  1. Ok, long story short: My car broke down on Tuesday. It was enough to nudge me in selling it. So now I am taking the wife's car and getting her a new one. So I am thinking about putting on something like a Thule bike carrier - the ride on type not the hangon or clip on stuff. With this kind off carier, apart from the obvious - people smacking into the car from behind etc, what should I be aware off? Or should I rather ask how damage proof will my bikes be on the back? I think driving in the rain will collect a lot af dirt from the backdraft of the car...Yes?
  2. Oh Dangle this part: You seem like a little hothead windgat with a short fuse It is like looking in the mirror no?
  3. Wel in daai geval is ek jammer. Ek appolgeer heftig oor my komedie van aannames. Personal beef? Heck, how can it be personal if it is done here??? And your assumption about me is spot on! Well done! However, I do have to go now. It is my turn to make dinner!
  4. By who? The top achievers here on the hub? Hubbers with 10,000 posts maybe? The average couch potato? You see boet, I have a theory. It goes like this: It is human nature to want recognition. That is why you did the singlespeed thing at Attekwas, no? You see, if you did it on a F/S, carbon 29'er, you would have been...average. Here on the hub, hiding behind your keybord, you can be anything you want to be. You can question Tuna about his "results". He can question your attitude. At the end of the day, all we want is for someone to acknowledge us. We just want recognition. Hubbers, you are all special! (in a funny way...)
  5. I said to my wife that the only way that boy will ever loose weight is if he moves away from his mom! She is the reason he is overweight!!!
  6. You know, I have a box of medals in my closet. I believe most of you do too. Recently my neighbor's son saw that box. And ever since that day, in his eyes, I am da BOMB! I am a mtb'ing god! It makes no differnece to him if that medal in that box has half marathon, marathon, 1st place, 100th place on it. Should we as adults not act the same way? Yes Burry Stander does not brag about his results. But I bet he won't shoot down the 30 year old who has won a 20km race in Putsonderwater! Downplaying a fellow cyclists results are just as bad as boasting about your own! (Sorry Oom H, I was wrong!)
  7. Did you guys watch that program on ZnRea last night - Half ton dad? Dude weighs 463kg!!! That box will be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to small.
  8. Yes I did. And it will only (as always) be greated with words. Look mate, I remember when I "won" my first race. It was 2009 - my second ever MTB race. It was 20km. Emperors palace mtb race. I did it in less than 60min. I was CHUFFED as you would not believe. I told everyone and their dog about the result! I Why is it that when a person does good, someone will always trample on his efforts? In time I realised while at that stage I felt the result was awsome, today, I can just smile at myself. I will leave you with this: I am well aware of your accomplishments dear Dangle. And I know that you are a kick ass cyclist. And I know how you feel about people who go on about winning a 20km race. However, just move over a bit and let the sun shine on the little guy too!
  9. You know, I just don't fully agree with you. You see, I have a daytime job from 08:00 to 17:00. Most of my training gets done after 17:00. Most of that is on a spinning bike in the gym and most of that is between 60 and 90min. Then on weekends, maybe 2 long rides of 2hr's each. So do the math and you get to 8 - 12hours a week. More 8 than 12 (Includes one rest day.) I am not a pro. I wish I was...but I am not. I can not sleep half of the day and train the other half. Hence, I can not compete in world champs and nationals. I wish I could...But I can't. I take exception with this: Re. shorter events, weekend warriors, and school kids are the ones who do most of these events, so to go and race agains peeps who don't take the race or themselves too serious and brag about a top three spot is kinda like stealing candy from a baby. All you have left out above are the roadies...But when I do a short event, hell yes I take it serious. I go and give it everything I have. For you to downplay my efforts - not nice! I do what I can with what I have. I am not you. I don't do 24hr races (and win them) I just don't have the time to do it. If I did, I would! I would LOVE to train more. I would love to kick some pro ass!!! But my wife depends on me. Not to be a cyclist. But to provide! So I have to work. And cycling will be number 2 in my life always! Don't tell me that what I do is not good enough. It might not be for you, but it is for me!
  10. Voted! Can I vote more than once?
  11. It is like Ireland. One win against the Ozzies does not make them world champs. Neither does 2 trophies for a tandem. PS: Mense wat in glas huise bly moet eerder nie klip gooi nie - Ek het nou klaar al jou spelfoute probeer tune. Los myne uit en ek los joune uit! 10-4?
  12. What is it with you peeps and "short races"? I do both on my MTB. Funny enough, I do better on the longer ones. To me they are 2 different races. The longer ones start off slower and if you have a mechanical, you can still fix it and get back in the race. The shorter ones are nothing else than a sprint. If you have a mechanical, 9/10 times, your race is over!!! If you think shorter mtb races are for sissies, then bring your MTB and let me and you go do a 40km and let us put your theory to test. I like both types, They test different senses of your humour!
  13. It is German. It means: "Stop playing on the hub and go watch the game!" Aspecially Especially Asspecialy Espicialy Aespecially EaiSpiciaely Aspeshiallie There, have fun. Get it out of your system.
  14. Espicially when you never leave...
  15. 9 pages already. The only other thread that beats this is saying your leaving...It attracks a truck load of flies!
  16. Ag nee man! This is discrimination - I never received any hub spam!!!
  17. Cats or dogs?
  18. In daai geval ken jy nie droogte nie.
  19. Ek wil nie eers dink nie. My bakkie het vandag besluit hy het ver genoeg gery - en toe loop staan die demn ding! So nou wag ek om te hoor wat is die diagnose...Ek vermoed 'n koppelaar kabel... Ek dink dit gaan my geld kos. Ag boks!
  20. Nog boggerol hier in die Ooste.
  21. Net as jy dit bedoel.
  22. I just woke up...for the second time today...Guess I am taking the rest of the day off as w...wait, it is 16:40 allready....Back to bed.
  23. O darn! I might even be...you!
  24. How is this for irony: Hubbers are concerned weather small h is a female... Uhm, this is the internet. No one is ever who they say they are. For all you know, I could be bald, fat, and black. Sheeeeeeeeeeeet, I might even be a nice person in real life.
  25. Yah but with that 29'er on the back, you can't see it is a Golf.
