  1. Got a 'normal' bike with 13000km on the clock. Shimano 105 (9spd) BB is running fine.
  2. With only motorists phoning in, hopefully it doesn't reinforce the fact that some cyclists can be rude, obnoxious, law breaking, arrogant etc etc, and that we are all painted with the same brush. I hope there was some balance by the end of the show.
  3. Pampers wet wipes work well all over the bike. The wife doesn't like the hose method...
  4. 1. Muc-Off cleaner 2. Paraffin 3. White Lightning
  5. The funeral parlour usually cleans the casket for you.... (Sorry, couldn't resist )
  6. Try This: https://secure2.entries.co.za/CycleTourOnline/Pages/General/ViewSeeding.aspx
  7. Found it! Group E What a SCHLEPP!!
  8. How do you see your group? It says that I am seeded, and my start time is 7:05, but no group...
  9. Well done!! I hope they take this up with thier drivers and we get some sort of positive repsonse.
  10. Open Pro's on good hubs put together by a good wheel builder are bomb proof and should last for a long time, hassle free. I weigh 100kg and ride 36 spoke Open Pro's on Ultegra hubs. Love them!
  11. Try this website: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/Default.aspx?Main=CategoryProducts.aspx&Cat=cycle&w=0&CategoryName=Frames%20-%20Road
  12. What time do you ride and what is the route? Also, what sort of speed do you ride at. How many people are you expecting?
  13. There is a similar debate on weight weenies: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=238573#238573 Some interesting answers and opinions there too. There is a certain sex appeal to deep section carbon wheels with tubbies.
  14. EISH! Are tubeless tyres so good that they are worth R500.00 a puncture? Are they a good idea for ordinary joe's? I mean people who race, but don't get team cars and road side support with spare wheels etc. I wouldn't want to use them for training etc. I was reading up on the pro's and con's of clinchers vs tubbies.(http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tyres.html). Interesting reading!
  15. How does one fix a punctured tubby? You surely don't throw it away and buy a new one?
  16. HAHAHA, I know Ruscar, apart from the fact that she is a VERY good physio indeed, you are contractually oblidged to say that anyway!
  17. Ruscar: that is a slightly biased opinion...
  18. Didn't Iban Mayo have a special bike built for the Mont Ventoux time trial in the 2004 Dauphin? Lib?r?? Short wheel base and stupid light frame etc. Obvisouly it still had to be 6.8kg. http://www.cyclingnews.com/teamtech04.php?id=tech/2004/probikes/euskaltel_orbea Lance stripped his special edition Trek down as well to include down tube shifters! http://www.cyclingnews.com/teamtech04.php?id=tech/2004/probikes/madone_ssl_armstrong That was a while ago. Things have moved on a bit...
  19. But Fatty..... ITS NOT TITANIUM!!!!
  20. Agree with Desertbob. Phenominal mountain bike trails in the area.
  21. There is Knysnal Cycle works and Action Cycles, I think. Usually pretty helpful and friendly. If you are wanting fairly long rides, you are pretty limited to riding along the N2 in either direction. Apart from getting boring if you are riding often, Its a bit dangerous in a few spots... I will be in Plett for a few days and will be joining Kevin Evans' morning rides. Same story there. Dodgy and Boring N2 for the most part...
  22. PPA did another seeding run using a winning time of 2:47:43 for the TdWL.
  23. Thanks Nellie! Looking forward to it!
