  1. They did have an insert/review on Giba this week or the one before that...
  2. Think I'll add one of these to my armoury, then I'm set for just about anything short of snow or a torrential downpour http://www.firstascent.co.za/product-details.php?prodid=773&catid=245&level=3
  3. I really like the FA kit and echo Dassie's comment. Most of my outdoor kit is made by them, save for a few capestorm bibs and running tights, the FA tights are too long for a small I feel if you invest a bit it will be money well spent and will last a few winters. I bought a whole range of winter stuff last season, even booties and a balaclava Cost a bit of money but now come winter each year I'm set and can ride comfortably.
  4. Garmin Training centre ?
  5. Funnily enough I also find Taxis to be the most considerate/accomodating of motorists. As others have said middle age men in 4x4's - you beter watch out for them ! Must say if people on the road just make their intensions known ie. signal then allot of this can be avoided. Also people sometimes seem uncertain as to what to do with a cyclist - like they wont pull away at a robot
  6. Ja dis die ding, treinspoor paaie is lekker vir LSD mar mens moet mar n paar wees wat ry
  7. My road bike is the best, 'cause it's paid for
  8. 450D with 400mm f5.6 in Kruger
  9. Hehehe well said !
  10. As julle ry laat weet mar sal wil join
  11. Bought a tub of the Berry flavour. I normally use PVM Octane and GU Gels. Not doing much riding lately and getting back into it, went to Groenies and did 2 laps. Made a bottle with it (30g powder and 500ml water) and took another just h2o bottle. Comparing Garmin data to previous rides my HR seemed lower as well as my perceived effort but slightly faster avg speed. Maybe it worked ? I'm guessing I'm just getting fit again Taste initially is good but once swallowed there is a very nasty after taste I don't like at all. Hard to describe, kinda like medicine or something. Stupid considering you supposed to take it after a long stage, then you dont want something foul tasting Didnt feel a mental or physical boost or skin tingle for that matter. Maybe I used it wrong, its just a booster so I should not take it alone but still use my normal carb drink with it ? Thought that for short under 2 hour rides you can use just the turbo on its own ? WW.
  12. You can take the E-type bracket off and use it as a directmount but not sure if it will work in your case to then bolts onto the bike. Maybe have a look on the shimano site under technical docs there are exploded diagrams for the derialleurs.
  13. Seems you want a proper UST tubeless wheelset ? Otherwise maybe look at the American Classic's or building a Stan's wheel.
  14. Running in cycling shoes, haibo ! Would be cool to have a shoe with a switch that disengages the sole to make it bendable when you need to walk/run/climb
  15. I don't understand how cycling companies all seem to make gloves that don't keep our hands warm as they are supposed to ? It's not even that cold in SA for the most part. I bough a pair of Xakt winter gloves and even with liners hands still got cold
  16. Alu is R20k RRP, Unsure which carbon models are available here, carbon 2 about R38k. SA site shows a carbon 3 but shops not really clear as to whether it is actually available here in SA
  17. Nope haven't bought it yet, may still do so
  18. Heroes Wear Red @ Tings `n Times Canon 450d with 50mm f1.8 : Aperture priority, 1/80sec @ f1.8 1600 ISO Totally desaturated the shot.
  19. Rode the bike, like it and doesnt feel too funny, but still not ideal to judge from a carpark ride. May go for a 110mm stem and put my narrower bars on, the wide bendy ones on the bike just doesnt do it for me
  20. Bass fishing at Lakenvlei on Nikon Coolpix L4
  21. Covie IMO 1,4kg for an alu frame is light, considering my GT is carbon and weighs 1,5kg. Unless there are very light alu frames I'm not aware of ?
  22. Magneto to stop the wind, R99 base layer from MR. Price sport, jersey and arm warmers. But depends also - mtb or road with the wind chill difference and how cold it gets where you stay
  23. Yeah Kinda agreeing with Hendrich here. I understand it can scratch, but they should then either replace it for free or not attach a 12month period to it if you need to pay in an amount IMO. Otherwise I can just as well buy a "grey" pair and replace the whole thing if scratched, will have new glasses for a few bucks more than one pair and new lense will cost me locally
  24. Well Emily Batty won the Sea Otter while riding the SID 29er for the 1st time
