  1. Plenty of mtbers have big lovin for the newish shimano brakes. You'll have to qualify your disgust with a version /year model.
  2. https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/20965883-Elevation-for-Your-Activity
  3. What an excessive use of force. Pity about the attack being labeled cyclists vs motorists. A box is a box, regardless of whether they ride a bicycle or drive a car, but it's human nature to try and classify behaviour under an identifying characteristic. I would not have reacted in the same way, even if it was 10 water bompies.
  4. Can I burn my ppa road number now that this race is over.
  5. I struggled with giant rims and nobbies. Soapy water, garage compressor, took about 10 mins of swearing. Helps to have another set of hands to massage the tyre and try and get the bead towards the edge of the rim while inflating.
  6. The one in the centre? Probably seat tube.
  7. Can always push harder... until you can't. I like Noakes' central governer concept in that aspect.
  8. Why introduce subjectivity in the PS... I don't trust what my body tells me. Shut up legs!
  9. Use the 2x20 min max effort test, avg of 2nd effort is lthr. Work your zones out from there. How much riding you do a week will determine how much time you spend in different zones. Less time = more hard.
  10. A bit off topic and technical but something I've been playing with lately is W' expenditure in a beta release of golden cheetah. Using an extended CP 3,5,15,60 min efforts etc) it guesses CP and W' in kj. CP is somewhat synonymous with FTP and I use it for TSS, and pacing above threshold. W' expenditure is efforts above threshold. Anyway, my max W' expenditure in a race on Sunday was 109‰,and I bonked at 50km. Was interesting to see that correlation, and it gives me an objective idea of how many "matches" I have.
  11. Upload your rides from strava to veloviewer.com, they have a chart called wheel which shows a map of activities.
  12. Grips well, wears quickly, fine for tubeless if the snakeskin tubeless ready version.
  13. My seeding used the 2014 99er as well, in addition to PPA funrides _not_ listed as seeding events. They don't officially declare this on their website but it was included in the seeding mail sent out earlier this week. Recent events having a higher ranking ito seeding is a better indication of current ability than a ride a year ago. And the organisers expanding seeding to include a wider sample of race results is a good thing. Hopefully there will be less merging between the bunches because seeding is more accurate.
  14. More details please, pm if necessary, live in goodwood as well and need to be vigilant!

  17. I rode it on my carbons while JRA last year, it's ok.
  18. I'm in $, shouldn't be there, but relish the opportunity to make a mess. If I can hang on...
  19. Side effect of this is you become stronger hence faster... No bailout gear is no bailout.
  20. It's my daughter's birthday on the 18th, can I vote by email, or some other way besides being at the AGM?
  21. Used to be after 120km...
  22. Timelapse of my ride from A-C, moviemaking device ran out of stored electricity just outside of Simons Town. Anyone interested in any of the stills (12mp) can pm me.
  23. As mentioned somewhere else, 'coaster has a lack of sponsorship, so entries are higher. Add Bay + coaster entries together, divide by 2 and it's a smaller amount. For one of them, at least.
  24. True, better get there early.
  25. Enter on the day. Pen and paper.
