  1. Don't joke. Those two long range bottles of mine just made it for the 110 km ride. Took the last sip when I was about 2 km away from home and I still drank another almost 3 litres in the 90 minutes after the ride. It was rather humid and very hot on Saturday.
  2. For an oversized rider
  3. Decided to take some pictures on my ride this Saturday. Summer is out at full force at the moment so had to do the ride in the morning as it was going to get too bloody hot in the afternoon for bike fun. Morning start with the sun rising Lake Starnberg from the South Target in the distance ... Peißenberg At the top Nice little app called Peakfinder that shows you the names of the mountain peaks. Zugspitze being the highest in Germany My trusty stead with the long range tanks which was very important with the current temps we have Relive video for those that are interrested https://www.relive.cc/view/vrqD4zmVywq
  4. Did someone actually find it?
  5. Is it wrong to think this is actually funny.
  6. I stepped onto this youtube video some time ago and found that very informative wrt SA History... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdmZDHVYRoA
  7. Sorry to hear and glad you still have your bike and are unharmed. Would you be able to give more info? Time of day, maybe put a mark on a map maybe please.
  8. Closest I have experienced was about 25-30 meters. Ligthing struck a palm tree in our garden at 3.00 am in the morning oh and then the lapa burnt down. Still had to do a system demo to the defence force and my eyes could not focus properly on anything as there was still ash in my eyes.
  9. I always thought they could have refined the nose a bit, but I suppose that would have made the aircraft even longer. I find it "mooi van lelikheid". Quite a piece of engineering though.
  10. The biggest thunderstorm I ever experienced was at Umhloti beach north of Durban. A storm moved from the south along the coast to Richardsbay. That night I could look at the ships parked a couple of kilometers into the sea like it was daylight. It was just the one ligthning strike after the other. Two boys got killed that night by lightning just outside Umhloti
  11. That is a cool website. Germans in general does not seem to be bothered about lightning too much. Our first school sporting event with our daughters had a thunderstorm the afternoon. As the lighting came up the people were not phased about it moving over the sports fields without worrying. I just told my daughters to stay under the pavilion regardless what the teachers say. One guy who sometimes commuted with me here in Germany went to the Drakensberg for his honeymoon. He spent most of it in hospital as he got hit by lightning in the Berg.
  12. I suppose this kids' number was not up yet ... https://twitter.com/PressTV/status/1285842928255066113?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1285842928255066113%7Ctwgr%5E&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wetteronline.de%2Fwetterticker%2Fvideo-blitz-trifft-fussballer-202007223230804
  13. Speaking of size comparisons. I loved this pic BA took when they took delivery of their first A380. They put the A380 and the A319 head to head for a pic here ...
  14. You should get out of the house more often if you do not see "roadies" do what you mentioned in the first two points
  15. Not sure when but I will try my best on my next visit to SA fly with Lufthansa to SA. They still fly the new 747-8 to Joburg (pre corona) so hope that when thing sort off turn to normal that I can get that chance.
  16. Sorry to hear.
  17. As I said before, I think Airbus produces good aircraft but the 747 will remain the queen of the skies and the most beautiful airliner ever to have flown. Not many airliners will have a career that span 50 years.
  18. From an aviation point of view the 747 is surely the biggest loser in the Covid 19 saga. Very sad to see how quickly it is given the boot. Quantas, Air france; British Airways, I think KLM as well. https://www.flightradar24.com/blog/british-airways-to-retire-its-entire-747-fleet-immediately/?utm_campaign=website&utm_source=sendgrid.com&utm_medium=email
  19. Maybe Trump is sending a little gift for the Italian mafia.
  20. I am really happy for you. I would like to see what the BR plan is wrt to the top structure.
  21. I did not post here for a while. I for some stupid reason have not been taking too many pics while riding lately. But allas I took some yesterday again. I might have said it earlier this year but I made it my mission this year to find and ride roads that I have not ridden before in my area and to date I have not been dissappointed. It is amazing what I have found all in a 25 - 30 km radius from my home. Our cycling club in the mean time have started a Strava Cup, where we have setup strava segments that we will compete on within our club. So every week at the moment we are getting new segments and last night I went to scout a new segment on a road that I have never been on before. Here is a climb near the town of Bad Tölz which is 3,36 km at an avg gradient of 5% but spikes up to 13% and certain points. Loving finding new roads
  22. This is sickening to read how often this is happening now. I posted on the Pretoria safety thread as one of my friends was attacked yesterday. Luckily they failed and he got away unscathed and nothing stolen.
  23. Attempted attack on a friend of mine yesterday in Pretoria near Voortrekker monument. Thugs tried to knock him off his bike but he is luckily a tall guy so the failed in knocking him over and he could ride out to safety.
  24. With the rate Covid-19 is spreading in Texas I am not sure how good your chances will be in Dallas.
  25. Air traffic is picking up again here in Germany. I hear every now and then an aircraft flying over. Was so quiet for so long.
