  1. And check my previous comments: Sponsors got value for money at the time, How do you ask for money back on a long expired contract in which you got what you wanted?
  2. The US Postal may be a little different, but in general sponsors whose sponsorships contracts have long expired will have a hard time proving that they did not recieve fair value during the term of their contracts. How can you breach an expired contract?
  3. On what basis can they demand their money back ? When he rode for them he delivered the advertising exposure that they paid for - in spades. It would be hard to claim that they have not received fair value for their money.
  4. If you are going uphill yes, if you are going downhill no.
  5. My friend and longtime training partner (and a onetime SA 1500m track Champ) last week won a R300 000 + Costs settlement for a jogger who broke her leg in a pothole in Louis Trichardt: Read the story here : http://www.zoutnet.co.za/details/27-08-2012/council_must_pay_up/14612
  6. Just make sure your Doc is a cyclist such as my GP (& my urologist) ! Read about my GP here http://zoutpansberger.co.za/details/12-07-2012/dr_casper_completes_epic_freedom_challenge/13970
  7. I was competive doing 12- 15 hrs/week for about 10 years before we married started a family, and ended up with 4 kids 10 years later before I got a snip. Now 45 years after joining my first cycling club I've cut back to 4-6 hrs per week ... I guess cycling made me too fertile.... And all those years ( and now) I rode a Rolls Saddle or its predecessor with the same shape.
  8. After decades of fierce opposition to the use of all contraception, the Pontiff has ended the Church’s absolute ban on the use of condoms. He said it was acceptable to use a prophylactic when the sole intention was to “reduce the risk of infection” from Aids. While he restated the Catholic Church’s staunch objections to contraception because it believes that it interferes with the creation of life, he argued that using a condom to preserve life and avoid death could be a responsible act – even outside marriage.
  9. Thanks for the links, and welcome to the Hub !

  12. I bought this Campag spanner with my first set of Campag Cranks from Deale & Heuth 44 main street Jhb. Was less than R 3.00 Try Them !
  13. Set the strobe to flash at 8 Hertz, that way it can be used as a defensive weapon. 8 Hertz is a brain wave frequency, and can bright lights at that frequency can induce disorientation and even an epileptic fit in susceptible people.
  14. Saw that Spinny. The chop did not hafta know about the podium finishes.

  16. Spinny finished in (a fair for him - he has done better) 5 hours 4 min
  17. There have been times that I have flown down that road with the wind behind. But no matter what the wind, that climb drag out of the Saltpans kills the legs.
  18. This is about the first time there has been a head wind on Stage 2. Have a look at the maps of the route put out by the club, they show that the wind is supposed to give a big push on stage 2. We often have an easterly wind in the morning and a westerly wind after lunch , giving a push both ways. It had to happen sometime .. . .
  19. Kremetart should be up on Champion chip results page shortly. Colin H has a way to travel though first. http://za.onreg.com/results/
  20. I've had 38 parcels from them , all either Parcel Force or Royal Mail. Delivery for all has been about 10 days, except for one over Christmas and New year which took another 10 days. No miss in 38 parcels. 38 Hits, all intact, customs correct. It seems a good enough record. Why pay more for DHL if 10 days delivery is not a sweat ?
  21. Ok, who remembers the old track at Grand central ? I was 12 years old when I rode by bicycle from Modderfontein to Grand Central along the dirt roads though Limbro Park to watch John Love in his D Type Jaguar win there. (19th March 1960 - Google is majic for memories)
  22. Late '60's early '70's
  23. No, They are OK, they are not pink and fluffy
  24. This is the Presidential Palace in Suriname. It has a 600mm high stone wall in front to protect it from a busy public road - nothing else. Why are our leaders afraid of those who elect them?
