The only way to truely find a comfy saddle is to try out as many as you can. Borry your mates ones. All reviews suggest is that a that saddle X worked for person X.
  2. Who cares if they are 2/3rds of the price.
  3. I reckon you should be fine. If you have a problem with it just send it back. Just make sure you get all his details.
  4. KCNC is a very good make of componentry thats pretty cheap. A finishing kit includes; bars, stem, seatpost and the other bits and pieces. Also check out the Token range, its also well priced.
  5. I'd look at upgrading your present TT bike first with Ulterga/ Centaur and a KCNC finishing Kit, then look at a frame.
  6. Sauser is a top rider and ever rides an epic.
  7. Gauteng have the best cyclocross riders though, the roadies up there spend most of there time on the pavements or off the side of the road trying to dodge taxis.
  8. I seem to remember Kevin Evans riding and alu hardtail for a while, while he was with Scott. A mate of mine had one of em, a medium weighed 1102 grams on his scale, no pun intended. That said if you looked at it too hard for too long the alu woul start to slowly bend, it was very soft.
  9. I'll give you the brand names so long Pillar No Tubes Tune Extralite
  10. Well great minds do think alike I might even reveal my sub 1100 gram MTB disc wheelset one day, which includes skewers. The weight is hypothetical, only been done as far as I know on paper.
  11. Very cool, the firec crank is a bitta of a let down though, I'm thinking Noir single speed.
  12. Then go the 355 route. Tubless is great, you loose a lotta weight, you can run nice low pressure and you don't puncure, much.
  13. Yup the Kings and DT's are on cartridge bearings. The AM classics are probably the best bet though as they are lighter than both of the above and retail for about 1700 rand a pair. Less than half the price of the others.

I bought all of mine from hubbers, much much cheaper that way. Sorry for the hijack.
  15. Go the XTR hub route, the design is simple and ultra reliable. Spares can be easily gotten hold of and as you yourself have noted you are paying 50% less than you would on other more botique brands. The only downside is the rotors assembly you're pretty much stuck to XT/XTR centrelock units. If you are going to buy the wheelset via CRC then check out the Sun Ringle' EQ21 rim, its the lightest they stock, at 350 grams a side. Dt Swiss Revolutions are also a very worth while buy. If you have the extra cash. Go for the Hope Pro 2 hubs, they are cheaper than the King/DT equivilants, are pretty light and very reliable. The main disadvantages of factory built wheels are: - The high cost. - Trying to get replacment parts can be a mission as well as pricey. - Weight, many factory built wheelsets are much heavier and more expensive than your equivilant custom build up. Another option, and for about 6 K, you can build up, locally, No Tubes ZTR Olympic rims onto American Classic hubs with Dt Swiss Revolution spokes. This is a sub 1400 gram build. Hope this helps.
  16. Keep the HT, simpler, lighter, less to go wrong. If the trail gets bumpy stand up and push harder.

I'm an Selle Italia SLR man down to the hilt, again personal choice. Check out the Spech Phenom gels, I think they come in at around the 800 rand mark. 130 - 143 widths.
  18. Paulvs had a scale 20 frame knocking around a while back, see if he still has it, wanted 4 K, I think.
  19. Very cool dude, just got change your nik now. Agree with para, needs some red kcnc jockey wheels and I-link housing. Very cool otherwise :-)
  20. Enoy the ride looks like they'll sing. Racer X2008-08-09 12:02:15
  21. Very cool, are those jockey wheels the standard type or the ceramics?
  22. check out www.justridingalong.co.uk They have access to all the ZTR rims; 355, Olympic sub 345, flow, arch etc. They also get the Race models, 300 grams, the Race 7000 is not available OEM yet, thats the 285 grams one. I go for the Olympic ZTR sub 345 gram one, on Hope Pro 2 with revoltions. That exact build is available on www.clee-cycles.co.uk comes in at 1440 grams with alloy nipples.
  23. Its pathetic, how do they warrent the extra cost?
  24. Hope you come right dude, dodgy bast**ds
  25. I wonder when UCI is going to look at dropping their weight limit.
