  1. The Missus took Marsie to the vet to-day to be sterilised. We decided that there are plenty of unwanted pups without her, pretty as she is , adding to the pool. After all Marsie was an unwanted pup herself when I found her abandoned to her fate and all alone in Roodewal forest on July 26th last year. Here she is outside the Vet in the car this morning.
  2. He runs faster - but he has to remount at the top.
  3. Well worth it . Got them on both my MTB bikes. great
  4. The event will take place somewhere within the red track. The exact route decided on closer to the time - there is probably several hundred kilometre of track to choose from in the picture. It will have a good mix of jeep and single track with a fair bit of climbing.
  5. Event Name: TOTAL Kremetart MTB XCO When: 8 June 2014 Where: Louis Trichardt -, Limpopo Category: MTB This MTB XCO is an Limpopo Colours Qualifying event. The event takes place in Hanglip forest on the Sunday after the Kremetart One Day Stage Race (road race). Entries open on the 1st Feb 2014 - online by TimeMe Go to Event Page
  6. Ok so who foots your cycling bill? At 18 hours a week you are going to go through tyres, chains, cassettes brake pads and shoe cleats. And even if your bike, clothes, shoes, helmets and gloves last you 3 years that probably will work out at R500.00 per month to replace.
  7. She is now a far cry from the hungry tick infested pup that growled at me from under the log pile in Roodewal forest. When I attempted to hoist her onto my bike then it was like trying to balance a bag jelly on the cross bar, so she was left in the forest until I made it home and fetched the car. She has firmed up nicely.
  8. Marsie has grown into a huge lab at 7 months old Although I am in the Congo I get the updates from my wife. Marsie wakes Kath at 5am by walking all over her. And then its game time until the dogs tongue is dragging in the grass.
  9. I use the magnets from the earphones they dish out on aircraft. They are about 7-8mm dia and fit nicely into the pedal axel hole in the crank. A bit of Pratley glue fixes then in place.
  10. I always have and still do . . .
  11. It would appear so , if you exceed the height you will be billed as a truck, and according to the OP, if you have an e-tag forever afterwards unless you contact SANRAL and fight it each time you go under the gantries with a bike on top!
  12. Even 70mb per pic the resolution will not be enough to read the disk as the area of the picture is 20m2 of road and the disk 4cm x 5cm . You are left with 7kb of info over the disc . A 7kb file is not enogh to provide the resolution needed to read anything. Try it - reduce a picture to 7kb and see what you have. Urban myth.
  13. I really feel for you guys. You really have to work at it to try and make decent trails. I am sooo spoilt - these are just some of the hundreds of trails, paths, tracks, single tracks through bush, plantation forest, indigenous forest that we in Louis Trichardt have on our doorstep. The make spans west to west 30kmn of our ever changing mountain, with my house marked with a green marker in the middle.
  14. I see it does not include the remote. It may be better to go for the black edition which has the remote and more mounts.
  15. Not such a rip off. The kindle fire is sold by Amazon at about $10.00 less than the cost of making it. This is because the know that throughout its life you are going to buy books and stuff from them. I just use my laptop charger which has two USB charging ports for charging my kindle.
  16. You may be right. The back ground looks like it could well be Lake Kivu, with the bike at Kamembe in Rwanda looking towards Bakavu in the DRC across the lake. The roads around Kamembe have recently been rebuilt and were looking very spiff and clean when I landed at Kamembe on Saturday on my way to Bakavu.
  17. Marsie is only 7 months old but twice swam out to the intake tower with me. I did not ask her to follow - when she saw me in the water she just leapt in . This was the first time she has swam and she did about a total of 250m powerful swimming on her first day in the water. No one took any picture of it unfortunately, so this one has to give the scale of things. .
  18. To celebrate the end of my 7 weeks of treatment we went to a picnic in Thate Vondo Forest. This is at the top of the Huhohohohovu waterfall below the sacred forest lake(its a dam actually) Marsie , TGIP and bubbles.
  19. She is a Champion gardener !
  20. Time for an update picture on Marsie, our rescue pup who waylaid me when I was on the bike in Roodewal forest on 26th July. The first picture was taken on that evening when we got her home, still in the car, and the second to-day almost 5 months later . The happy face is obvious in the second picture.
  21. I am working in the DRC so I get reminded every day when I am there that in the lottery of life, that for me and everyone I know, the wheels of fortune came up all sevens.
  22. The drive side will probaly only need a sharp tap on the off side shaft with a plastic mallet.
  23. No. You will still pay the VAT on 110% of the value and the admin fee
  24. 15.4% + R30 for bike components
