  1. I really think you should think about politics...You'd be good at it! You are good at what you do here on the Hub...I am sure you can use it better elswhere... You could be like our political compass...Or a moral one...
  2. I think with things like this it is aaaaaaalllllll about the approach. Hey dude, that is a nice bike you have... Where did you buy it from? (From a guy...BS) How much did youpay for it? (R500 for an epic s-works is a bargain) How long have you had it? (3 years but the bike is looked after and has new tyres) What do you use it for? Do you race it? (You don't race a Scalpel????) Nice groupset...have you had to replace anyparts and how much did it cost? (No idea...) What cycling shoes do you have as it has clipless pedals...(Huh...) Why did you go for a Thompson seatpost and not a KCNC (Hey wena...Huh) You want to sell it? (Maybe...Yes...but never no...) How much do you want for it? (Bet it will be a bargain...)
  3. No really, you would make a great white Malema...
  4. You should get into politcs.
  5. It's easy to sprint slower. You stay seated and increase the resistance. Booooooom. Pukies is a new thing that I do and there is a theory behind it. It simulates you being in the wrong gear when a breakaway happens...Plus, your legs will be tired so it will teach your body what to do with the lactic acid that will be sitting in your quads... In the past it used to freak me out that I could not respond to breakaways near the end of the race...This works for me.
  6. Did I mention I gave this away for free? Use it, don't use it. You. are. welcome!
  7. Cooldown is BS. Do you do "cooldown" after a race? Then why do it during training? Cooldown does nothing and means nothing. Forgot to mention you can take the sprinting out and make it climbing if you don't like sprinting. Oh and sprinting should not be avoided by beginners. They can sprint slower (read within their abillities.) As far as I am concerned there are only 2 ways to train. Low volume/hig entensity and high volume/low intensity. You can't hold back on low volume stuff. But that is just my opinion.
  8. Who the hell is frank zappa?
  9. Aaaah...If the cable is slightly damaged, this could make sense. When you brake, there might be a slight hydraulic cable move which could flex the wire creating the break in the wire... If you would remove the wire from the hydraulic line, bet you the problem would go away. Anyway, I would agree that the wire from the computer housing to the sensor is busted. Most likely closer to the housing. Check it, maybe you can see some damage.
  10. Do you have cable disc brakes or is it hydraulic? I am just wondering how the computer "knows" you are pulling the brake? Is there a difference between pulling the front and rear brake? Does the same thing happen to the computer?
  11. before you take anything back, try the following: Remove the magnet from the spoke. Remove the sensor from the fork lower. Place the computer in its housing. MANUALLY run the magnet past the sensor with your hand and check the computer of it responds. If that works then the only problem you might have is sensor/magnet placement. Try to get a feel for how close the sensor and magnet have to be to each other to work. what side of the wheel/fork does the magnet/sensor sit? should be on the NON braking side if you have discs (and it is a mtb???). what is the distance between the sensor and the magnet? Should be <5mm. On a road bike the sensor and magnet will be closer to the rim than the hub. On a MTB it is the other way around.
  12. For a R100 bucks I can make Jimmy vanish...Damn, I will even vanish...I'm easy! Can I pm you my banking details?
  13. Some stuff on here I have never even heard of.
  14. Good luck with doing "base training" on a spinning bike. I wil give you a nice 60min one: 5 min warmup (5min) 10 x 30sec sprints (30sec rest inbetween sets) (15min) 5 x Twenty one thirties: 2min sprint, 1min rest 1min sprint, 30sec rest 30sec sprint, 2min rest repeat 5 times (increase resistance as time goes down) (50min) 5min recovery (55min) 5 x 30sec pukies: 30 sec max resistance, max cadance, 30sec rest/recovery (60min) This is one of my own...it works for me.
  15. So you rode the crap out if it?
  16. Nee dit is goed so...maar hoekom wil jy in die stof/natuur loop speel en dan na 'n i-pod loop staan en luister.
  17. Isn't NZ that little island with the uhm...uhm...No wait, we have the world cup...
  18. I am glad they did that! That water crossing thing right at the start is not good!
  19. I think he said 32x14... Damn, if he ever beats me on a SS I will have to convert!
  20. I see that Jules took the long one on a SingleSpeed...Who needs a 29'er??? Well done Boet!
  21. I checked in the results of the short one a rider was DQ'd for i-pod usage. How do you MTB with an i-pod???
  22. Holy cow - do you take toilet paperwith you on your "journey"? :-D
  23. My definition of bonking is running out of fuel. Remember to fill up your tank BEFORE the race and not just trying to top it up DURING the race. For a marathon, i start filling up 2 days before the race WITHOUT doing any training.
  24. This is going to be fun.
