  1. Thanks Marc, thought as much but it is good to have confirmation
  2. Hi Marc I have a set of 350 hubs with a microspline free hub. The other day I noticed that when the wheel is removed there is axial play on the free hub. Once the wheel is clamped in place this stops as the end cap is pushed tight. Is this normal? Thanks.
  3. This is very anecdotal, but i have found that bb's for 24mm spindles last longer than bb's for 30mm spindles.
  4. so i bought both a short sleeve and long sleeve base layer from Core Merino. Big shout out to them, i got my size selection wrong and the service from them was excellent, replacement arrived a few days later and all i needed to do was return the garment to the same courier, no extra cost. Cant comment on longevity but i have already used the sleeveless baselayer multiple times and it is really nice. Just watch the sizing, especially if you are used to European cycling clothes sizing. As an example, the long sleeve i bought from them was medium and had to be returned for a small. I have a Rapha merino base layer that is a large and it is exactly the same size as the Core Merino small.
  5. eish sorry man
  6. I am so friggin uber paranoid about getting sick at the moment, whether it be covid, flu or a cold. All the hard work is basically done now (twice, having trained for last years cancelled event). Just being on the start line will be a victory for me.
  7. Sheesh this thread is maar quiet, previous years there was much more anticipation/excitement. This is my first (after last years cancellation) so i am dik excited. My wife is so tired about hearing about 36One......

  9. So some feedback. Been using those crazy expensive insoles for a month now. First tried them on 1.5 hr rides on trainer, then that weekend did a 5 hour ride. I started feeling the onset of hot foot, but it never developed into the debilitating pain. Fast forward a few weeks and the regime of sporadic icing and new insoles is paying dividends. Rode for 6.5hrs on Saturday and not a sniff. What a relief, it is amazing how much nicer it is to ride without it feeling like my foot is being stabbed by an assegai.
  10. Thanks for the feedback. Watched a few videos, most have the mech removed or else the cable disconnected. This makes it a more tedious job, reckon I will try with the cable connected. Regarding your greasing question. Those roller bearings are so small, they probably more suited to oil than grease. They may be concerned that any grease residue will make those little bearings sticky.
  11. I am pretty groupset agnostic, ridden shimano, SRAM and campag and have been happy with all of them. The fact that the shimano RD clutch needs maintenance pisses me off. I mean if you can make it maintenance free (read SRAM) surely that is better? I choose no maintenance over adjustability any day of the week. Anyway I had a good cry and got over it and have a few questions regarding the clutch service from those in the know, as i currently run SLX 12 speed. 1) What grease do you use? 2) Can the service be done without releasing the gear cable? Thanks

  13. Looks like a lovely day in NL
  14. Let’s see what Ashleigh can do on the cauberg
  15. Do stroopwafels count as doping? They should, I am guilty.
  16. Hopefully this time next month I won’t still be riding, but who knows. Yeah I am not too worried about the battery life, I also found I rode mostly in low and they last for ages, just gonna have a spare in case. Mostly worried about light failure. I think I will keep a spare light I have in box 2 just in case. Headlamp should get me there.
  17. To the experienced guys, what is the best tactic regarding a spare light? I plan to keep a spare battery in box 2 just in case. Other than that am thinking of the headlamp as back-up and for lighting off the bike. Thoughts on this strategy? My main light is the ubiquitous Extreme Light Endurance light, and I have a 6800 mAh and 5000 mAh batteries.
  18. He has now gotten into the mind of Jasper.
  19. When he won some Tour de France stages with Dimension Data I thought that was the Indian summer of his career, seems I was wrong. And people are already writing off Sagan at the age of 31....
  20. Fantastic. Man best thing I did recently is sign up to GCN (thanks Supersport). So lekker to be able to watch the race at my leisure.
  21. I am very happy. Look I like this guy, there is no bs with him, he tells it like it is. When he was winning everything this came across as arrogant, but through his subsequent struggles he maintained the same level of honesty.
  22. Well I am arriving with my skelm bars (Farr aero extensions) installed. Will check it with the organisers before hand, won’t be the end of the world if they don’t allow them. In more exciting news, gonna be very dark during the race. New moon is on 11 May, so we will only have a sliver. Moon sets at 19:30 on the 14th, so late at night it is gonna be very dark. Gonna be lekker for stars, hope it isn’t cloudy.
  23. I have used both of the combos you mention. My 2c, the Ikon is better than the Fast Trak on the back, but the Ground Control is better than the Ardent Race on the front. Just make sure you get the Grid casing on the Spez tires.
  24. You gotta love these guys. I bought a Power2Max power meter for my SLX crankset. Now the lockring tool to remove the DM chainring is impossible to find at the moment, so i had to take the crank to my LBS to get the spider installed. Spider on, easy mos, now just fit the chainring. Except I cant find short enough chainring bolts. Thought i was stuffed for the weekend because i dont have time today to take the crank to the LBS to remove the lockring. Ordered some of the XTR bolts and spacers from Rapide yesterday afternoon. Looks like they will be delivered today! If it was not for Wayne i would be doing 5 hours on the trainer tomorrow. My bum thanks you Wayne and team.
  25. As far as I know you can only buy S-Works frame sets from Spez, you are therefore unlikely to get a build done cheaper as the S-Works frame will come in close to the Comp price.
