  1. Our gardener rocked up at our place on his newly donated bike (an old steel Giant mtb). He was very proud of his new machine and chuffed that he had ridden from home and saved on taxi fair. Of course, being interested in bikes of any sort, I sidled over for a bit of tyre kicking... and nearly crapped myself! There was a hug tear in the front tyre side wall. the front wheel was so buckled, he had uncoupled the V brake. The rear brake's cable was so dirty, the brake hardly released. The back tyre was so worn and smooth, it was paper thin. the drive train was so dirty, the cranks barely turned. when I did manage to turn them, I noticed that the non drive side arm was loose and about to fall off, but the bolt was tight. something inside was badly worn. AND he had no helmet and no lights I got a real fright and felt that it was dangerous for him to ride and couldn't let him go home like that. I gave him an old helmet and lights and went off to the LBS for new tubes, tyres, grips and brake cables. After giving the bike a really thorough Clean Green shower, I set about fixing what I could. Luckily, the gears were working well (amazingly). LBS was too busy to look at the front wheel, perhaps I can get it sorted when he is next around. But I am still looking for a crankset. Does anyone have one that is of donate-able quality?
  2. I am looking for a set of these I-Spec brackets for the XT M780 shifters Does anyone have a set or know where I can get a pair?
  3. I have about R1000 worth, but am not able to do the order myself, so was hoping to get in on someone elses order
  4. Does anyone have a CRC order ready or waiting to go in Cape Town? I have a few items that I would like to order, but not enough for free shipping...
  5. I don't think this has anything to do with Bishops, just about every cycle lane in Cape Town looks like that. The council painted those lanes years ago, but they are terrible. Another great idea badly excecuted. We live opposite a school in Claremont. Its frightening to watch how the parents drive and where they think they can park.
  6. Is that the 2013 On-One Mary handle bar hanging up in the back ground?
  7. According to the shop owners I have chatted to, the rear shock has been updated/graded and should be better than last year's model. Nice looking bikes
  8. Yoh, I remember crying my eyes out when I watched that movie as a lightie. That and ET...
  9. Another awesome machine Do these frames have the 142x12 rear axle and Fox CTD rear shock? The V is going to ruin his undies again when he sees that cable routing...
  10. inja = dog masende = balls

  13. any opinions or options on the headset?
  14. I am switching from 3x9 26" with 11-34 to 2x10 29" with 11-36, but will be running 38-24 rings Just waiting for one or two parts before the build takes place.
  15. Did anyone put their large OneTen29 frame on a scale before building it up? I see that the XL is 3.3kg Oh, and what headset works with this frame? The Pyga website says 44mm press-fit cup on top and a 52mm drop-in lower bearing
  16. The cover plate is included on the XT M770 shifters, but not the new M780 - FAIL! Instructions here: http://www.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/tech_support/tech_tips.download.-Par50rparsys-0023-downloadFile.html/17)%20Optical%20Gear%20Display%20Removal.pdf And finding those little covers thingies for the M780 shifters is difficult. apparently Coolheat doesn't bring them in and they dont seem to be available on too many online shops.
  17. Awesome!! Did you by any chance weigh the frame?

  25. What a great evening! Good fun with mates and I managed to get my wife on a bike for the first time in years. I loved how some people took it as an opportunity to dress up and decorate their bikes. Fantastic vibe!
