  1. It's been a while since I have been up Ou Kaapse Weg
  2. There was an incident involving cyclists and motor bikes this morning on Chapman's peak. They closed the road for a while. Does anyone know anything more about it ?
  3. He hasn't brought new stock over in ages, so there isn't much available (depending on your size). It's a pity, as they are great bikes.
  4. Not missed. Mentioned above. But Ill take the opportunity to flex a bit Here's the frame he made for me : https://www.instagram.com/p/CbQATetq-Zm

  7. Remember this guy: 'kempekkernoglia' That deserves more than 31 days ! But then again, it was hard to take him seriously...
  8. That looks like the sensible version of Silca's computer mount
  9. Curve (Benky) had some Kevin of steel frames. https://benky-rides.com/products/curve-kevin-of-steel-iii-xl-demo There were a few steel Rondo frames - not sure if there are any left though. I have seen a few Standert bikes cruising, but have no idea if or who distributes them here. https://standert.de/collections/gravel-adventure I got my steel frame made by Dave Mercer. Not imported or custom, but his 'off the shelf' geometry. These look like fun. Dan Craven from Namibia (with a bit of help from Mercer) https://onguza.com/en-za
  10. The do carbon, alu and steel.
  11. Yes. lovely stretch! For the OP: The Keurboom Rd from the N2 is also nice, and you can do the climb from there up to the N2. It pops out near the top, thus cutting out of bit of the highway.
  12. Riding 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 abreast is annoying AF for the motorist. I get that. But its not those riders who are being mowed down. So, its not their safety that is really at risk. It would be interesting to take all the car vs cyclists collisions and analyse them for fault. Both my wife and I have been knocked off our bikes in a similar fashion to Pure Savage. Riding on our own with lights on the left of the road etc. The drivers all said that they 'Just didn't see us ! ' When you go for a ride, you say goodbye to your spouse as you jump on your bike and they say 'be careful out there'. You try and do most of the right things, but you rely heavily on all other road users to do their part by looking where they are going etc. Ask the guy that had 1/2 his leg ripped off by that drunk driver a few weeks ago. Perhaps riding like a tjop means that car have a better chance of seeing you. Its not the right thing to do. but...
  13. Some nice options. The N2 plays a role on most routes Having a GG does open things up a bit
  14. Road from Plett past the airport to the N2 is now tarred and is nice to ride. The stretch from there along the N2 back to Plett is not so awesome as you have Kwanokuthula to contend with. The R340 is also lovely from the N2 past Wittedrift and up the pass, but it turns to dirt after a few KM.
  15. That is awesome, but does require a bit of riding on the N2. Generally a wide shoulder, except for a stretch at the Crags. So, not too hectic
  16. Isn't it already like that ?
  17. I would look at Vye or Van H for local stuff And possibly also Monton (imported)
  18. There is an element to the conversation where unarmed bystanders (passing motorists) are not willing/able to intervene in an armed robbery for concern if their own safety. People not stopping to help after the incident is quite k@k.
  19. Yes please. Keen to give it a go. I will DM you
  20. Bontrager Flare RT rear light with a GoPro mount/adaptor Not at all heavy
  21. And then you get these clowns: https://road.cc/content/news/two-boys-16-arrested-after-cyclists-mown-down-306529

    Canyon Grizl

    Clever packaging !
  23. Yes, the local range of Giro helmets is also quite limited. Maybe the higher end stuff got very expensive and Omnico may struggle to move stock. Just guessing though.
  24. The elastomers in the stem should be related to your weight as well
