$ 20 000.00
+1 for Thule
I tried 2 other budget options and then got the VeloCompact 3. My only regret was not doing that first as I wasted a lot of money to get to that point.

Anyone want to hazard a guess on the price tag ?
I'm pretty sure it'll make the S-Works seem quite ordinary...

I was referring the rapidly growing middle class in China that is quite brand conscious and looks to spend on brands like Pinarello, Colnago, Look , Parlee etc. That volume is keeping those boutique brands going.
we established brands like rolls Royce , Ferrari , are making money hand over fist becssue while a recession is happening , the rich are immune and profit off of that recession. High prices bicycles are targeting those wallets but that’s a highly competitive market.

Ja, this all seems to familiar.
Spidey senses are tingling.
Thanks for confirming.

I will not continue the chat with him.
I have a bike up for sale on Facebook, BikeHub and Gumtree. There have been a few nibbles, one oil rig worker and now I get this guy.
Google isn't coming up with any hits as a known scammer, but the Modus Operandi feels similar (he is in America, but wants to buy this bike for his son etc).
I don't know which advert he is responding to.
He contacted my via SMS (smscaster.com), which raised the first alarm.
collinsgregoryjohn@gmail.com is his 'personal email'

Why ?
Storm damage again ?
And when you say 'unrideable', I hear people say 'Challenge Accepted'.

Trek UK are doing the same thing:

Hi also contacted me about my bike for sale via FB Marketplace.
Correction: I think that it was via Gumtree asking for my email address. The contact name there was Principle. And then it was Mitchell Barret via email.
Similar story, but insists on paying via Payoneer.
Somehow logging onto internet banking and doing a normal EFT isn't secure...
Anyway, I said: 'Funds into my FNB account - cleared before the 'pickup agent' collects. Otherwise no deal.'
He didn't like that, so we don't have a deal.

Sent a mail to Assos direct explaining the situation, not actually expecting anything. Within 1 hour got a response from a service consultant asking for invoice, pic of saddle etc, sent mail with all the info.
Will give a update on the outcome, cannot fault them for speed of reply, more than I got from the agents in SA. 😀
If you are in comms with head office, perhaps ask if there is a published list of un/acceptable saddles. A secret list is just too easy to hide behind.

Oh wait...you mean the Trek unit! Yes a bit bulky!
I think that the 715 is chunky compared to the 515 (150 vs 70g)
Not that the weight is an issue, its just twice the size.
Perhaps, once its on your bike, you don't notice.
But I have a mate who had one on a mount below the saddle, and it looked massive.
In comparison, the Trek CarBack unit is 90g
Its shorter, but wider and fatter than the 515.
What I like about the Garmin units is that they 'panic' flash when a car is getting closer. Not sure if the Trek unit changes its flash pattern.
I have been collecting bits since November and then built it up again over the last 3 weeks.
(New gruppo, wheels, tyres, bar, stem, seatpost etc.)
It feels fast and smooth. Disc brakes and Di2 are an amazing upgrade over the previous gen Ultegra.

To answer my own question: Not going to be here for a while. It needs to clear all sorts of hurdles with electronics and frequencies and permissions and red tape and admin.

Its also a MASSIVE lump of equipment
Any idea on price and and availability here in SA?

Main Road through Woodstock is being resurfaced, which is great!
It will be interesting to see what happens with the bike lane, which was a bit fictitious anyway...
Oh, and coming over the Bakery Bridge towards Amazon, the new traffic flow and intersections there will be challenging. Unless there is something formal in place, I see a lot of traffic turning right from Observatory towards Maitland causing issues.
