  1. I was trailrunning in Groenkloof some time back and went right past a Mozambique Spitting cobra. Heard a rustle and looked back to see him/her reared up about a meter behind me. I screamed like a little girl . Never had such a fright in my life !
  2. Well done !
  3. when I got my Edge 500 from CRC I'm pretty sure there was 10% duty and then 14% vat on that total. Looking to get a 910XT now, so is it still like that or just VAT at 14% with the clearance (R30?) fee paid here at the PO?
  4. Well Phil Buys is also on Scott and USN ain't he...
  5. I have a big 5L of this stuff. Not bad but maybe I'm using it wrong so I've never had such good results with it.
  6. Hopefully you don't have to wait 7 months like I did for a new frame
  7. That suck! Near the bike park again?
  8. I'm a huge fan, from their self-titled album till know. Love AK's autobiography. I will miss John though, especially his falsetto singing at live shows ie. Slane Castle, how epic was Venice Queen there !? Perhaps Josh will find his feet in their next album, not 100% keen on his "on-off" guitar sound in "I'm with you". R.I.P. Hillel.
  9. Resurrecting this again. Tarmac what did you end up getting? I just bought the First Ascent Dry-Lite but now I see the CapeStorm Vantage 2.0 but can't find info on it. The 1.0 model was only half as breathable and waterproof 5000 vs 10000 water head rating as the FA jacket so unless the new one has improved on that I'm keeping the FA. The CS has a better fit as there's a XS. 200 bucks cheaper too and I like the hand pockets and rubber cuff strap. has better inside and chest pockets too. Need to order the right colour though. The FA has front venting and a better hood stash and adjustment system together with the better material, cooler colour as well. Zip garage is also nice with the fleece lining. Opinions?
  10. I have been waiting years to see them so I honestly hope I can still get GC tickets on Wednesday. I know the CT site is always sucky so would it be best to go to Checkers to buy them?
  11. Wait, I though tickets are only on sale from Wednesday ?
  12. I shall be in thee golder circle of of awesomeness
  13. My club shirt? Why it's in the wash ofcourse from riding with you guys the whole week
  14. Ranchilio Rocky and Silvia combo would be my pick. Go check on youtube for the seatlle coffee company they have awesome video reviews. You'll need to invest in more than something like the Krups I have, which is in for repair allready anyway. I think the Gaggia machines are a little below what you are actually looking for.
  15. I use Hope **** shifter but that's in the same vain as Powasol so can't really help you there
  16. Again be carefull of hot water, not so good for the grease on the bike ")
  17. Also try some ESI grips if you haven't allready Saw what you said about the wheels now. If you do get new wheels you can use the current ones to train or fit different tyres
  18. Eggbeater 3 pedals, Stan's or American Classic wheelset, Formula RX brakes. Solid kit that is light but won't cost a fortune but also actually provide a tangible difference. Just saving weight on parts doesn't seem to be your goal here, you want better functoinality. You can try the KCNC cockpit stuff as suggested but I would be weary at your weight, failures have been reported.
  19. Be carefull of dishwashing type soaps as they can contain a lot of salt which can cause corrosion if not rinsed well. Car shampoo as well, as it can contain wax which does not play well with disk brake pads and rotors.
  20. Oh ok velo is alligned with hot spot. THey go from the Engen garage corner atterbury and Hans Strijdom, saturdays there are groups but mostly they have quite a few fast riders, hammers sessions are the order of the day on the road. Would be keen on hte week rides but not anywhere near fit at this point
  21. Cool glad you finally got something, hope it works for ya !
  22. Having worked at Outdoorphoto where sending packages via courier/post office etc. was a daily occurance, I feel like I need to contribute here. We had our fare share of f*ups where expensive photographic kit went missing/was late/was never picked up for delivery etc. so I can understand how CWC prefers charging basically a flat rate for delivery. Yes it's a bit expensive for cheap items but on the whole: - The time it takes to deliver is guaranteed. - A trustworthy courier is used that means items should not be lost/stolen/broken. - You know what stuff will cost. Price + delivery flat rate. - There is a daily scheduled pick-up of parcels. Ensures parcels are sent the same day orders are placed. - Items are properly trackable online/telephonically - It's convenient for most not having to stand in line at SAPO. - Employees can focus on site maintanence and customer service, not queing at SAPO. - Less admin so things run smoother. A single courier service is easier to run effectively versus different couriers and SAPO. I'm sure there are many more positives but to me these make sense. Look at it from CWC's side. They want to keep us happy. Now if they send via SAPO so you can save money and be happy, but the tube you ordered takes a week to arrive and it has a hole in it, you have trouble tracking it and the people are rude to you at SAPO after you stood in a que for half an hour then your whole saving money happy experience goes out the door and you are immediately the moer in and CWC loses a customer. Now if you were to pay more but you have the tube on your office desk at 10am the next morning, in perfect condition, hand delivered by a friendly courier, I feel both you and CWC (or any other online shop) would be happy and it should offset the initial grumpyness of paying more for shipping. It's a Win-win. My 2c anyway. Someone also complained about CWC now "giving bad service" as Chris Jnr's girl now works there and gives him normal prices when he phones. I don't see how not getting a discount based on a personal relationship constitutes bad service ?
  23. Like it ! Weighs the same as my 26'er
  24. Groups as in shops or individuals ? Shops you can try are Cyclelab Lynnwood Bridge (Saturday mornings 7am, Road and MTB). FPC Gift Acres is also close, don't know if the do rides. Bruce Ryneke on Lynnwood Road should have rides. Hot spot in Atterbury Decor Mart should also have rides. Bester Cycles may have rides from their Waterkloof Ridge shop. Give them a buzz and enquire. Alternatively let us know how far and fast you'd like to ride and maybe we can join for a spin.
  25. Have a squiz in the current or previous Ride magazine, there is a piece about the UCI definitions of XCT, XCO etc. as they have updated these definitions.
