  1. na, these actually work
  2. Zoot all the way? Got yours from troisport? Rather post here please: Compression thread
  3. Eggbeaters are still very strong. Have hit mine couple of times at high speed and nothing wrong with them. Think Weight Weenie has hit his so hard that it did or almost knock him from the bike, and still no problem
  4. MTB: I'll ride mine till it breaks, or till I find the need for an upgrade. Don't think I'll ever replace it because of age. My roadbike I plan on riding for ages, unless I win the lotto(which i don't play). The frame and groupset is light enough for sub 7kg, so I will never have the need to upgrade or anything.
  5. Just got an email about an article : "Optimum Energy for Every Ride" Opening line: "All you need to do is change these six bad habits you didn't even know you had" Experiment at the wrong time Skipping breakfast Underfuelling during long rides Not drinking after the ride Missing recovery window Don't eat too much in winter when you train less Apparently this is groundbreaking news seeing that we didn't know we had this bad habits. Sorry, but google told me that within a month after I started doing endurance sports.
  6. I'm weird. Running crossmark UST up front and Race king protection at the rear. Pressure: Around 2.8bar for both on my carbon HT. I like the speed of the 2.8bar Recently I've been riding at around 2.1bar, thinking more of grip now Oh yeah, I weigh 67kg
  7. Come on Bman. Join the revolusion with some nice eggbeaters. Nothing make a bike look nicer than some eggbeaters and a clean gripshift cockpit. Add some selle italia, a diy chainstay protector and you've got some serious street cred. Do they really not last? Had mine only since January with a fair amount of beating.
  8. The same reason why we keep riding crankbrother pedals. It wears faster, but it's still worth it. Also, the only guys that say you shift by accident are the ones that never used gripshifts. At the rideb4buy, I continueously shifted by accident with the trigger shifters and I got blisters on me fingers. Probably because I'm used to gripshifts.
  9. To be good in the rain, you gotta train in the rain
  10. 3. NO iPODS while racing. This is actually a written rule 4. Never clip in to your pedals while still in the starting pen. Don't agree with this.
  11. What I actually do and where everyone will disagree: Take a pressure washer and clean everything with that. When I get close to the wheel hubs, the bb and the headset I just stand back a bit so that there isn't too much pressure
  12. You could wash it imediatly after the ride/race with soap and water. Give your chain a proper cleaning with a chainscrubber or something. Take a towel and get it dry. Also fold the towel over the chain and spin the crank to make sure its dry. Lube the chain. During summer I ride a lot in mud, so that's all that I do. If paranoid you can then: Remove bb cups and make sure water didn't get in there. Dry it up. Remove headset bearing and dry it up. Remove seatpost and dry it up. After 3 Towers I had to open up my eggbeaters as well to clean them. Tip: Drill a hole in your frame, underneath the bb to let any water that may enter from seatpost side escape. I heard that some soap, except for Hope sh!t cleaner, will effect your brakepads, so clean them afterworths.
  13. How about some slime stuff. http://www.starbike.com/php/product_info.php?lang=en&pid=4912
  14. Did the sprint this year, because of lack of swimming ability. Probably finished in the last 30% of the swim field and found it really difficult working through the field on the bike(some bottlenecks and lots and lots of mud) Training wise: Work a bit on your technical skills for the bike. Get some open water swims before hand. Do some hill training for the run. Entry fee should be around R150 for the lite
  15. Yip, used to drink L-glutamine when I was running more few years ago. Also tried it with water, but as you said...
  16. Haha, ja ja. Let's rephrase. Some cool okes over there and very informative.
  17. Yep, true. Mine was a bit overkill, but I wanted to be ready for trail run this morning and don't want to overdo it before 94.7 next week. Wanted to run with them, but didn't know runners code as I haven't done a race in a while. Will maybe use it next time
  18. Reviving an old thread, but I think I've got my recovery sorted. Did a 10km running race yesterday and afterworths I did the following: Straight after the race took a recovery drink Went to gym and warmed down on eliptical trainer for about 15min. Got a smoothie from kauai and went to steamroom where I first stretched and then laid with my legs elevated. After steamroom I took cold shower and put on compression pants. This morning my legs felt fine and I went for a trail run. Normally after such a hard run I would have very stiff calve muscles the next day.
  19. jep, just like a one night stand
  20. Did my first road running race in 3/4 years this morning. Was actually quite nice again: observations: Seems like it's acceptable to run in compression socks. No euro roadie code 90% of the field run in clubkit pros: started at 6, so I still have the day ahead of me cost me R50 in total. R30 entry and R20 day license took me 3min to get al my gear together cons: Was a big field and 10km, 5km and 21.1km started together in one big bunch. Basically had to run/walk the first 1.5km Walkers/ slow runners starting up front and you have to work your way through them
  21. Shot in the dark: We know some foreigners always have these weird competitions. Maybe they see who can climb up the palm tree with the bike, give it a wash and climb down in the fastest time
  22. Haven't used it, but from what I heard, they are pretty good. I would run this with some sort of chain tensioner to make it easier to flip the wheel
  23. wtf
  24. Think this has been discussed, but I have bought a iTouch, action bike cam, webcams etc and I only paid the normal 15% vat. No duties

Don't need to join a club if you don't feel like to. I have been cycling for a few years and have never joined a club. How far are you cycling and how much are your cycling? To enter an event you only need a helmet and a bike
