  1. I think the SL8 will make you a happy guy ... you can run 30c and it'll smash your PBs
  2. TBH they are the stock DT Swiss G540 that come standard with the bike, but the 47c Pathfinders with skin wall defs make it look great - my first upgrade soon is a set of Terra C's though, on 23mm internal width, look even better - not to mention 600g lighter. A whole lot of media on this on youtube - but from my view the 47c makes the crux a whole lot more capable of absorbing the bumps while still being a very jump up and go bike. Ive also got a diverge and will defs be comparing them over the autumn/winter events. TBH im no podium contender, i just like options - and the crux looks cooler 😝 FWIW - Matt 🍻 is on the STR at the moment. I think the endurance racing in the US requires higher priority on comfort, and also he has a 500w FTP so he can make it fast 🤣
  3. I mean technically the Crux is a CX bike trying to be a gravel bike 😂
  4. NBD - My first mint-new bike in a while, zero miles, waiting on some dirt 👌 Credit to Freewheel Cycology and Jayden for excellent service as usual 💨🤩 Now for that Zwartberg entry ...
  5. Turned out nicely 👌 Might remix the shape at some point, but seems like it will work
  6. First time riding the new surface over Bains Kloof - surprised it wasnt busier, if there is such a thing as champagne-tarmac, this is that! 😁
  7. Found this design here --> https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3231772 Playing with this for the kickr bike so i can use a 1.5l bottle for the single mount.
  8. Im the first one to dive into these exact types of projects where there is a much better product available for delivery to your door from takealot. not about the money, not about knowing you designed and solved the problem yourself, but sometimes aesthetic needs to win the argument. My end result in the pics
  9. Can you tell the difference? 😁
  10. excellent - but didnt realise the jump from 90 to 100% infill was so geometric - strength to weight and overall breaking point almost double!
  11. Slicing doesnt look to bad - ill print one quick and leave it at Tygerberg Specialized for collection @Stumpmeister
  12. the sledgehammer tests on the new axs transmission RD are impressive too - but really building on what is an already robust design.
  13. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5616250 not sure how nice this will print, a lot of detail here im not sure what purpose this cage really serves ...
  14. weather is actually looking good for tomorrow - bummed not to be riding
  15. Use 100% infill folks 🫣 also: don't Eddie Mercx your designs too much 🤐
  16. got to say that the weather is all over the place for Sunday - good luck all you legends!
  17. I feel we are already all running with a Di2 battery thats good enough to be the "reservoir" for auxiliary needs. We just need shimano to give us the cable ...
  18. yet another mobile app, to install, give away kyc etc etc when a perfectly rendered web site would work.
  19. Both work really well on the Hammerhead Karoo 2. Dedicated screens for controlling both built in by default , and ofc integrated traffic display with cars etc auto speed lighting also works, and also switches off front light when stopped, for some reason not the radar. (I switch them both off at the end of the ride anyway, but would be nice at coffee stop to save battery). the UT800 came out 6 years ago and actually targeting trail/mtb riders. The full power light beam, and width is really good, then dimms right back to 200lumens when you are climbing up the trail.
  20. Keen to see your end result of using extended cables to charge on the bike - a harness of sorts (in my mind im imagining some electrician or engineer build one) I tend to agree that running these inside the bike with a powerbank (like the cannondale ride sense) will add unnecassary weight, and more rattle oppertunities. But if Shimano would open the central Di2 battery, which lasts forever, to purely an additional cable setup, i could see it becoming very common as we all move to Di2, already run lights, power meters and computers. This would be super stealthy.
  21. Backing out a bit, I started off getting the Varia 515 in December for the rear (Garmin were running a special), and off of that moment of being impressed, decided to get the front light, which wasnt cheap. The two lights cost R7k - and will recommend them easily off these merits: 1 - rear - cars drive around me now, the light lets them know im there as they get closer, and just works. The light is bright, probably the brightest ive seen on a bike. As a result, im way more relaxed riding up roads and passing cyclists, even cutting corners knowing there are no cars behind me. TL:DR - this has made road cycling way more relaxing, should have got one years ago. 2 - front - the magic with the UT800 is the speed sensitive auto-light adjustment. the other piece of magic is being able to control the light modes from my touch screen, which is great, no fiddling around the front, i set and forget. it also switches on/off by itself when the ride starts/ends too. The definition of a lumen is different among manufacturers. ive had 1000 lumen lights not as bright as this one at 800, so i wouldnt read into that if you think its low. I was caught off guard this weekend when i realised there isnt much ambient light until 0620, summer is beginning its departure, and early morning rides are totally feasible with this light.
  22. exactly this 🔥 Cannondale a bit proprietary tho im surprised garmin cant centralise power off a Di2 battery to power varias and a couple of generics. power crank would be a challenge ofc
  23. Di2/AXS/Varia Rear/Varia Front/bike computer/power meter etc at some point bikes should come with an integrated BUS for charging all these things 🫣
  24. ive probably printed this design a dozen times already - i kept getting stuck with too many tree supports and a k*k finish under the mount. i stumbled on Cheps youtube channel and discovered custom supports as a marketplace plugin for cura - what a discovery! Cheps custom profiles for cura are excellent too - my ender 3 has a new lease on life!
  25. why not run the moonbag directly off the bars? or do you want the frame to create space? id run 100% infill on that design, those clamps will be working hard. FWIW i honestly dont get the point of the moonbags over a top tube bag or front triangle bags which you can access during the ride.
