  1. Had them in when I ran light weight schwalbe's but changed to Maxxis with stronger sidewalls. Allowed me to run lower pressure without ever damaging my rims. Have only once hit the rim but a xc HT is not meant for double black rock garden πŸ˜‚
  2. Ja nee lyk my die roadies raak so kwaad as iemand verby gaan, dit seker hoekom hul in die middel van die pad ry hul hou nie eers daarvan as motors verby gaan nie 🀣
  3. Coming from a mountain bike... Good luck πŸ˜‚ but seriously if you are planning on riding that bike get a bigger range cassette.
  4. First ride at Plaisir and it was awesome! Will definitely ride there again!
  5. Ride ended quite awesome got to follow Nino and Lars even if it was just a minute or two before they disappeared 😁 video came out sweet πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
  6. Not a boast as such but given the price of tyres and the issue of stock πŸ‘€ New rear tyre, Conties owns the Ardent Race this replaced, can't complain since I've moved to Maxxis it's the first tyre I have "lost".
  7. It depends you get spokes from R15 each to the moon apparently. Heard about spokes that cost R1000 each not sure if that was exaggerated or not πŸ‘€ or just way out of my budget 😁
  8. It used to be a cross mark which give good mileage but now it's a slick. Looks like it came off a taxi πŸ˜‚
  9. In short no... I have had very nice dual suspension bikes and they are great, as I was riding more and more maintenance got crazy. Built a SWEET downcountry carbon HT. I am faster, average short ride 50km and up to 150+km. Less pain than my riding partners have with their carbon dualies and special seats and to be honest it would take a really special dual to make me even consider going back. PS going from a 26er to a well sorted 29er HT will feel like a dual πŸ˜‚
  10. At under 20k I would go with a 27.5 dual if it had to be a dual suspension. For some reason its lost most of its following which means they are going for cheap or at least much cheaper than similar spec 29er. In short you will get much more bang for your buck.
  11. Lekker chilled breakfast and beer ride, weather was perfect πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
  12. Not even destroying a tyre could keep the smiles away today 😊 anyway you know you're having fun when the tyres are getting torn up 🀣
  13. Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but what about the Giant Talon 1 well specced and in the same price range.
  14. Take both of them for a spin and get the one your heart wants not your head. In other words the one that's going to make you want to ride.
  15. A little hot πŸ”₯ but always worth the climb πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
  16. In all honesty there's nothing you can do. I had someone drive the wrong way round a roundabout into my car. He had no license, no ID and car not registered in his name. Police just said it's a accident it's his fault and that's it, they refused to open a case against him. I then asked jokingly what if I just kick the k#k out of him to feel better and was nearly arrested. I know it's frustrating but that's SA for you. You have to think for everyone around you to stay alive and then you still get cyclist who think the road belongs to them flipping cars off while driving 2 or 3 next to each other. They are the same people surprised when they get hit by a vehicle or mo#red.
  17. Had a quick look at the 2 bikes. Spec wise I would definitely go with the Trek. Rockshox 35 gold and Fox rear vs Judy and x fusion. Some of the other bits are better as well like the SLX crank to the entry level one on the 960. Price is about the same, so as a Scott fan Trek has my vote on this one.
  18. I am a big Scott fan but it would be a tough one between those. I would go with the one with better suspension as all other parts are cheaper to upgrade.
  19. The 2.6 Ikon and Rekon are great tyres for giving confidence especially on shorter travel bikes. As for rolling I have honestly not noticed any extra "drag" on the road over 2.2 but definitely more speed on dirt.
  20. Pre Christmas ride. Hope everyone has a merry Christmas πŸŽ„πŸŒŸ
  21. If anyone lost their shades at Fair Cape Milkshake trail let me know which brand.
  22. Anyone lose their sunglasses 😎 on Fair Cape. If so let me know the brand I might have them.
  23. I like the stats to see how much better I am doing than the previous year. So even though it feels like I'm racing the snails, I am a little off one and a half times the distance of last year. Given I am only a keen weekend warrior I am pleased.
  24. If I ask if it's still available and no response I take it's been sold. Never just ask if it's available but there's so many ads that stay up long after it's been sold. What should we ask... Are you a πŸ“¦ if not when can I pickup πŸ˜‚
  25. Lekker guided ride deur Stellies se great trails. Geen ride is complete sonder 'n paar biere aan die einde, kon doen sonder die af speek en roastie op my been πŸ˜‚
