  1. Sorry, this is just pathetic. They have lost my respect. Normal 'admin fee' was in the order of R150. Per team change. Asking R620 per rider smacks of trying to profit from the situation. Dryland did it properly when they had to cancel Tankwa. I know which outfit I will support going forward
  2. I can also vouch for friendly service from Julien and his team.
  3. I though it was only me
  4. I rode both SCT and 99er in %. The white line issue was MUCH better in 99er,and I firmly believe it's all due to the quality of the marshalls. It was day and night. Yes, a few guys tried their luck, but was immediately put back on the right side of the road, with some reprimanding to go with it. The result was that people was less keen to take a chance, and if they did made sure they got back in line asap. There were a few places where this slowed things down a bit, but nothing major. The Marshall also did an excellent job in getting cars past the bunches, again a marked difference to SCT. I felt much safer in 99er. They relaxed the "discipline" a bit on the old Malmesbury road, but I think they made good judgement calls there ito the amount of traffic vs visibility down the road vs allowing cyclists a bit of leeway. Thumbs up from my side.
  5. I picked up someone's racetec chip on the robot c/o Durban Road and Tindale. I'll be handing in at lost and found a bit later. RT139199
  6. That was my biggest gripe today - no issues with getting riders back where they belong, but do it in a safe, professional way. Stopping your car across the road in front of a bunch speeding at 45km/h+ (twice!) is asking for an f-up. At Derbie Dash the riders were MUCH further into the oncoming traffic, but the bike marshalls there did a excellent job of getting the guys in line firmly, but without risk. I'll be writing to the cycletour trust on this. The venue itself is not that bad imho - if they can sort out the traffic / parking (maybe safe satellite parking areas from which you can cycle in), and better communication w.r.t the "neutral zone" at the start, I think the new route works well with Helshoogte right there where it matters
