  1. Does this mean that on your first outing if you hit a rock it's going to break in half and sink ????
  2. Had a Rekon Race on the rear and was surprised not only by the grip but how long they lasted. Used on tar and trail I got around 1500km's out of it. But I would only consider them as a front tyre on gravel rides.
  3. Exploring trails I have not been on, ending on private property luckily I was not shot, could probably see we were lost ????
  4. Free. Would go nice with a classic bike.
  5. I wouldn't know I wasn't there but don't see a reason he would lie about it.
  6. He bought the current 2021 and got a good deal I think. Still a great looking bike.
  7. A friend just bought a Spark on my recommendation and he saw the new one on the floor for R170k.
  8. Post a wanted ad it will be your best bet.
  9. I like it! It's time for something new. Don't think the bike mechanics will love it so much but tough cookie ????
  10. If you're Scott came with Fox suspension most likely it was already more travel. Buddy of mine has the new 930 supposed to have 130mm up front and I had a 940 think 2019 and both have/had 140mm travel.(stantions measured more but fox never uses all of it). Best thing I did was ad 20mm to my Scale (after the dropper) . Climbing is faster on technical trails, never feels like lifting and world of fun when you point it down. Longer travel = being able running if softer, more plush, comfort, grip and confidence. If you are a 50kg racing snake adding travel might not be for you, but if you ride for fun adding a little travel = to adding lots of fun.
  11. Weather was just perfect ???????? trails where great the clay jeep track was snot and running a semi slick did not inspire confidence ????
  12. That looks like a lekker hardtail! ????????
  13. Stunning dag, lekker lag met great mense ????????
  14. https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-mountain-bikes/strand/merida-big-seven-xt+edition-2014/1009365387010910234079609 Not sure what area you are in but something like this would be a great starting bike.
  15. Honestly under 8k I would look at 27.5 and even 26 inch. You would get an excellent 26er in your budget and a entry level 29er. 26er tyres are little more difficult to find, 27.5 would be a good middle ground as they tend to be cheaper than 29er these days. Slap some fat rubber on later it would improve rolling, grip and comfort. Bikes you could look at used Silverback Slade 27.5 Merida big 7 If you are set on 29er have a look at a used Silverback Sola, even the sola 4 has air shock and can be made tubeless.
  16. Kon nie glo dit was so mooi oggend na gister se reën.
  17. Ongelukkig geen fotos geneem. Fotos sou in elk geval nie die oggend justice gedoen het nie. Welkom in die Kaap vanoggend perfekte weer vir 'n ride en môre storm dit ????
  18. I see a lot of "hate" towards Maxxis size. Let me ask do you inflate them to maximum and leave them overnight? I do this with all my Maxxis as they say you should and have never had a undersized tyre, some of them come out to more even.
  19. this is actually a very nice choice and out of the 4 bikes in the 17k range so far the one I would go for.
  20. Lekker morning ride, will say I was little worried about the weather. Only had the lightest drops up to the mast and perfect weather elsewhere. The rain from the past days did wonders for the trails!
  21. Under 25k I would have a look at Giant Fathom 2. A more fun all-round more complete package I know it's a little more than those but it's a lot more bike as well. Other option to look at would be Merida SLX edition.
  22. wow it sounds like an argument with yourself, glad the correct one won ???????????? I like that he's easy going and lekker close makes my life a little easier ????????
  23. People so quickly to shoot down a good HT because they think the ride will be like that cheap ship you started on. I will take a well sorted HT any day of the week over a equally priced dual. But with a 40-45k frame budget I am guessing you looking at a 100k+ build. If that's the case I would go for Santa Cruz but the Blur with a 120mm 34 fork. I have only owned the first and second gen Tallboy and loved them, the third and fourth gen is little more trail focused than XC. BUY THE BIKE THAT IS GOING TO MAKE YOU WANT TO RIDE MORE!
  24. What a morning, perfect weather, grippy trails and some coffee and muffins while waiting for daylight.
