what powermeter addons ?

Ciaran Power is one to watch. He comes from Waterford about 40min fomr me and he usually comes to train in the summer eveing races when everyone else is going flat out. Anyway he placed 13th at the Olympics a few years ago and has had some impressive results e.g 2007 - 4th behind Petacchi in Rund um Koln, Irish Crit Champ, 2006 2 stages of the FBD Ras (bit like SA Giro). Was with Navigators for a long time before coming back to Ireland & Pezula. He's a very friendly approachable dude..he comes down to our club once a year to give us plebs some advice on how to ride a bike faster than a tortoise

so you can watch the traffic behind you and crash into the car in front ?

Speedplay

Installed on Laptop then on PC. All fine..so far I really like the Summary on the Athlete Home page. Very cool to see Recent Month activity etc. ok going to play some more......

I'm not an Engineers etc so please forgive the question but he says; "The power output is determined entirely by your muscles: how fast and how hard they contract. (This explains why you can?t improve your power output by changing to cranks that are a little longer or shorter.) " but if I turn a 170mm crank at 90rpm and a 180mm crank at 90rpm I am surely using more power to trun the longer crank. Is the difference in lenght is too small to make a difference or is the only relevant value the speed at which we spin the cranks ?gianni2008-01-07 13:30:47

Just spent some time setting them up and trying them on indoor trianer. Feel good. Ging for a spin on Sunday to test them out...they certainly FLOAT!!!! can one "tighten" up the tension on the pedals ?

I'm obviously very late into this "discussion" but here's my 2cents worth.... People have been cutting that particular corner in races on Helshoogte for a LONG LONG LONG LOOONG time. I'm amazed at how shocked people are over this... People in a race WILL take chances, and WILL cut corners if the chance is there. Especially if they're on the limit and cutting a corner will stop them getting dropped. If riders safety is so paramount maybe there should be a few cones up along the last few hundred meters + some marshals up there to stop people from crossing the line......then everyone would HAVE to ride on the outside. Hello. For those using Speedplay and who have the time, do you have any tips etc. with regards to setting up speedplay pedals ? Anything that's tricky or may cause a stuff if not done correctly..... They seems quite a bit more involved to setup. thanks!

Got a pair of X2 to try out for a week or so.

Looking at getting speedplays. Was it very tricky to get them set up correctly etc ? Seems like you have a bit mroe to do to get the cleat 100%

Why do you think all the people coming over are from the old colonies....it's great 'cause one day there will be no more English...you will all either be Indian / Aussie / NZ / SA /Argentinian etc etc ........... well except for the ones living in Spain but the Spanish can sort them out.....
