    Rapha Festive 500

87km to go after this mornings ride, which will also take me to 16000km for the year. 2020 has been my best year on the bike, my riding has improved big time after L5 lockdown and I got my weight down to the lowest in about 16 years. Festive 500 also helps to keep the weight in check and burn of those festive calories.
  2. The heat is killing us in Durban, I've been starting at 4:30 to 5am for a while now so 6 is quite late and by 7 its already too hot. I'll stay in my pain cave with the AC for a while until things change again. Riding with a buff in 35deg isn't going to be fun.
  3. Dbn promenade sunrise, then onto the messy Durtbin roads with 2 punctures and had to call it a day after 50km.
  4. Lake shoes in standard fit are wide, and the wide fits are REALLY Wide, so be sure to try them on. I use shimano wide fit, and lake std fit and the lakes have more room than the shimano. I have the Shimano RC901 and Lake CX237, for me the overall fit and quality of the Shimano is better. Giro and Sidi are too narrow.
  5. Prices of pies are crazy these days... rather save that $$ for coffee or beer
  6. Banana and coffee for breakfast... no time to make oats at 4am. Candence carbofuel in the bottles. Cadence bars during rides. 32gi gels for emergency. This worked for a 130km ride yesterday. Protein powder, banana and berry smoothie post ride.
  7. From wet roads to a high of 33deg, this ended up being one of my better rides in a long time.
  8. I let the machine warm up for 10 minutes or so, place the cups on the top to stay warm and leave the portafilter in to also warm up.
  9. haha yeah also took me quite a while to get it sorted. into my 3rd week now and have much better tasting coffee
  10. I am on my second duster, first one gave me 6 years of hassle free driving, and last year I got the latest top spec Duster. at the time, for R330k nothing else came close to it. All the features you need, comfy on a long drive and super economical. Old Renaults were crap, the newer cars are really not bad and good value for money which is what many look for these days.
  11. just back off on the duration if you feel its going to hurt the legs. a 30-45 min session should be fine.
  12. I wouldnt go 4 days without riding, you may end up with stale legs. Do some short n sharp rides on the road or IDT on maybe 2 of the 4 days. Then stretching, foam rolling etc.
  13. Having this happen after a few days of rest, and then just 5km into a ride makes me think that's its more than just electrolytes, or bike fit or recovery. Get to a doc.
  14. Some good weather yesterday in Durbz after alot of rain, looking down Fields Hill just before sunrise.
  15. Follow it as you need the easy days for recovery. If you go to deep on the easy days, you may not be able to go hard on the hard days. You dont want to burn out.
