  1. I'd wager that its 10 x that amount in the past 2 months
  2. Those signs are all over the place, including MTB routes and hiking trails. It's not a PPA thing, but its the best that an entity with no real power can achieve. They best they can do is attempt to warn you. Its better than nothing. (Sort of...) But the 'rotten fish heads' don't do much and feel that a 'Band Aid has been put over the tumour', so it's OK for now. (Two quotes previously used by other Hubbers)
  3. I forgot to ask about an incident involving a cyclist on Main Rd in Lakeside last weekend. Just near the church and the Boyes Drive traffic lights. There was a fire engine in attendance. Hope the cyclist is OK
  4. OK, so my recent experience was actually pretty OK. I 'ordered' 2 items online last Thursday (One of which was R1000 cheaper than anywhere else, so it felt worth the admin) They sent their quote on Friday evening. which I paid immediately. They confirmed receipt of payment on the Saturday saying that they will now prepare the order and dispatch as soon as its ready. Cynical me said 'OK, so now starts the wait'. The stuff arrived unannounced this morning (Thursday)! I was going to be cross about no tracking number, but I have the items in my hand, so best I be grateful. Not much admin or a particularly long wait, so definitely worth it!
  5. Agreed. Its very laborious indeed, but sometimes their low prices are worth the admin. If you have time on your side...
  6. That section is fine, but you have to under this problematic Church Street bridge to get there if you are coming from Milnerton side. If you are coming from Southern Suburbs, you need to go over the bridge. Also a problem.
  7. Yes, have reverted to that gauntlet. That Gympie Street section used to be the problem, which shifted people to the N1. And then the bike lane was built and now we are back to Main Rd again. Options are limited ! The Castle area has been cleared and fenced off, but there is still the bridge to get under before you get there...
  8. Sad news https://www.teamsa.co.za/sa-cycling-great-willie-engelbrecht-dies/
  9. Did you guys have an 'incident' after the Robertson circle ? We were navigating our way around the 2nd one and I thought that I saw you guys stopped there for a bit. All OK ?
  10. I saw him this morning smashing Suikerbossie (check for new KOM) The bike didn't match the kit, so Googled him again and I see that he will be with Red Bull - BORA - Hansgrohe for the next 2 years.
  11. There was also someone in UAE Emirates. Does anyone know who that was ?
  12. 70th anniversary Colnago Steelnovo (€17,500) 70-piece limited run Columbus steel tubing with 3D printed lugs Mind blowing! https://velo.outsideonline.com/news/the-colnago-steelnovo-is-a-3d-printed-steel-bike-celebrating-70-years/ https://www.colnago.com/en/products/steelnovo-bike
  13. That light is very clever !
  14. Sounds awesome ! My (steel) Mercer isn't 'that' heavy. Have you looked at any bikes yet? Has anything caught your eye ? What sort of riding do you in between touring ? Would this be your every day bike ?
  15. This sounds like fun Where are you planning on going ? and on what bike ? (I am due for another trip. Its been a while)
  16. Yes to carbon frames (and everything that you say is also applicable to steel frames)
  17. Stellenbosch is a general sh!t show at the moment. Carte Blanch did a whole thing about the students being kidnapped for quick turn around ransom. Apart from the general high rate of muggings (and murders) in previously safe areas.
  18. This should apply to everyone. There shouldn't be new or different rules.
  19. Comments on Social Media: Jake going to fight Joe Biden next This reality: Jake Paul beats Mike Tyson, gets clowned for fighting an old man. Alternate reality, Jake Paul loses to Mike Tyson, gets clowned for losing to an old man.

  21. In a world of random and silly upgrades, there is right up there. It's so cool though! https://framesandgear.com/products/trek-disc-brake-direct-mount-derailleur-hanger?_pos=1&_fid=df8eba958&_ss=c Impulsive purchase after seeing it here: https://bikerumor.com/tadej-pogacars-limited-edition-colnago-v4rs/
  22. Another lady was relieved of her phone there recently. A sizeable group (two groups of 4 from opposite directions) boxed her in and very politely took what they wanted. When she reported it at the cop shop, she was one of 10 for that day. So, most of the incidents don't make their way here. Which means that the situation is way worse than we think it is.
  23. Don't change your stem, but rather look at the reach of your handle bars. Older bars were set at about 100mm Newer bars are about 80mm or so to compensate for the longer hoods of disc brakes
