
  22. On to the the second day in the Pyrenees Our host for our trip was Velo Pyrenees, Lee and Julie are the host, tour guides, back up and chefs. Our trip was in September, we did not have the best of weather, for someone that operates in temperature above 40, it was a shock to my system. We had some coffee and crepe`s at the famous coffee shop atop Peyresourde, we would do the climb twice over the five days from different approaches. My French is and was non-existent, I manage to order 21 coffees between the six of us. I had my trusty XT310 Garmin from 2009 with me, but for this trip we had road maps for every day. There was one afternoon with some sunlight and our German friend, Arni, took up the opportunity for some sunbathing. As a present a few months later we received a coffee book from our German friends with pictures from our adventure. Proof that we made it to the top of Azet.
  23. Going to bore you with a few pics over the next three days of my trip in the Pyrenees way back in 2012. At the time if was this trip (50 col challenge vs Cape Epic) at about 60% of the cost of Epic. Not one day I regret my best decision ever to go to the Pyrenees. It is a must for all cycling enthusiast! We were a small group of 5, three Safa`s and two Germans. The one guy had a bike shop and fleet of e-bikes, what is a e-bike...? And even more enlightening, it was his money turner, having a fleet in a few towns.
