  1. Neither a climber or racer More a plodder. The experts tell you if you are not a strong climber to work your way to the front before the climb starts then if you do drift off the front you are at least middle of the bunch at the top of the climb. The experts have obviously not ridden in the bunches i have, as everyone has the same idea and all start to sprint to to get to the front before the climb
  2. I would have to be very comfy before i buy/sell expensive items requiring posting. As a buyer i would want receive and inspect the item before parting with my cash, as a seller i would want to have the cash before i release the item. Best method for me with high value and works 100% is face to face with a baseball bat in the boot for backup.
  3. A number of profiles from KZN are linked with either Luke, Preston or mix and topics are either buying or selling items.
  4. Twice i can recall. 1st time was the Argus the year it was so hot, overcompensated with my liquid intake for the heat and ended up overhydrated. 2nd time was Kremertart where i donated blood a few days before, turned out not to be such a good idea and wont repeat that again
  5. Thats what i do, I have canopy on so its a schlep to remove it, its easier to lie it flat plus the canopy has a lock for added security.
  6. Willow Koerber wears one and believes it works
  7. Dont eat yellow snow. Brown stuff you ride through is not always mud.
  8. Rick Hoyt, not so much cycling as Triathlon, he's never won a race, was somewhat of a couch potato untill late but what he's achieved is beyond belief and inspires me.
  9. PB Austarlia have not admitted its a scam, merely that they have no scientific evidence to prove they work which is what they claimed in their advertising. Their claim that it works now rests on people that believe it works.
  10. I'd report him to management.
  11. No holy cows, all's fair in love and cycling and that applies to all bike shops.
  12. Lets give it a chance, Top elite Ladies wont be riding in open bunch but with top vet riders where tactics plays a role in anycase.
  13. Hate to say it but my prediction was right.
  14. Not sure about fridays, but mon-thu.
  15. Sad to think when this thread started, Mark Stockton was still around.
  16. Officially from 5pm but sometimes a bit earlier.
  17. I've had mixed reaction When i was bike jacked a few months back i was walking back home, blood dripping from a broken nose and stab wound in my hand and side. Received plenty of stares but of the hundreds of cars that went by including a SAP and metro cop car (so much for protect and serve) only 1 couple in a bakkie stopped to ask if i was ok. Another time i was riding out Meyerton area when my crank bust, a group of riders stopped and 1 guy phoned his wife to fetch me and take me back to my car. Another incident was in the Suikerbos reserve when i totaled my tyre on a sharp stone, plenty of cyclists rode past and stared, Tumbleweeds ex was the only cyclist to stop and ask if i was ok, then Delgado's wife appeared in a little yellow van and took me back to my car.
  18. I spin at the K90 VA and often pop in there to browse and buy, staff are friendly and helpful, prices overall reasonable and can be compared to other LBS's in the area. They can do a lot more about marketing their shop as unless you enter the K90 area, you wont know they're there.
  19. Seems like the suggestion i submitted that riders be classed in weight categories has been ignored Looks like I'll have to stick to trying to stay with 75kg or less skinnies on hills
  20. Most likely wont have issues, but for warranty EasyGIS being local are credited by Garmin whereas buying from CRC or Bikeinn if you have issues you have to either send it back or pay in to have Avnic repair.
  21. BigH bought some other bracelet not the powerbalance.
  22. Strangely there are still a lot of people that believe they work, Powerbalance in Aus will only reimburse what the purchase price for dissatisfied customers, whereas by now Powerbalance Aus has made a small fortune in interest on the money already.
  23. No safe place to cycle alone, Boksburg Stadium, Carnival Mall/Brakpan out towards Nigel/Springs used to be safe but no longer. Even the dumps at Nortmead is not safe to cycle alone. Your best bet would be to join a group or cycle at Rietvlei.
  24. Ditto, my dealings have always been handled professionally. They always come back to me with any queries and keep their promises unlike other SA on line cycle shops I've dealt with.
