Can the current record holder hold 320-340W (> 5w/kg) at 150bpm for 5+ hours, which is apparently Tadej's Z2? Pogacar is a freak, and that's an end of it.
Tadej proved, again, that this season he has no equal. The race result is a fitting summary to his dominance and the culmination of what I would certainly deem to be a generation-defining season.
Long may he reign.
10 years for me, which pretty much coincides with when I decided to make cycling part my life a bit more seriously. The website has changed somewhat, but also not that much, which makes it comforting.
I just wish people would start selling their bikes for bargains again...
I cannot comment on the safety of the roads, but a few years ago we took part in the rebel L'etape du Tour in the KZN Midlands (they cancelled the event, but with everything booked and paid for, we did it anyway at race-ish pace). I sure as heck didn't expect her to win. I guess I just expected her to do better than 45th. I think she was just over 10 minutes off the "Dutch" winner, which is about 7% slower. Perhaps ultra does not translate to the marathon distance, but there seems to be a case for track athletes doing well in the marathon.
