  1. This is my Blur I will miss the Silver XT stripes as they match the frame quite nicely I think. Got new pedals to go on and then the wheels and thats it not spending NO more money or doing anything else to it (this project has made me poor )
  2. Good stuff Chris keep clocking up those KM's
  3. Yes CRC price on the spokes was excellent they were on special think I paid just over 200 rand per set I bought the rims a while back when CRC had them on sale only paid 1080 for the 2
  4. Dont know why that double posted Lol yes I am pretty p@ssed off that my tape went missing
  5. caad4 Had the rims for a while and choice of spokes was easy but was undecided on Hubs. It came down to a choice of the Hope pro 2 the Dt swiss 340's and the XTR's (old ones) Hope lost out because of the noise I cant stand the loudness of the freewheel plus they were not centre lock which is a advantage because of my stock of CL discs and 2 other sets of wheels using CL hubs so nice interchangability (is that a word ) XTR's won over the Dt's because of ease of dissassembly without lots of tools and ease of service of bearings plus happened to be on CRC as they listed the new race XTR's so thought why not give them a go. Yes im running mostly XTR with some XT Santa C Worked out at about 2700 for front and rear I think funny thing was the rears were sold out a couple of hours later so dont know if they only got a few sets or if they sold their entire stock in a few hours

  7. RANT 3rd parcel in a row of mine from CRC that has been opened by SARS and the Post office. The other 2 still had everthing present but somebody stole the Stans rim tape out of this one (dont make sense as it was the cheapest item )or maybe they forgot to put it back after inspection RAVE Got my Hubs today so the Blur is a about to get a new set of wheels. JB is doing the wheel build for me. ZTR Crest rims Dt Swiss Revo DB spokes Shimano M985 XTR Race Hubs
  8. With carbon dont take a chance get a torque wrench the first bars or post you damage (hopefully not frame) will far out weigh the price of the wrench. I am less fussy with my alloy frame and components but take great care when tightning onto carbon. Plus if you are OCD like me its nice to know when everything is torqued no worries of did I over or under tighten this or that bolt. I find when checking carbon stuff I have always undertightned it by hand but I think thats the fear factor
  9. I got the BBB a couple of weeks ago from CRC works fine comes in a nice case and with the bits as well pretty good value at about R600 http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=29803
  10. Rock shox 3.3 Monarch Was perfect on Tuesday ride last night zero pressure Pumped it to 195 psi last night on 85 this morning so it lost 110 psi overnight Anyone had this problem if so how to fix or get it fixed quickly as need to ride the 12 hour on Saturday Thanks
  11. Cajee's stock them in Strubens valley just off hendrik potgieter
  12. Hi Just use the sidi size guide you print it out place your foot on it and it will show you what size in sidi you need. Used it in UK to order my Dragons and they are a perfect fit http://www.sidi.com.au/sidi-size-ruler.pdf I must admit they are expensive but the comfort and fit are excellent Also as above go try a pair at a shop but nice thing with this guide is it tells you what size sidi fits your actual foot
  13. Snap except I think I will use the Crests
  14. Are the hope pro 2 hubs the noisy ones with loud ratcheting sound on freewheel? If so can you get or make them quiet would like to use them but dont want that noise
  15. Looks simple would just make sense to me to change the fork oil at the same time. Surely just inverting the bike would allow the oil to drain into a drip tray whilst you are busy with the foam seal. Then pour in correct amount of oil before ass. Is it that simple ? or am I missing something
  16. CRC have monorail LUST on sale @ R287 and the crossmark LUST @ R352 (but out of stock) 640 bucks for a pair pretty good value maybe I will give this combo a try I still save 200g's over the WTB's I can just take a longer piss ...or maybe should buy a new set of wheels to go with them
  17. I put this post in tech q&a earlier when i went to look for replies it was gone I looked on my profile list of posts and it was gone. So I typed another post in q&a now its here in rant and rave.... anyone else ever have this happen with their posts so sorry guys this should be in q&a where the other is
  18. Well I been running the WTB Weirwolf UST's on XT rims with stans since June last year in that time I have never stopped to fix a puncture or anything tyre related whilst racing. Used one plug on a training ride when I landed the rear on a broken bottle.(only time I have seen a stans fountain ) They are really strong!
  19. I was thinking of getting a set of Racing Ralphs CRC have the UST version on sale at 430 rand each Currently using WTB weirwolfs UST which are very solid and punture/damage resistant The WTB's are just about 800g's each the Ralphs only 650g's The sale price plus reducing about 300g's of rotational mass makes it very tempting I was just interested to know from users out there how they found the toughness/punture resistance of the Ralphs to be as the WTB's are pretty bulletproof would like the 300g saving but not at the expense of reliability
  20. I need to order some new tyres Currently running WTB weirwolfs UST close to 800g's CRC have racing ralphs UST on sale for 430 rand @ 650g's Was thinking of trying a set out plus the sale price and added bonus of shedding about 300g's of rotational mass makes it very attractive. Was interested to hear any feedback from users of these? The WTB's are just about indestructable my main concern is punture/damage resistance on the ralphs are they quite tough in UST ?
  21. Did mine through Dial direct as I have my house and car with them They would only insure to a max of 40 000 on a single bicycle Premium is 276
  22. I think its different this year. Last year we ended day one at Bufflespoort and started day 2 from there so you climbed Breedts and descended the monster on day 1 then climbed the monster and descended Breedts on day 2. I dont know if they going that side this year unless its on day 2 ? Enjoy the climbs at warthogs because you will certainly be doing those Either way I am sure it will be good enjoy it.
  23. I wondered when this bike was going to make its appearance looks very good Mr Henman how does she ride?
  24. Very nice you will enjoy that Spectra and I am sure your girlfriend will like the Saturn PS Welcome to the slippery slope
  25. It was my XT wheel Perfect now since Johan fixed it
