  1. Very nice route much better than last year some good technical bits with loose rock etc I enjoyed it. Only gripe I had was my own fault for being at back at start took me 1 minute to cross the start line
  2. I just get depressed after the race when I see how far the winner was in front of me Buying stuff for the bike is definately the right medicine/cure
  3. Hope I can get out of working the public holiday as this was great ride dont want to miss it
  4. Wait save get the Ventura the fork is worth waiting/saving for plus decent crankset it may be a bit more than you want to spend but so worth it. The first thing you will want to do with the others is change the fork and crank which will cost you best part of 4.5K
  5. The only place I found a noticable diff between slx and xt was with the shifters XT shifters much better (27 speed)

  7. Just checked now Santa Cruz list their XTR SL build at 21.6 lbs with a fox F100 which is about 9.8kg's not bad for a dual susp So mine is a heavy build
  8. Thanks wapad weighs 11.96 wheels and tyres really push the weight as do my dumbell pedals and bar ends Its not a lightweight build by any standards using XT brakes, wheels etc If you want to go for a light weight build you should be to come in at or just under 10kgs The tyres are 800g each and XT's are about 1680g so quite alot of weight available to save with a lighter XC set up (will look at this once I get some money) Basic spec of bits as follows I had the XT brakes and wheels already so used them to save a bit of money along with grips bar ends and saddle. I stuck to XT for cassette crank and chain Discs used XTR 180 and 160 Shifters F&R derailure's cables XTR Seat post and bars Ritchey WCS carbon Stem Ritchey WCS 4 axis Monarch 3.3 and Fox FRL 100
  9. Yes but its their price thats scary
  10. +1 yes lets see some Blur's
  11. Here is Mine still need to cut steerer once get setup finalised but apart from that finished
  12. Got my Blur on Monday Rode it at the Nissan today very happy really climbs nice really stiff still need to fine tune susp and tyre pressures etc to get it spot on but very impressed today with the Blur (engine is the weak link ) I was about to get the Zula but a deal came up on the Blur so I went carbon I think I made right choice but was very keen on the Zula was chatting quite a bit to MWM about his Zula and the one I was planning on building prior to get the Santa Cruz its a beautifull frameset I weighed it prior to build with shock and headset 2100gs MWM Zula really looks stunning still the best looking Zula I have seen
  13. I didnt get the frame from Mike but the frame size is perfect the seat height was not set yet its about 5 inches or so too high I would not be to reach pedals with seat that high Was eager to take some pics so this was before I set the seat height and position
  14. Just for you Are you riding Nissan Saturday?
  15. Mike built up my Santa Cruz Blur on Monday all I can say is brilliant!! If like me you are fussy to the point of OCD I highly recommend them. The attention to detail and quality of the work is just brilliant you can see its done by someone with a passion for doing stuff right and who has great pride in the finished product. There is always so much negative stuff posted about the local bike shops when they get stuff wrong that I think its important to highlight and recommend the guys out there who go out of their way to give quality service. crasher
  16. last one
  17. One more
  18. Just got this a few hours ago :-)
  19. After getting off to a reasonable start my friend broke a chain after about 3km in the sandy section needless to say after repair we were very close I think to being last spent entire 1st lap passing getting held up passing etc had about 10km or so of nicer open riding on the 2nd lap untill hit all the 25km riders so from that point cant say it was one of my most enjoyable races. BUT I booked in on Friday and came home on Monday so got a nice holiday with the wife and kids relaxed ate out to much drank a bit to much beer and had a 2 hour ride on Sunday morning PLUS this was in support on cansa so looking at the big picture was a great weekend. Would I drive that distance to do that race normally .. NO never But as above would I drive there in support on cansa and to have a quick holiday ..YES Bottom line is over 1000 riders sharing a loop of less that 25 km is going to be congested so I sort of expected it to be how it was
  20. Dont ride downhill but was checking out SC website wouldn't you like one of these this bike looks amazing
  21. Some one should of taught her to keep her finger off the trigger untill she's ready to pull it
