  1. Wat is assitport club?
  2. I saw on supercycling last night that Andrew Neetling is leaving the team as well.
  3. Take a look at this topic. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/90518-holiday-rides-gansbaaioukraalpeart-beach/page__p__1233511__fromsearch__1#entry1233511
  4. I am heading there for the first time on the 16th. Saw the hightlights of the 3towers race and it looked awsome. The camping is really cheap as well.
  5. Cycle house (but its in PTA)
  6. Hey gents. I will pm you my e-mail. I am keen on any riding as well. Are there any gravel roads from Gansbaai to Hermanus? Its gonna be great!
  7. Im in Gansbaai from christmas untill new year. Me and a buddy are keen to join for a ride or 2. What distances are you lookig at and waht speed do you do. We dont know the area at all.
  8. What type of triathlons? You get 'off-road' triathlons like the sasol series, so with a MTB you can do them and ride some trails?
  9. I see that the multisport athlete did very well at this years 94.7. Brand du Plessis took the vets on the road race and Conrad Stoltz won the M.T.B. yesterday. I saw that super cycling spoke to Burry and Conrad during today's road ride and they made a remark that events like the Xterra should get more TV coverage. I think this is great news! SA should realize that we have not only a great rugby, soccer, cricket etc. teams, but we do really well in other sports as well. Thumbs up to Conrad and Brand for being excellent ambassadors!
  10. I dont think MTB'r are very judgmental. A great example is: At this years Sabie Classic I was about 20km into the ride (marathon) and was going at the same speed as two other okes. I could hear them chat. A that moment an older gent (about 55 to 60 years) came past us on his 19... bike, no suspension (not even the fork), cheepie helmet and tekkies on flat pedals. The one oke next to me said to his buddy 'Now that is respect!' whilst pointing to the older gent.
  11. Hey Rex, why dont you try Cycle House. Maybe they can help. It not a big shop but Anton always comes to the party (service and price). I have been using them for a while now and I actually drive 45km to them instead of the other 4 LBS's within a 5km radius of my house.
  12. And the Xterra Grabouw (not actually cycling but sort-off)and Sabie Classic on the same day!
  13. I have a clip-on haven't had any issues thus far. The bike rack is very versatile and has been used on all the family cars (hatch). I have only fitted 2 bikes on it thus far with no issues. I will have to carry 3 bikes for a trip to Mankele in Dec, but I think its going to be a bit of a mission. In my opinion, it you are going to carry more than 2 bikes, go for roof mounted. If not I can recommend the clip on
  14. Thanks Ratty. So I guess its the Garmin 800 for me. I read some reviews and apparently its brilliant!
  15. I will probably receive my iPhone 4 early next week, but I just have one concern. about using the iPhone for mountain biking. How robust is it? What happens if you take a tumble or fall in a river crossing(water damage)? Is anyone using an iPhone for mountain biking?
  16. Same here. I had a medium MTB (17”) but had to extend the seat post to far out that I eventually cracked the frame (where the top tube and seat post connects). I have now switched to a large and must say, I am really comfy on it. I know that the Merida Medium is an 18” so it can still fit for 1.81m. The medium I had was 17”
  17. One of my buddies is doing this race and I would like to tag along as a supporter. Does anyone know if I will have to pay the entrance fee at Suncity. Apparently it about R240?
  18. One thing to keep in mind is when you are riding technical single track, rather use a lower gear. This will help you to get over most obstacles without taking a hike. On flowing singletrack I find that the middel in front is perfect and on a flat stretch I normally use between 4 and 6 on the rear.
  19. Thanks for the feedback gents. Where do you do your open water swimming? At Buffelspoort dam?
  20. As a newby to triathlons I am looking for a training program. I have only done 2 sprint triathlons and have my sights now set on doing to Xterra Buffelspoort next year January. Can anyone recommend a decent training program for the Xterra? Or do you just follow a standard Olympic distance program?
  21. Me to. I went down there at 73km/h on my MTB and crawled up at 12. These races are not made for nobbly tyres
  22. The Caveman is a legend!
