  3. http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/alucab/canopy.jpg Build monocoque (structural skin) trailer frame with rectangular tubing to size for 6 or 8 bikes, cover with aluminium sheets, to form luggage space, divide luggage box in 6 or 8 compartments with door for each compartment that can lock on side of trailer, think drop down door will work best, fit bike rack on top of monocoque frame. Each rider have his own luggage compartment. Not necessary to lift lid to get to luggage. Saw bakkie with aluminium canopy using this concept. see http://hilux4x4.co.za/diy-canopy-steel-frame-aluminium-cladding/
  4. After quietly launching 27.5-inch tires last month, Specialized did the same today with their first Stumpjumper FSR Expert Carbon EVO 650B.
  5. I have a Raleigh RC7000 alum frame with Carbon rear stays and full carbon fork in mint condition medium size 51cm. I am 1.71m and a 54 is to big for me. You can have frame with carbon saddle post, handle bars, ritchey carbon seat post, ultegra BB and ultegra front derailer, neat water bottle holders and saddle all in very good condition for R 1600.00. The RC7000 frame can be very close to the RC3000 carbon frame weight wise, for a additional R 2300.00 I will add a Easton Vista wheel set also in very good condition.

  9. We checked at LBS and 650B Kenda 2.0 Karma tyre have a higher profile than some 650B 2.1 tyres, we measured and found there is also a difference in width between the difference makes of tyres. All 2.0 is not the same width between the difference makes. Check the profile as there is a big difference between different makes of 650B tyres. We measure the circumference of a 29 tyre, 26 tyre and 650B tyre. The low profile 650B tyre was close to a high profile 26 tyre and the high profile 650B tyre measure about halfway between the high profile 26 tyre and the 29 tyre. So if your frame cannot take the higher profile 650B tyre it is maybe not worth to do the conversion.

  12. Definitely scam, visit the shop this morning, the very friendly Chinese owner at 33 Reitz street Kroonstad say he used to sell only cheap bike but for the last 2 years he do not even sell bicycles any more. He did not know about the website using his shop address and he will follow up on it.
  13. I have a laser line level and use the horizontal illuminated line to line up sadel to frame and stem to wheel.
  14. My LBS got me a headset reducer to convert a straight steerer for tapered head tube from Crane creek South African agents, was a bit more than 50 bucks but reducer with bearing is top quality and I did over 5000km with it to date with no problems
  15. I use Racing Ralphs at front and the little bit heavier but stronger Kenda Karma 650B tyres for the rear on Stans Crest ZTR rims and did over 3000km on them with no problems. Used Joes sealant and had no sealing problem.
  16. See "Scott Spark 29" Epic Failure" You mean "go ride the crap out of it and walk back"
  17. You can also stay over much cheaper in Senekal or Fouriesburg and drive through to Ficksburg in the morning as the race only start at 8:00
  18. I did the 40km last year and it was a challenging route , But enjoyed the race and this year I am doing the 60km.
  19. Capricorn. I did not used CO2 bomb, I see Stans say on container that sealant will only stay liquid in thin casing tyres for 2 to seven months. On yhe Maxxis Cross mark tyres I used it did last longer, can be as the Maxxis casing is thicker than the Racing Ralph casing. I see Joe's have warning on there container " Do not inflate with CO2 canisters" but Stans do not have a warning about using the CO2.
  20. I have Racing Ra lph EVO front and Kenda Karma rear on Stans ZTR crest 650B rims. The Kenda is bit heavier but stronger than the Racing Ralph EVO. Had lot of sealing issues with Stans sealant as some area we ride in the Free State have a lot of the hard type thorns and if the thorn come out the Stans will just leak out and I have to stop to inflate the tyre. When removing the tyre to refill it had the funny shape solid in side and just thin liquid and this only after about 2 months after refilling it. I do shake the container before a refill. I then changed to Joe's Super sealant and now if a thorn come out of the tyre the Joe's seal it immediately and I can go months before just topping up the Joe's a bit. The Joe's do not get solid. Also got a bottle of a new tyre sealant product called” S.T.T Tyre sealant “at the Johannesburg international motor show, it is water base and according to the manufactures will last the life of the tyres. You get different thickness sealant for bikes, cars and off road vehicles. It is a South African product and is manufacture from old tyres. Will test it and see if the claims they make is true. At the show they demonstrate it on a car tyre and it sealed the hole they made with a steel rod immediately. demondd
  21. He admit it already a year ago. Garmin-Sharp said they were backing their rider."As we have previously stated, our expectation is that anyone in our organisation contacted by any anti-doping authority must be open and honest with that authority," a team statement read."Ryder is no exception and a year ago when he was contacted he cooperated fully and truthfully testified to USADA and CCES (Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport)."For this reason and because of our desire for 100 percent truth and reconciliation in the sport of cycling, we support him."Several riders at Garmin-Sharp, including former Armstrong team mates David Zabriskie, Hesjedal, Tom Danielson, Christian Vande Velde and manager Jonathan Vaughters, have testified before USADA against the disgraced American rider.
  22. Also had a noise that I could not located eventually found the problem, it was the seat steel rails were it go in to the plastic of the seat, I lube them now after each wash and noise are gone
  23. Giant as the larges manufacture and Merida second larges is looking at the European market. South Africa is a very small market and in Europe the 29 niner did not catch on as in South Africa. So the 29 niners sold in South Africa in global terms will not influence there decision if the European and Americans buy into the 27.5 wheel size. According to the data from COLIBI and COLIPED (the EU industry associations for bicycle and bike parts makers) the number of bikes sold in the EU in 2011, compared to was just under the 20 million mark, France moved into third place in the European market, with 3.2 million bicycles sold in 2011. How many bikes are sold in South Africa in a year?
  24. Advise please. My fourth Crater cruise marathon this year, all three times previously I have used the time out option at the halfway point and had a rest of 10 to 15 minutes, but I am thinking to skip the rest at the halfway point and just press on this year. After the rest it feel if I lost my rhythm and it take me a while to get going again. Is there any guys or girls that have done it with and with out the time out option and rest at the halfway point. What is the better option?
