  1. Are you sure the seatpost is the correct diameter? How much torque did you use on the seatpost clamp? Rain would not wash it away in my opinion
  2. Carbon paste is used so that you don't need to tighten to recommended torque. Suppose they state that you should tighten to 10Nm, then with the paste you only need to torque to maybe 9Nm
  3. haha, nice
  4. Well let's put it this way. I haven't had a flat since January when I went tubeless. Got another bike this week and today after 1km I got a flat from a "those thorns with the 3 sides". Went straight to the shop and got rim tape and valves. You ask what's the point of tubeless? Lower tyre pressure, lower weight, watch the video in the link. A lot of guys ride without any spare tubes.
  5. Mounting my kenda nevegal today onto the rim with stans
  6. Ok, will give it a try. I just use a bomb if the floorpump doesn't work.
  7. Left valve - Normal valve Middle valve - UST valve Right valve - Valve from tubeless converted wheel (non-UST rim) Want to convert normal wheels to tubeless and when I came back from the bikeshop, I saw that they gave me a UST valve and a normal valve. Can I still use the UST valve on the normal rims? Will be using stans rim tape? I really don't feel like going back to the shop to exchange the valves Valve on the right is from my tubeless converted DT Swiss X1800 wheelset and it almost looks the same as the UST valve.
  8. It's kinda old, but I think it will give me a nice break from ht racing and just enjoy myself. Now I just need to slap some crankbrother pedals on there and a joplin seatpost(maybe a bit later)
  9. Hope Sh!t shifter did wonders on the casette
  10. Took it apart, greased hubs, cleaned rest of the bearings, gave it a good wash and lubed up
  11. Took delivery of my playmate yesterday
  12. Had some good and bad experiences at lots of shops. Always have a good experience from Andre at Epic Sport in Centurion.
  13. Ah sweet, always nice to see someone ride a chain for km's on end. I do the same.
  14. Ja, the guy at the petrol station told me
  15. RS recommend that the negative should never be more than 20psi higher than positive. (Could maybe only be to cover their asses) My positve has been at 0psi and negative at 130psi. Still works fine
  16. Whats up with the big difference in prices? Was riding down Rivonia today and stopped at Caltex or whatever. They charge R8.30 a litre. Told the guy they are crazy and went accross the road to shell. They have normal diesel at R7.87 and diesel super or whatever at R8.22 That's R30 difference between the two. What the hell? (I used to buy the better quality diesel because there were only 5c difference.)
  17. Haha, I've learned so much since I started this thread. Couldn't believe I asked those questions and it's only a year ago. Those chain scrubbers work good. I've had the park tool one, but haven't used it for more than a year. Now I just remove the chain, soak it in parafine(which I keep in an old whey protein container) and then in warm water with sunlight. Clean off the sunlight with running water and dry the chain. This I do when the chain gets really dirty.
  18. XT is better than SLX XX is better than X.0 One type of thing can't be better than another, because it all depends on everything. You running 3x9? You strong? What bike you have? etc. Then we could recommend, but you won't get a definite answer. You'll have to decide or experiment what is best for you I know with my 2x9 setup, I can still ride a certain gradient without too much trouble on a 11-34 casette
  19. Eish, The fast One (maybe) Dischem Ride4sight Argus 94.7 Maybe some other roadie events Babbas Lodge races Nissan Series Maybe some MTN races Isuzu 3 Towers Maybe a 12h/24h relay Maybe TransBaviaans Momentum/Teavigo Duathlon series (some of them) Big 5 at Oyster Festivel (maybe)
  20. Not trying to ditch the weight or anything. Just looking for ideas to save weight on my bike. My extra lite stem - 95g Handlebar - 105g Selle italia saddle - 135g EC90 - 195g Tyres (680g + 590g) - changing to rocket ron non ust this week
  21. THink it's a weird question. Mine is hr and pleasure. If I had enough money, it would be hr, power and pleasure. Or stated otherwise. On sunday afternoon it's pleasure. During intervals it's hr. During racing it's feel
  22. Bragcord, what's the weight of the frame and the weight of the wheels. Asking cause my frame is 1.25kg, my wheels 1.8kg and my groupset lighter than xt. Using extralite handelbar and stem, which weighs nothing and a ec90 seatpost. My bike is still over 10kg. I know the sid world cup is 200g lighter than my reba race
  23. who, that has pb lying around will join me and attach it to the bike on sunday
  24. And then the lady from RICA. "Yes sure, I want to RICA my sim. Let me just get my proof of residence from my backpocket where I normally keep it"
