Great route and not too tough for a 70km. The start of the route makes for a good warm up before the climbs. There is a lot more hills in that area as the guys will see on next year's Epic. All in all the best ppa event I have done. Great prizes, loads of waterpoints and good venue. Think the event will be massive in years to come!
I own a Segma and ride hectic XC trails like helderberg. Love it. Reba is great. Recently tested a 29er with a Lefty and wasn't impressed, but the bike wasn't set up for me. I think you have to take that into consideration.
Weight before bottle cages was 11.6kg for a Large frame segma 29er. Steerer not shortened on the Reba and including those plastics on the pedals and casette.
Did the Grape Escape on one of these. Awesome bike! My other XC bike is a Merida 96 and i like the ride the Segma offers much more, even on single track.
