Gravel, only the ride out of (and into) BB is tar, except for the short part on the R24 & R500. I guess approx 31 Km tar, of which ~26km (13/13) is the out and in part. Ito safety - I did the Aug series (except for the 12h) and I never felt unsafe or threatened. Water : you might probably be able to get some items at Syferbult, at approx 92 Km, but if the water point is at the same pos (~90km) again this stop might not be required.
  5. Trek 920 is on special now.
  6. Strictly and only legally speaking - how should a cyclist* apologise (if the dog walker was negligent) so as to not put him in a possible disadvantage / liable position? (Although the ref is to an American site I believe more or less the same applies in SA?) *or any party involved in an incident / accident
  7. Yes. Did the MM 6h, 8h & 10h rides on my STF, no complaints. (2.25 at the rear)

  10. After approx 20 pairs of running with the GT 1000 series I have became a bit disillusioned with Asics. For me the 1000-8 was a disaster due to Asics changing / removing some shock absorption tech from the shoe or something. The 1000-9 uppers are quite thin and I already have holes in the uppers with not even 400 km on. (I did contact Asics SA about it. They took a pair in but never came back to me, so I guess it is time for a brand switch.) So where to next - Pegasus 37?
  11. I believe some ext facing API's have been stopped for a while from Garmin's side.
  12. https://www.strava.com/activities/3785161324 Is that the Pegasus 37 in the pics?
  13. I have seen a couple of reports stating the Pegasus 37 requires re-glueing with not even a lot of k's on. Anybody else saw similar reports? (IIRC RD Murray also mentioned it on his feed.)

  22. I am reluctant to mount my watch as it might damage the oHR 'lens'? Have anyone experience using this QuickFit® Quarter-turn Bike Mount
  23. Not to derail the discussion but just a quick note re this. I used my 3x HT also for the above reasons, so when venturing into the 1x / 2x world (only last weekend!) I plot out this to see what the actuals are. (Only the darker green ratios are really material.) With Veloviewer I also analysed the % time at speeds say above 35 km/h to try and determine how often did I really used the 44 - 11 combo. (Less than 5% on my ave tar jolly it seems. I also know I spend the most time on the 32t chainring) I went with 1x11, 36 crank with 11 - 42 cassette (as I don't do tech trail steep climbing stuff etc - this might become my 'touring' bike for gravel and tar.) So in the end I am losing a approx 2 km/h at the lower end and 8 km/h which I had with the 44 chain ring. (Quite a jump with that last ratio, from 13 - 44 to 11 - 44.) Time will tell
  24. I agree with this Chris. I am experimenting with various buffs / masks etc and can't say my ave heart rate is 'materially' impacted by even a 4 layer mask. (Two layers with filters in between) I have many runs over same distance and pace to compare against.
