  1. It is a centerlock hub. Specifically 28h, straightpull, 350 MTB hub set.
  2. Hi Marc Quick question, can i use a shimano locking ring on DT centerlock 350 MTB hubs? Thanks.
  3. If you paint by then yellow they will look like minions
  4. Sissy, I hit 93 on Doreen once :-) That hill is a bugger, haven’t ridden it in over 25 years but when I was a laaitie I used to ride it plenty. How I got up there with a 42-23 easiest gear I dunno, I suppose weighing 40 something kilos helped.
  5. Meet Mbuzi, Epic Evo Comp. Wheels upgraded, DT 350 hubs with DT XR391 rims, grips replace with Esi grips, Conceal tool added and XT pedals moved over from my old steed. Put an Ikon on the back and an Ardent race on the front (both 2.35 and Exo) because the Control casing stock tires that came with it don’t last a second with the razor sharp quartz here in the magaliesberg. Will add a Mountain Bandit tomorrow, saddle bad and dropper are not friends. Swapped out the Power saddle for a Phenom, my ass’ favorite. Now I just gotta ride her, been friggin ill since last week so couldn’t ride this past weekend, there was a lot of forlorn staring going on.
  6. Ah ha, thanks man. In this day and age....
  7. Okay so maybe I am an idiot, and I know this has been asked before but can’t find the relevant posts, but how do I post a pic from my phone?
  8. So I got my bike! Comes with the EMT cage mount tool mounted to the bottle cage (yes, one bottle cage included). Now I just gotta get her set up.
  9. I will do, picking her up this afternoon after work. Really nice bike, only the wheels that suck a bit. Managed to get a set of brand new DT 350 hubs off of Benky at a good price, and got Nick the wheelbuilder to lace them to DT XR391 rims, wheels will hopefully arrive Friday. So now it is just a case of degreasing the chain, putting on esi grips and setting her up. I think I should take Friday off to spend some quality time with my new girlfriend (don’t tell my wife).
  10. I did, but seeing as mine is the first one they have received they don’t really know. They are a spec dealer but not full concept store so not always as clued up as they should be. Also, I am naturally suspicious so I like to have independent information when talking to the bike shop so they don’t try and bulls$&t me.
  11. My Evo Comp arrives tomorrow, woo hoo. I have a question about the steerer mounted tool. Is this the full shebang Conceal tool with chain breaker or is it just the multi tool? A bit vague on the details on website as well as reviews. Would be a bit silly if it was just the multi tool.
  12. So I am trying to buy an Epic Evo Comp at the moment, seems there are none in the country (or at least in Gauteng). I wonder how the concept stores, who cannot offset lack of availability by selling other bike brands, survive when they cannot get stock.
  13. When I read this it was as if I wrote it, I have the same philosophy as you. I have relatively young kids, 4 and 8 years old. Sometimes after a long ride I need to take the 8 year old for a ride in the reserve close to us, or play cricket, all that jazz. I can’t skimp on this, not because my wife will get angry, but because being a bit tired is no excuse. I also limit big events that require a large amount of training to max one a year, and I don’t do long stage races. I don’t like being away from the family for long. But hey I get to ride every Saturday and Sunday, so I consider myself to be lucky and I don’t want to wreck a good situation.
  14. . The arms are different lengths? Man now that I have never seen.
  15. Shoo great race

I must say I take my hat off to those of you who have committed and are prepping for this. I was supposed to ride my first 36One this year, which has been postponed to November. I have decided not to do it, don’t see myself doing all that prep again with the uncertainty around it.
  17. I knew Basil Cohen in the 90s when I was a laaitie. He had a bike shop/general trading shop in Venterspost near Randfontein/Westonarea.The place was like a treasure trove of bike stuff. He used to sponsor a lot of the mine workers to ride on the track in Westonarea and Wes-Drie. I was a cash strapped laaitie and he always gave me a good deal on bike stuff. Only years after that did I learn he was a legend of SA cycling. We used to have Wes-Tranvaal track meets at Wes-Drie track. I’m my age group we would race for second (or in my place second last) behind JP van Zyl. I can still smell that shop. Rubber, tubby glue and stale beer outside (there were literally prossies sitting on beer crates outside the shop, pomp and beer combo deal).
  18. I like this. 110/120mm travel, two bottles, threaded bb, no brain. Finally a decent replacement for the Camber. But where is the alloy version?
  19. I think I have a bit of a crush on Lachlan. Someone should convince him to do the Munga as part of his adventurism.

I wonder what it will be, I hope the director is imaginative. Rock, paper scissors? Jelly wrestling? Most skid marked chamois? Hairiest legs? The options are endless.
  21. Fortunately my wife loves red, if I ever buy something I shouldn’t I buy it in red, then her first reaction is “oh it’s so pretty”, not “how much did that cost”
  22. I drooled over the Hope crankset for a long time, then found one cheap cheap on a cwc sale, seems they had one that nobody wanted to buy. Bit of a pain to install and remove but otherwise it is fantastic.
  23. My dream bike, ticks all the boxes. 120mm travel, threaded bb, 2 bottles, boost, and no shock lockout. Only problem is gonna be price....
  24. Eish this is evil as it is tempting, I was signed up for my first 36One. But 361km on the trainer, riding the pretzel, that sounds nasty. I can only imagine what that radio antennae climb feels like on lap 5. Do us okes living at altitude get to lower our weight by a few kgs? :-) Seriously though, good luck to everyone who takes part, and I hope you are successful in your fund raising.
  25. The other day I was walking past the cupboard and I saw a little bag of sweets that were my 3 year olds. Somehow they just fell into my mouth and tummy and can you believe it the three year old didn’t believe me.
