    The FOMO is becoming real now. Will be the first time in 10 years i’m not doing it😒 PS: I hope its the worst day ever.

    A trick i picked up from a Santa Cruz Syndicate post on another platform: sintered brake pads are a bit more of a mission to bed in as you know. They take about double the amount of time than organics. Plus, if you screw it up…they WILL sound like sram brakes all the time - squealy piggies. So, get a bowl of water, take the pads out the package. Probably wear some latex gloves. Take the two pads, dip them in the water and rub them together like two coins between you fingers in a circular motion. I guess you can use both hand if you want. You’ll see the water going black as the releasing agent gets pulled and removed from the pad material’s surface. Rinse repeat until the water on the pads runs clear. Thats when they are clean. It takes all of about 3min. You aren't applying any real pressure other than needed to keep them together between your fingers. Use either brand new rotors or resurface your current ones by deep cleaning and scuffing up with 150 grit sand paper. You aren't sanding…just keying! Braking compounds don't mix and need new material on there that matches the pad…otherwise the performance will always suck. Using this process the pads bed in super quick and they are noise free.

    Sounds like you have a dud too. You guys are going to make me make a video of it arent you?😅 Mine seats and inflates a 2.5 mtb tyre halfway on a charge. 2 x charges gets you up to 30psi no issue.

    no jokes....it has only happened to me once but one lonely night before an event i was busy changing tyres and in the process of inflating the tyre (with my old floor pump and its wonky gauge) to seat the bead...got to what i thought was 40 psi. Thought to myself, i'll let it sit tonight and just adjust pressure with the digital gauge in the morning. Later in bed...woke up to the sound of a 'gunshot' - Tyre popped off rim 😆. Sealant everywhere.

    yea all good, but good luck seating a tyre with your compressor out in the bush or late at night when everyone is sleeping? i jsut throw my pump in the car when i go on trips 😄 I used to own a 100L compressor....and got rid of it purely in consideration of how noisy the thing was for the people around me. I work on my stuff at night or in the early hours of the morning. So just didnt make sense as i 'couldn't' use it anyway. The smaller ones are even worse because they are ALWAYS busy topping up. Yes i'm the guy who frowns at you for starting up you generator for a mere 2h loadshedding window. I wonder how many people know that once you get a noise complaint submitted to counsil for operating a generator...it's not as simple anymore as just opening your garage and switching the thing on....it involves spending money on noise dampening, measuring dB levels etc etc. The airtank 2.0 is as good a floor pump as you can buy. I got mine for R1300 ish using some google foo and haggling skills at CWC.

    I can get mine to 240…my wife cant. Make of that what you must 😅 i almost always use it in air tank mode because its so much faster to fully inflate a tyre. Sounds like yours is defective or has a leak. Does it work as a normal pump? But yea, just go swop it dor a new one.

    Go exchange it? It’s brand new. If you tinker with it you’re screwed. Mine has been one of the best bike related purchases i’ve made in 2024. I change tyres often. It’s a no brainer for tubeless if you don't own a compressor.

    Once bought a SIM in dubai since i was going to spend 6 weeks there…. Same thing, recycled number and a Pakistani family frantically trying to get hold of the previous owner of the number. It got so bad that i ended up chucking it and roaming instead. on a related note and targeted marketing calls: try this. https://dmasa.org Mine have significantly decreased since i registered my number here. Some still slip through, but i just manually block anything and everything as far as i can.

    I think hoogekraal does group shop rides in the mornings. Not sure of frequency or skill levels. Maybe go ride Conties over a weekend, end at Starke’s/dairy shed and make some new friends? Or even on the trail. They are busy enough. Plenty of groups/people who are lekker.

    Only emotional ones🤪… in seriousness though, judging by how rehab is going…it will be a few months before i can get on a bike again. i thought it was obvious that I have more time to be praating more k@k on here recently? It’s the FOMO you see… Using my own track record, periods of non riding due to injury goes like this: 1. increased forum activity to compensate for the lack of bicycle related social interaction. 2. building / buying a new bike / bike stuff because i have too much time to justify N+1 in my head. im trying really hard not to buy more bike stuff this time. I already failed to some extent, but buying niche, expensive, bike specific tools mean i can tell myself i’ll save money in 10 years time by not having to take it to a LBS. But no, I also enjoy working on my bikes…so I see it as an investment in myself. see how I justified it? Im sn expert👀

    On the topic of pseudonym's and handles… I don’t feel I have to hide. I know i’m not unique in doing it either, but this up here is my actual name and i’m comfortable using it as a handle. I also use my avatar across all platforms. It keeps me true to myself and means I take responsibility for everything I say on here. Hiding and keyboard warrior’ing behind a pseudonym is easy! This is me…hiding in plain sight! 😅🥸

    Those are normal semi integrated headset bearings you find on plenty of bikes. Any bikeshop worth visiting should be carrying stock of those, including a range of others. Pedal bearings might be a different story depending on size and model, or whether they take IGUS bushings (which most flats do - assumption) But even then, a reputable shop will know where to get from a local bearing supplier if they don't carry them.

    No issue with them either. But one can argue that if this all didn't grow from a forum with its community and earned the trust you mentioned, it could possibly have been nothing more than another gumtree or junkmail. The rapport and trust came before the trade…and yes, because classifieds has been established for more than a decade now, the forums seem secondary, especially to ‘day traders’ But as per the lore linked above, let’s not forget where it all came from! i’m just here to praating k@k and sell some stuff to fellow forum peasants every now and then. I have a real job😅

What makes it worse is, these days you don't even have to write your own adverts…you just ask an AI to do it.     Sure, i get this. But then don’t lie or play at heart strings to get someone to give you a discount then. Most good people will probably meet you somewhere in the middle if you ask nicely. By exploiting this and selling it the very next day for profit means people in general will avoid helping someone out who might have actually needed the fav. Have some decency and wait n week at least😅.

    Some people eventually come to the realisation that they are asking too much and start dropping asking price. I’ve watched items fall by ~40% eventually before they sell. On the other hand there are a few hubbers with items that have been on here for literally 12 months+ at exactly the same price. i thought 12 months ago you were asking too much. Now it’s not only a year older, I still think you are asking too much, AND now I also think it is worth less than what I thought a year ago😅

    This! Some of our esteemed ‘k@kpraating’ specialists always willing to offer advice includes the likes of Stoke, Titan, Evo, Wheelbuilder and a few others as well. I’d go so far as to say they build rapport in the forums doing this and that reinforces their business reputations for sure.
