  1. I would consider myself more of a mtber than a roadie. It's not like I ride like this every time. Normally only on a Sunday afternoon cruise or quick trips to the shop
  2. I sometimes use the bike to commute and I really really want a cyclo cross bike. Plus I enjoy it. Frame is cervelo R3, which was kinda made for the paris roubaix, so I think it will hold up. Tyres really don't like all the little rocks and glass lying on the gravel. I do take it easy on the stairs, was more the bunny hops from the sidewalks that had me worried
  3. Wiggle order was done Sunday afternoon and Evans Saterday night, both packages got delivered to our office on Friday morning. Beat that CRC. Wiggle even emailed me my tracking number and they let me know when my package arrived in RSA.
  4. Because of my weight(67kg) this might turn out a kinda stupid question, but how many bumps can these wheels take. I ride them pretty hard. Onto sidewalk, bunny hop off sidewalks, ride some gravel. Sometimes down a few steps/stairs. I know my tyres wont last as long, but how will the wheels take it?
  5. 8sp chains are wider than 9sp, so you might have a problem. Not sure. If you only use one gear, then you can use only one cog of the casette if some of them are loose en use spacers to keep it in place. Spacers you can make from a metal pipe. But first put the chain on the casette and if there is clearance then it should not be a problem.
  6. Why waste chain, if a casette almost cost the same price? Guys would use 3 chains where they could use 1 chain, JUST TO SAVE THE POOR CASETTE. Back to topic, are you a weight weenie? Then go for XTR

  9. Must agree. I just love a sexy looking tt bike. Would also love to own one. Maybe I should start doing some long distance duathlons to justify buying one.
  10. COmmute is 30km one way. No shower at work. Now I come with the car in the morning, cycle back home. NExt morning I cycle to work, take the car and go shower at virgin active.
  11. ONly reason I use bombs, is to help seat the tyres if a footpump doesn't work. Too lazy to go to a garage for the compressor
  12. I used CO2 bombs on all my stans tubeless setups and the stans still works like a bomb. Even after months of use the sealant was perfect.

  15. Now you telling me. Was looking for s-works shoes as they didn't have my size up in Jozi. Also did a wiggle order on Sunday afternoon and already sent to outbound flights ready to be shipped off to RSA. Wiggle has a nice selection for the multisport types What's the website for Andorra? Can't find them

cool stuff. What should we bring along?
  17. Did an order Saterday night and to my suprise, customs phoned me this morning telling me my package is in RSA. Plus point for Evans cycles: Unlike CRC, you can order Mavic products. Unfortunatly not Specialized.(Or luckily for my budget )
  18. Do what I do when out on the road without the torque wrench. (Real simple actually) Just count the revolutions as you loosen the bolt and remember the angle of the allen key. The water will eat away at your bb.
  19. Noted. Thanks guys
  20. Thanks Christie. Where is Mervin Dinkelman cycles? How much do they charge to do it. I have a set of ultra light tufo tubbies that I'll use in the future, but don't feel like going through the hassle to glue them again. I've got a stans syringe with a pipe attached that I use to put stans in my tubeless wheels. I'll use that
  21. Thanks, I'll be carefull when putting in the tufo sealant My plan is to start out easy at first and work my way up to fast descends on them
  22. So I finally glued my tubbies yesterday. (Have never glued tubbies or ridden tubbies before) Is there any way to know if I did a good job? Really don't want my tyre flying off the rim at high speeds around a corner. I used continental glue and gave two coatings to the rim and tubby. Tubbies have been glued before.
  23. Anyone else crazy enough to go for a ride in the rain. We took the roadbikes for a ride about 15min after the rain started here in Centurion and after a few minutes riding it really started to rain. At one stage I had my bb submerged in water while riding through a "puddle". Looks like I lost a cadence sensor. Seeing it was my first ride for the week, I had loads of fun
  24. I also used diesel at one stage. Mainly because it's oil based
  25. Also getting the 5l next time when my bottle is finished. Works nice with the spraycan
