  1. My cat Dingus once climbed into my boot without me noticing while I was putting my laptop in there on my way to work. When I opened my boot to take my laptop out there she was, surprised the hell out of me.
  2. Everyone is always so mean to Biopace. Meanwhile it was a training device that actually made one stronger by making your gear bigger around the pedal dead spot. Because a 42-23 smallest gear was too easy for us back in the day when gravity was weaker.
  3. I have the same combo, must be a Greek thing… Nice lights, solid with good runtime but only 1h30 at 1000 lumens.
  4. It is harder. The last 80km are very tough, but the hallucinations are awesome. There are easier ways to hallucinate though……
  5. Good luck with the healing, wrists take so long. I go to the ortho today for my last X-ray, fractured my right scaphoid on 2 October! Been off the bike since. Did the double wrist break when I was 16, enough said……
  6. But did they export it?
  7. I reckon it is pretty safe, certainly not dodgy. I ride there often from Rustenburg, have it done it mostly solo and I have never had an issue. There are also always other people riding it, and bikers.
  8. Dammit I was just going to ask if it works for that
  9. Ag will he just stop it. Now I gotta explain to my wife why I am watching the dot of a dude in tight pink clothing. This man crush thing….
  10. This whole Shimano clutch service thing pi$$es me off. I am groupset agnostic, also have an Epic Evo with SLX. Coming off my old SRAM GX 11, never had to touch it. I wish the Shimano clutch never needed servicing too. My SLX clutch is still fine, but I am dik paranoid and wiggle it regularly to check it. Finding Shimano special clutch grease is also not easy at the moment.
  11. What is important is that the rear derailleur and shifters match, the cassettes are compatible. Shimano uses a different pull ratio in their road and mtb drivetrains.
  12. I had a Hansom 653, still looking for that frame, my mom flogged it when I was gallivanting in Europe. My current road bike is a Hansom 708, was my mates, his mom didn’t flog it. I therefore have a real soft spot for old Hansoms. I am still looking for a 53cm, 753 Hansom.
  13. Very nice, what tubing is it?
  14. Did you perhaps hurt the rim tape a bit when changing the tire out? Gotta be either valve or tape. With tape you will notice dust collecting on the spike nipples (on a mtb at least). Personally I hate rim tape. It is my main source of tubeless grief.

    Hot Foot

Again anecdotal, but I find hot foot to be cumulative, at least for me it is. Once set off, it seemed to always be there and set on earlier. For me a really long ride could set it off and from there I was screwed. Sometimes I got it while riding with my laaitie in the street wearing plakkies. With my new shoes I haven’t had it yet, but also haven’t done more than a three hour ride yet so I am still paranoid.

    Hot Foot

I struggle with this too, and had some very counterintuitive effects with shoes. My only advice is this, once you find a shoe that works, never change it. For me those are Fizik shoes. Mine were vrot, couldn’t find any, so I bought a set of specialised shoes as I know I can struggle with hotfoot and all the advice is for wider shoes. I think Satan made that pair. Rode 36One with them, hotfoot started after 2 hours, I rode 24 hours. Afterwards I thought I had leprosy because two of my toes stayed numb for a month. I friggin imported a new pair of Fizik shoes and no issues since.
  17. Great race, Julian was the strongest. They should have the world champs in Belgium every year.
  18. Alrighty then. Took the boy for a morning ride, did the weekly shopping, took out the trash, did two loads of washing. Now the wife took the kids to the movies, and I got my bum bum planted on the couch watching the race. It is gonna be a tough day but I reckon I can do it.
  19. A recent review; https://www.bikeradar.com/reviews/components/brakes/disc-brake-systems/shimano-bl-mt501-mt520-disc-brake-review/ for what it’s worth I have the 4 pot SLX brakes and they have been brilliant. None of that wondering bite point poo I had on my previous XT brakes.
  20. Me and the wife stayed there a few months back, didn’t take the bike though. Look that place is next level mooi.
  21. Good question. All I can say is that I have two merino long sleeve base layers that I bought for cycling, but I wear them all the time when I am at home in the winter. Also, you don’t need to wash them much.
  22. The Core Merino stuff is good. I have a sleeveless vest and a long sleeve base layer and they are really nice. Made on China though……
  23. Same as a Clouseau
  24. This looks exactly like the Avalanche branded pump I have. Bought it about 8 years ago, just recently the presta portion of the chuck failed, been looking for a replacement chuck but they cost more than R150.
  25. I have a very good mate who comes from Trieste, which borders Slovenia and has historically been in and out of Italy. We have a running joke (going on for about 15 years now) where I call him Slovakian.
