  1. I moved from a chest strap to a dedicated optical one on my arm and the difference has been noticeable. The chest strap was inconsistent and battled in cooler winter mornings. My average was much higher with the cheat strap compared with my arm one. The arm HR being closer to what I would expect to see. Maybe I just needed to replace my Garmin unit because I tried a new strap. All that said...I have replaced a chafe on my chest with an odd suntan on my Arm
  2. I really don't mind the commentary team. At least Rob has stopped going on about 29" wheels now that he has dropper posts to discuss! Ha ha. To his credit he had polished up on his knowledge a helluva lot on the past couple of years compared to when he first started commenting on cross country. I would say his knowledge is sufficient enough now to give an informed perspective on the race.
  3. Great women's race today - definitely a new breed of young athletes coming through (along with a 40 year old) am i the only one who finds it ridiculous that they have to mention Emily batty just because she is a red bull athlete...i mean she has not really been on the front end of racing in the past 2 or 3 years
  4. some inspiration for your week
  5. I don't really have knee impact issues but I've been running for about 6 years apart from when I was at school. ... Biggest reason for me is simplicity. I'm out my door with minimal effort and in an hour I can get a solid workout come rain or shine winter or summer. Other reason is the community... Running has a great community.. Not saying cycling doesn't but I find the running community to be more social
  6. I see it's snowing in Austria already......

For pole vault they decided there's only one record for indoor and outdoor.. Goodness knows why... He's already vaulted 6:18 indoors but was yet to vault more than 6:14 outdoors which was what bubka vaulted outdoors... Doing that last night he could say that he had bettered the great ukraine officially

Duplantis now the greatest pole vaulter officially/unofficially after breaking Sergi Bupka's unofficial, originally official, outdoor record. also Saw a cracking men's 3000m with 2 19yr olds coming in at 1 and 2
  15. It's just a local marathon restricted to 200 entrants. It's the gap of dunloe marathon. You basically run up and down 3 big hills. Not massive ascent... About 800m... But enough to make it a hard morning out
  16. I think she is going to be one of the most important independent female artists in the next ten years...time will tell
  17. Ran my virtual Boston Marathon yesterday. Never had a plan to go out to break any PB's or anything.. Just planned to take a nice easy sub 8 min mile run and finish the marathon under 3:30. Let me tell you running a marathon on your own without any crowds with a set goal is a lot harder than anticipated. Not feeling in the zone on the day didn't help either. I knew it was going to be a long day when I was feeling uncomfortable at 8 miles in to the run and my heart rate was about 10 bpm higher then it normally would be at that pace. I managed to plod along at my goal pace till about 23 miles, but those last three miles were not fun at all with a few strategic walks. Still managed to finish in my time, and I was glad to have done it. It was definitely a wake up call for the hilly marathon I have in November!
  18. Maritzburugh would be icey though!! I can't remember if it's a down or up run
  19. The other flip side is that September is also renowned for very cold fronts with snow
  20. I'm watching unforgotten on netflix. First season is a bit dated but the next season is really good.. Just started the third season. It's about a police crew in the UK investigating cold cases
  21. That exactly what that review I posted was about.. Netflix has created a film about the way children are sexualized by sexualizing children. They've kind is defeated the objective they tried to get across
  22. Happened to see #cancelnetflix was trending. This is because of cuties..... What's your take? I'm not gonna watch it primarily because it looks ****.... But...I think the whoever let this through to production has a real discontent from society because it looks downright creepy https://youtu.be/ZciUIxbD4L4
  23. yeah - its not bad - watched it
  24. Phoebe Bridgers Punisher becoming my most listened to album this year now
