  1. Strider puts on pretty awesome events at the BMX meets for the toddlers, seen a lot of those kids transition to big bikes really easily after riding those things for a while.
  2. So I can qualify by gambling R60k on not winning a lottery entry, buying an overpriced Snacker bar then posting a picture and adding "I somehow managed to ride up this hill without using any @USN_Purefit #USNEPIC" and I'm basically in the running?
  3. Nothing wrong with them sponsoring the event as far as I'm concerned, glad they're putting money into the sport and sport in general. The criticism is kinda funny though because they brought it upon themselves by trying to sue that guy.
  4. WE'VE ADDED A FREE OXYGEN MOLECULE FOR EVERY TWO HYDROGEN ONES!
  5. Thanks, Nick. SP1 on sale at the moment looks like a good option.
  6. Which light would you guys recommend for pre-dawn road rides? I'm assuming I don't need a hell of a lot of lumens as it's mostly for visibility and the few areas where there aren't bright street lights and I guess more light comes with more weight.
  7. With running shoes… confusing times.
  8. Judging by the picture it seems they recommend a downhill bike
  9. I'm not big on weight exercises (or body weight exercises other than press ups), I'm just really lazy about it. Are hill repeats and high intensity interval days an adequate replacement?
  10. Fair point, perhaps Stretch meant 300km-400km months. Nice points about the cycling, I'm hoping to do a few duathlons later in the year anyway so there's incentive for me to stick at it. Number 3 is where I may fall short, never been too good at stretching after a run.
  11. Thanks man, that's encouraging. 300km weeks though ????
  12. I'd like to do Comrades 2016 but not sure I have the miles under my belt. I've always said that if I do it I'd like to go for a Bill Rowan (so kudos to you sub-niners!). If I'm doing 40km a week now, can I build up in time for 2016 to manage a steady sub-nine?
  13. Best looking sports watch out there. With optical HRMs improving every year I think I'm going to wait until a high end model has one integrated in the strap. It apparently works really well in the FR225, which seems to be Garmin's way of testing it on the market. Hopefully it makes its way up the chain to the FR620 series and maybe even the Fenix eventually. When that day comes I'll sell a kidney.
  14. I buy directly from their SA store, you can often get a damn good deal from end of season shoes. I picked up a pair for myself and my girl for around R450 each last time (fortunately she's a size 5 so there are often deals on her sizes). I used to run exclusively with Nikes but I like the feel of the Inov-8s and they hold up well. Over 700km on the current pair and not feeling the degrading cushioning that I used to get with the old Just Do Its. They're not the most aesthetic shoes, a lot of my friends prefer Nikes and Asics for the looks but they feel great and their whole progression towards minimalism is pretty handy if that's what you're after. Personally I'm happy with the 6mm h2t drop and don't feel any need to reduce further.
  15. This thread… I can't believe nobody's been called Hitler yet.
  16. Well done to Tiaan but huge respect to Fourie, she's getting quicker and quicker each season
  17. I don't know much about the Giant SL, any good?
  18. I think the pricing is about R500 off. At R1500 it would be a no-brainer but at R2k for a rather rudimentary setup I'd start considering biting the bullet hard and investing in a KS rather.
  19. One of those good days when you're the last people at the track
  20. Proof that you don't have to have high end equipment and editing software if you know how to compose a story with a camera.
  21. It's a nice sentiment and would alleviate a lot of problems but it's totally unenforceable.
  22. Awesome news and I dig the kit. Can someone explain to a total road novice what our chances are of featuring in any way? Could the guys punch above their weight like Team Shosholoza did or try take a stage or is it more about exposure for the 60% guys.
  23. This is fantastic news! If there's any rugby on that weekend we won't have to listen to Joel Stransky's commentating.
