SAPO There was a choice of COD or over the counter when I collected.

There isnt a choice with them - Its DHL. But the snail version. And they didnt actually have the item in stock as indicated - they still had to get it in from states and then dispatch it to me. A very slow and laborious process. Luckily, I am not in a rush. The previously unreliable SAPO was actually amazing quick, so they werent the weak link the chain. In contrast, ordering from Merlin is super quick. Its strange that others cant be like that. Anyway, this thread is about Bike Inn and I hijacked it slightly...

Update: Just collected from the local Post Office after they phoned and messaged. They actually tried to deliver it to my house this morning, but I was out This is 3 days after clearance from DHL (and that took 3 days on its own). So, faith in SAPO restored. Moral of the story: understand the shipping policy. Economy DHL is incredibly slow.

That was my experience with them. To be honest, it could have been done while the package was en route so that the transition was seamless. But alas...

I ordered from Starbike.com and I don't think that I fully understood their shipping policy, so I have a terrible feeling that they drop it off at SAPO.

Probably But also, the XTR upgrade kits were available here in SA a few days after launch. But once those are sold, there probably wont be another batch for quite a while...

Booking.com has a function where available accommodation that meets your criteria is shown on a map and I found spots that were as close as possible to my route. I didn't want to ride across town to get to my B&B, and then ride back again the next morning to get back onto my route. This is obviously a bigger issue in Oudtshoorn, George, Knysna and Plett which are quite spread out compared to Greyton, Swellendam etc.

If you were to order one, could I piggy back on yours (and share the very expensive shipping cost) ? I am in Cape Town...

I would stay off the N7 at all costs. Way too much traffic. The other road is fine. Pot holed, but ridable.
