  1. Also, it might be tempting but don't run your pressures too low in the pursuit of ‘grip’. It took me a ride or three to get used to running slightly harder pressures after also being told too lol, but your tyre pressures shouldn't be the bandaid for shitty suspension setup. I’ve learnt this from some pretty fast guys over the past few months. Guys half my size running 28/30psi and right at the top of the leaderboards down those trails. Most people actually run their tyres too soft for the type of riding they do. Yes casings matter, but you cant run 23psi and smash down rocks at 120kg as an example. Go look at where greg minaar ran his pressures this past weekend, as a 85kg ish rider. It’s an eye opener (26-30psi). im not saying you’ll need to run 40psi, but you cant run the same pressures as 70kg riders and not expect to fold a rim over a rock when it goes wrong. Also, invest in a digital pressure gauge if you don't have one already. Another eye opener. My floor pump is out by 5-7psi lol.
  2. This aged well👀
  3. Did it on a rigid mtb before. Didnt die. Best bike for this will be a short-ish travel hardtail on fast rubber in my opinion. Maybe gooi 34 or 36 chainring for more speed if you care. If i did it again thats what i would do. Purely because that would enable you to smash the downhill sections relatively fast too. But i would also not be too worried about doing it on my gravel bike. Or be a clown and do it on an enduro bike haha. Pass people on the downhill sections at mach4 (and walk the rest😊)
  4. I would think Aramax global shopper would be easiest. They’ll send it to the US adress and it will get forwarded. Biggest hurdle with AMS will be to get s private seller to do some sort of invoice for you.
  5. Couldn’t sleep hey?😅 (happens to me too sometimes😊)
  6. It is! But you’ll notice that the branch is not there anymore. His bike above his head resembles where it used to be though! context @Me rida my bicycle: There used to be a low hanging branch over that bridge which meant people my height had to do a proper squat to get under it. My first ever time going down there at speed, i obviously didn't know about it and it knocked my clean of my bike🤣 Also one of my favs there.
  7. In that case….merlin is so mainstream 👀 i know things….
  8. Reminded me of this:
  9. Carrying your bike would for sure…
  10. Well you now know how fast is too fast into that berm = progression 😅, heal up fast!
  11. Where? How? Hope you were trying something really dumb😅. Only way to progress right?
  12. jebus….don't want to sound too insensitive given recent events….but perhaps everybody should give everyone a wide berth while this bad juju wares off… f@k ouens… Inconsiderate drivers: look in your mirrors before opening a door. Absent minded cyclists: expect every door to open without warning. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  13. Sram is recent. Used to buy all my stuff from them. Touch wood, shimano still good to go on there. Also, stop advertising !!! Need to keep these last gems secret😅
  14. Also consider most of your riding happens on the road though? That makes a huge difference in how long stuff lasts. The XX1 chain on my gravel/roady lasts dubble otr even tripple the amount of km than same one on my enduro bike for instance. In normal dirty offroad conditions an e-bike will eat through cassettes and chains way faster than a normal bike would. Way more torque through the system. Climb a 1000m and then smash some descents in the dirt every ride and there will be a marked difference in longevity for sure. No chance a 25kg bike wears a suspension, bearings, drivetrains at a similar pace to an Amish bike unfortunately. ps: this is as communicated from people we ride with. “Ebikes are great, but continuous fun comes at a price…payable by visa” lol
  15. I do everything on my bikes myself, except suspension. Fair enough, a lower and fresh oil is pretty easy to DIY, and as @droo said, most manuals show the procedure, but i kind of feel that if you pay R20k+ for a fork, let an expert pamper it every now and then. They also see things that you might not. Small price to pay to keep a quite steep investment running in perfect condition.
  16. Don't forget about all the Dentist jokes you’ll have to deal with… (PS: for the record, i too lust for a v5 tallboy in XXL lol, numbers just all look right when you are vertically blessed)
  17. Really want one of those Fidlock jobbies. But ive never lost a bottle even on an enduro bike using the Lyne cages with cameback bottles.
  18. Thats just his phone using AI to mimic what he actually sees😅
  19. Hope you benefit too at least - some towrope action. I made a pact with @BikeGenie, im not allowed to get an ebike at an age younger than he is when he gets one. He’s still riding analog at 50 ish…so im screwed for at least 10 more years
  20. Riding too much manicured tygerberg flow lately😅? Did armageddon from 6 as well as full red phoenix. I think they are running pretty good currently. I think we have defo ridden them in a worst state over the years. Red phoenix has had some work done recently too i think. Especially at the top. My nemesis tree has also been removed/trimmed. Didn't do DH, i rarely do when i go there. It’s ok i guess, but i prefer the other things on offer. Can think it looks rough though. It only really gets love when WC DH is in town.
  21. Clowns. Signed.
  22. What about bikes that make you realise your other bikes were a waste of money (if you are honest with yourself)? 🤣 Look, it hurts shredding the gnar on it but every time i ride my Banshee Paradox i have buyers remorse for every single other bike i own. It just handles so well. I wish i could replicate the way it feels on the trails. I’m slowly starting to realise that i want a 140mm downcountry bike. Hardtails are just good.
