  1. No, I know a few guys with road bikes just like that, that are under 6.5kg's
  2. Agree with Tankman here, Continental Gatorskin 28c is the best for the Tandem. Twice the weight on the bike and power. Just going to have problems with the 25c never mind the 23c.
  3. Its great but you need 3G on your phone.
  4. I agree it must be wrong to be parked there, but if you riding your bike during the day and ride into a car standing still. You the complete idiot.
  5. NOT, Cape Storm was
  6. Even if its not hot a person tends to burn, I was riding in the hills yesterday morning between 6:00 and 10:30 and I burnt my arms and legs. It was not even that warm low 20's at the most. Learnt to apply sun block to the pip before I leave home as I seem to have outgrown my hair @ some stage of my life.
  7. I know where that bike has gone, some farmer from texas stole it to use on the barnyard. Wonder if he checks the Hub. He can buy my Cannondale.
  8. 35K Dont ride funrides. Just ride for fun.
  9. What a beaut, under 9kg's sure those wheels make a big difference. But @ 20K they should hopefully not break to easy.
  10. I was commentating on the Topic that the_wes started not on the comments you or anyone else made, whose the Tottie now punk. Anyway I dont care what you have to say I pay cost for all my stuff.
  11. Do you guys ask for discount at PnP, Checkers, Shoprite or any Engens out there when you stop for a coffee. Mmmmm did not think so.
  12. My new toy got to ride her up and down up and down today. Love it. Better ride for the Big Man.
  13. Boet its a 2012 bike and its still only 2011, get over it. Buy another bike. A person cant always get what you want. If you had paid the deposit to the bike shop you would of even been more pissed off. Take your money and go buy what you can get or wait for the stock.
  14. Either ride the bike as is or buy a new bike with better equipment and wheels. Not worth spending 5-6K on groupset to upgrade the bike. Im sure you can get a second hand complete bike for around 8-10K on the sub thats probally 2KG's lighter than the Merida woth much better components. Or just gett rid of that extra 10kgs and that would also make a bigger difference.
  15. I think its just the angle that the pic was taken, if you lokk further down the post the seatpost looks alot different
  16. To many layers of tape for a road rims is not a good idea. This causes you to battle to put the tyre on. One decent Continental rim tape will do the trick.
  17. I think the Athena has a chorus cassette and chain so would go 11speed. the you only have odd things to upgrade later on.
  18. I have a set that I had build up but got two sets and selling the one. 29er ZTR flow rims, Agogo red hubs sealed bearings. S/S Spokes. With stans valves and conversion. google the hubs and you will see they are lighter than the hope hubs. Rims are also very strong. 2.1kg wheels. I did 35kilos on them, one ride. R4000 excl postage but we could work something out maybe. 0824744309
  19. Climbing out the bed is the hardest
  20. Did you scrub the inside of the tyres with Meths likes they show on there website. Worked perfect for us.
  21. Thanks Nimby, got the Flows rather than the Arches today. Black with red hubs. Now just waiting for the frame should be here later in the week. Then I can decide on the fork. Ooo cant wait.
  22. Thanks, I love that sound of the free wheel body. I just checked on the stans site that these dam rims have a weight limit. Well atleast you can replace the rims easier than the XT ones I suppose.
  23. Thanks for all the input guys, what a bout the hope hubs with ZTR think they Arch rims? I know fromprevious racing experience when younger. Custom wheels are always stronger..
  24. I'm a big guy and my 26" wheels just look strange next to a bike that has 29" wheels on. just imagine it in your head with a saddle height of 93cm. Thanks for the input. I also dont have a massive budget so XTR is out of the question. Might even have to down grade to even the SLX. But thats just a thought rather put the 2011 XT on.
  25. So I have taken on building a new bike. What a challenge especially that I cant just walk into any bike shop and pick something from there range because no one stocks suck big bikes. Not going to mention what frame I have ordered. Dont want it to become a debate. But what I can say that its big and correct size. So I want some suggestions on what to build it up with. Wheels, thinking of the New XT 29er's. Groupo XT - 2012 maybe 2011 should be a bit cheaper. fork this is confusing so many different one's. seatpost got a Thompson already 540mm. Got fizik saddle. Stylo bars and stem. Got Look pedals aready. maybe Maxxis tyres since there are no Conti 29er's X-Kings UST. So go ahead and give suggestions. Will sit and look what's for what.
