  1. My wife and I witnessed an incident that got unpleasant this morning on Main Rd in Lakeside (probably around 8:30'ish. We were pootling along towards the Westlake traffic lights when a group of roadies came charging past us - they were a little spread out and riding at pace. Cars ahead were slowing down as you past the Woolies/bakery on the left and then the Spar parking before the lights. The group of cyclists were a bit 'all over the place', but were quite far ahead when I heard cars hooting, so don't know what happened. When we got to the lights, a few of the cyclists were having a shouting match with one of the cars. We scuttled past as the lights went green, only to be caught at the next lights near the BP garage. Things really escalated here with more shouting, MsP'ing, spitting and eventually somebody smacked the wing mirror so that the glass broke and the housing was hanging off. There was revving and the car tried to move to the side while other cars were hooting. We didnt want to hang around and get caught in anything, so scuttled off again as the lights went green and we turned left at the BP to head into Kirstenhof, when the car with the wing mirror hanging off came past at pace - high revs, late braking, stressed tyres on the corners, with no indicators. Either he was fleeing or rushing to the Kirstenhof police station. We didn't see anything after that. So, I don't know who did what to whom and when. But I get the feeling that there were no real winners from that altercation. We will never hear the motorist's side of things, but it would be interesting to hear if anyone else saw what happened.
  2. He may be able to get an 11-46 to work It may be OK, but a Wolf Tooth Roadlink DM would make it work better. I am not sure (and I stand to be corrected) if that 11spd Shimano rear mech will stretch to a 51 cassette. The new 1x12 long cage one is meant for that. But search the interwebs, there are lots of people who have tried lots of combos and some of them work well.
  3. Who are you calling a cup cake ? I'm a fully fledged stud muffin! 🤣
  4. This is amazing ! He can send an email from the oil rig, but cant make online payments? Also, he will pay R1250 for a courier for a R2000 item ? And what dodgy crap is Skill and making payments via Shoprite ? WTF? Clearly, this is a tactic that seems to have achieved some success over the years
  5. Can we start another poll with this bike ? (1 of 2 in the country...) https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/road-bike-frames/688081/colnago-c68-only-1-available-in-the-country
  6. An interesting article here: https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/froome-aims-to-set-up-cycling-academy-in-kenya-find-tour-de-france-magic-in-2024/ I understand him better now after reading that last paragraph. The past few articles about him had a different focus. Looking forward to seeing what he achieves in the coming season.
  7. Check the 1st comment 🤣
  8. Greenbelts and Tokai (sort of new bike day too. I had the frame resprayed and rebuilt it with new gruppo, dropper and wheels)
  9. I am being doff and cannot find that setting... Its not all dealers. Just the one. But I might add more if there was a specific block/ignore function like there is for users in forum/chat sections.
  10. Not sure if this is the right place to post this question: Is it possible to block or ignore somebody in the Classified section ? I.E. scroll the classifieds without seeing their adverts (the amount of which feel like spam). Possibly a strange question, but there it is...
  11. How long are you going to make us wait for pics ?
  12. Do you know if they apply the wrap for you, or is it DIY or perhaps an LBS job ?
  13. That wasn't the end of it. 3 runners (and even a marshal apparently) were mugged during the event itself https://www.news24.com/news24/southafrica/news/three-ultra-trail-runners-mugged-during-100-mile-race-in-cape-town-20231125
  14. That looks like a section of the Kirstenbosch Loop (above the actual gardens)
  15. I found that the little clip that holds the light in place is the first to go.
  16. 'Over forking' the bike could lead to issues in the warranty department. Perhaps not an issue on older frame. In reality, I cant see that an extra 20mm travel would stress the frame out that much...
  17. https://www.trekbikes.com/za/en_ZA/equipment/bike-accessories/bike-lights/bike-light-sets/c/E229/ I run this option because I ride in the dark. Front light under my Garmin and rear light attached to the saddle rails. Neat and very effective along with the Garmin connection, where you can see the battery life and get them to switch on and off when you start/finish your ride.
  18. We saw this poor guy on Suikerbossie the other morning. Would it be a boom slang? (I don't think that it was sleeping, so may have been squished by a car and this is as far as it got)
  19. I am glad that he is staying on and having another go at it. But I find it amazing that he rode with the wrong bike setup for so long. https://road.cc/content/news/chris-froome-reveals-bike-set-discrepancies-304917
  20. Lots has changed since my post - new bike and new lights (Trek and Bontrager Blendr). But there are more options now than there were back in 2018.

  22. I had this Teng wrench for ages. It was great that you can take it to get calibrated by their workshop. Bit sets: https://teng-tools.co.za/products/m3813tx https://teng-tools.co.za/products/m3812
  23. So much of Wow! https://bikerumor.com/specialized-s-works-aethos-ltd-in-italian-marble-with-campy-super-record-wireless/
  24. We were there for a DC Team ride, not to race in echelons in the crosswinds. Our final mileage was 120km, so not as good as the original 150km, but better than the end result of less than 100km.
