  1. The Zwift runs are not bad at all, you can also select different routes etc. They also have group runs but have never done any. You will need a Run Pod if you want to use Zwift. The IDT will be a better option, Zwift Cycling races and events are alot more fun. If you not keen on spending 18-20k on something, look at the Wahoo Snap or Saris M2. both will do the job. Just get a second hand wheel and trainer tyre. This will be cheaper vs having to go the direct drive route.
  2. Entry done. Just hope everything goes ahead as planned.
  3. I am thinking of making a trip to Jozi for 1 of these... Have never done Satellite but heard stories about Hekpoort... Joburg Classic is familiar roads so might go down better. Decisions decisions. I sent a mail to organizers for Joburg Classic and they say its all systems go for now.
  4. Finally, took long enough
  5. to the OP, have you tried MTB ? Maybe that will serve you better, rent a bike and go enjoy some offroad scenery. There's definitely alot more to see in the bush.
  6. if you dont ride to be out and enjoy whatever the views are, then dont invest in this. You will be in for R50-70k if you want a good IDT + average bike & kit. If you want to ride just to stay fit, keep the gym membership going and do a few sessions on the watt bike. Or buy yourself a cheap spin bike and train at home, much cheaper. To add, you should have never sold your bikes and everything else... Cycling stays in your blood !
  7. No doubt there, they have done a good job in ripping off people.
  8. I have one of these NZ bikes, the C2 Tere. they are cool and stand out, not many in SA yet. I know a few being built in Jozi and will be on the roads soon.
  9. Thats just the thing, these Spez bikes being launched are just for a select market... or maybe not. Its crazy how many of these high end bikes are out there. But For many of us its just about being "smarter" with our money and building something to similar spec at a fraction of what these "Superbikes" costs.
  10. For much less, you can build this [which looks pretty much the same] with top spec lightweight carbon goodies, and get it well below 6kg. https://www.chapter2bikes.com/range/huru/matt-orange Frame - R60k landed Gruppo - Sram Red 22 still about the lightest - R30k Wheels / Bars / stem / saddle and few extra's - R60k R50k in your pocket for another build
  11. you would get it for xmas maybe
  12. Guessing you "might" run into some problems depending on what type of sealant you use if you had to use extenders. The extenders have like a 1-2mm hole.
  13. they are taking lockdown into account... some folk may have grown
  14. I have the card and everything else..., so this looks good. some extra miles for not changing anything, cant complain with that.
  15. I have had 2 shipments from CRC with Skynet in the past 2 months and both were cleared and delivered in about 5 days. Yes they are much slower than DHL and UPS but its not that bad. If the shipment is stopped then it can take much longer.
  16. I know I said buying new is better... but at R35k this looks like a good deal. With the 15k you can get some carbon hoops and you sorted.
  17. "most" surgeons will say lets cut you open... i mean they need to make a living. Do the exercises and strengthen your core, it will take some time but you will eventually get there. Remember daily stretching and recovery work after rides will also aid in reducing pain. Also go see a Chiro and get another opinion from them. They may be able to help with some adjustments. Can become costly but may be worth it. I will spend some time on these first, and if it doesnt work in reducing the pain then you will have to get the surgery done.
  18. I see there's no stock, but this is also a great bike at 50k https://eastcitycycles.com/products/cannondale-super6-evo-ultegra-barbeque?variant=33498551681155
  19. @ 50K budget, there's really no need to buy second hand. Get that shiny new bike you want... The Titan shared above is great value for money. You can get a TCR also but you will have heavy alloy wheels with it.
  20. This works, or just deselect the controllable trainer and basically do a free ride. I have just started doing workouts on TrainerRoad again and run Zwift as above, and select some hilly routes to clock up the elevation. I am using a new Elite Direto X and havent had any overheating issues yet. But about to fit an aircon in the paincave for summer so I hope it will be fine as the hours increase.
  21. 58cm should be fine, but best to try out a test bike if possible. 56 might work with either a longer stem or higher seatpost, depends where your length comes from, longer legs or reach...
  22. my Anatomic Platinum bibs that I bought in 2017 has been an issue, pad too far forward and creeps up and moves around when you stand up. That was really a wasted R1k or so.
  23. probably on the standard narrow saddle. For 3km ride, this should work. https://www.rydercycling.co.za/ryder-products/saddles/swift-2-0-saddle-324-detail
  24. the Tempus TT's also work very well for FTP as the gradients are alot more consistent when compared to the crit routes. for some of us average riders the TT course takes +/- 22-26 minutes so its ideal.
  25. Thanks gents. Will try to hook up with a group if not will be a solo ride. I do know the cradle routes and climbs, done it a few times a few years back.
